Luna Park

Went to Luna Park again this past summer. This time we took my nieces and our son. The kids had a great time. It was a bit windy and thus made it cooler out but it was a lot of fun. The price seems to have changed but I can’t say that for certain. The last time I was there was in 2012. The food selection has always was wonderful if not high calorie but when you go to an amusement park for the day, all the food rules go out the window. We will most likely return again this summer.

OMG! This place is soooooooooo much better than it was in the 90’s! A little pricey but I’m glad I took my kids. They enjoyed themselves as did I. Will definitely return regularly when they reopen.

It has been a long time since visiting Luna Park. I had a great time as I rode the majority of the rides. I had a funnel cake which was scruptious and enjoyed the last installment of the Friday night fireworks.

I have to say this park was pretty cool.. A little on the expensive side for the rides but l have to say we really enjoyed ourselves. My favorite ride was the water ride. Just a slight splashed but we got on that twice! Hahaha my son sat in front and he said l screamed before we even went down the slide. They had two w slides, the first was a little mild but the second. I screamed so loud. I’m so dramatic lol. We would definitely return. Especially this time of year when it’s less crowded. We came here in mid September. Weather was perfect and it was also on a Sunday. Thanks Luna Park for so much fun!

This place was cleaned up after Sandy. But at night it can get super crowded. It becomes super ghetto and dirty. I only cane at night because I wanted to see the place lit up.
In the day, its strewn with leftover garbage from the partying before. At night, its all lit up and full of people. Pretty crowded, I must say. Its beautiful at night. It is definitely a fun place. I just wasnt crazy about the crowd. Im sure no one is.
Got on the Wonder Wheel. The wait wasnt long. It moved pretty fast. I got on the swinging cage. I screamed my head off as Im not an rides kinda person. But overall, it was fun.
Its great for kids. Tons of rides.

Growing up in Brooklyn everyone remembers Coney Island Beach.
what a transformation, it has improved in a major way, you can find arcades and rides for all ages, toddlers and kids to teenagers even adults might want to enjoy some of the fantastic rides and or arcades.
the amount of eateries is beyond your imagination, the smell of food is everywhere, you cant go there and say no to food no matter how full you are, or better yet get there hungry:-)

I visited this area a few days ago. All I can say is WOOOW!
The area has gotten So much better than 10 years ago! I use to come here as a kid.
Second thing I would like to say is DAMNNNNNNNNN!

Overall, it’s fun here. The area had so much cool people. The price however hurts my pocket. Lol

I can understand how some may find Luna Park a little underwhelming given the hype and history associated with Coney Island but I think a slight re-​adjustment of expectations can significantly improve your experience.
Now, Luna Park is not very large nor are many of the rides particularly new. It may not be this year’s shiny new toy but that’s really part of its charm. There are a lot of rides that offer decent thrills like the Thunderbolt rollercoaster and the classic Cyclone wooden coaster. The Soarin’ Eagle, which you ride standing up and horizontally, aims to simulate flying but tight shoulder restraints make for a somewhat uncomfortable ride.
There are also a bunch of other non-​coaster rides that spin you up, down, left, right, and completely upside down. If you’re in the mood for something much milder with nice views, there’s the old Wonder Wheel, though it’s not one of the better ferris wheels I’ve been on. You can’t help but feel like a bird in a cage in those cars.
In addition to that, there are plenty of carnival games, arcade games, and a few areas to play bumper cars. The boardwalk and beach are not too far if you’re in need of refreshments or a break from the screams. Unfortunately for me and probably some of you, people are really into taking their giant ass snakes for walks on the boardwalk, offering others a chance to hold them. Don’t want. Don’t want. Don’t want.
My only issue with the park itself is I absolutely do not feel the rides and tickets are worth the price increase I saw on my most recent visit. $ 10 (10 credits) to ride 1 roller coaster? What? At that rate, I’m better off at Six Flags. But of your options, the best is really the $ 35 wristband for 4 hours of unlimited rides (although it doesn’t include some of the pricier rides and all carnival games). If you’re looking to spend less and you’re with someone (what kind of weirdo goes to Luna Park alone?), you can split the $ 40 card that comes with 40 credits + 6 bonus credits. Depending on how you and your partner play it, that can get you 3 or so rides each.

It’s a cute, albeit small park. The rides are actually creative and quite interesting. I think the issue here predominantly is pricing. It’s priced about the same as a large Six Flags resort, which offers much more. I understand that it’s a smaller venue and operator, and that this is New York along the beach. If you happen to be here for a day and want to go to these rides, I think it’s reasonable to get the day pass for around $ 45. Remember that the Cyclone is its own ride and you have to leave the park to get tickets for that. Same for Thunderbolt.

These weekend was overbearingly crowded. I usually come every summer to Coney Island but my heart is telling me to get a new spot for the summer. If it wasn’t for the special person I had with me i would have gone to a bar somewhere around the area and got shit face like i usually do. I adore the fun rides but lately i feel like they are not as safe and with tourist and ignorant people around its kind of hard to enjoy this small theme park that Brooklyn was blessed with.
I love you Coney Island but get the ratchetness together!

On our recent vacation to NYC, my 9 year old daughter insisted that we go to Luna Park in Coney Island. I was curious to see the Boardwalk and Nathan’s Famous so I obliged. We also had two 4 hour wrist bands included with our NY passes. We got a late start and it took about an hour on the subway to get there from the Upper West Side. I expected to walk right in, but I guess they don’t open until noon.
In any case, if you have NY passes, you have to redeem them at the customer service booth. I found this out after waiting in line at the ticket booth. Ugh. Also, note that the 4 hour wristbands don’t include the top 6 or so thrill rides. For us, this was not a big deal as my daughter was not tall enough for these attractions except for one. Here’s another note, the Slingshot has a height requirement of 48″ AND it also has a weight minimum of 110 pounds. Again, I found this out the hard way, after I purchased cash cards for us. It really would help if this information was posted. I was further disappointed as they wouldn’t refund my purchase. I didn’t want to argue anymore so we spent it on food and games, but wasted the bonus tickets that can only be used on rides.
With all that being said, there are many rides that are included in the wristband that are just as good or better than other similar amusement parks. My daughter had a blast and that’s all that really matters to me. I only managed to ride a few things as while I love roller coasters, I can’t take too much on the spin and flip you upside down rides as I get older. LOL.
Many NY friends tell me that this are is not as grand as it once was. That may be true, but I would never know. Compared to several places that we frequent (Pacific Pier — Santa Monica, CA, Belmont Park — San Diego, CA and Pleasure Pier — Galveston, TX) there are more and arguably better attractions.

When you purchase you ride card/​wrist band, prepare yourself for some of the SICKEST local rides without the ridiculous admission fee! By sickest I mean don’t order than Nathans corn dog until you have ridden your heart out. Lol
Some of these rides can really spin you upside down and inside out! AND I’m talking about the ones even kids are allowed on. The roller coasters are the best to me! I’ve been on the one you have to sit one that’s shaped like a horse and mannnn that’s fast. Its horse racing theme that zooms off!
They also have a bungee ball that’s just out of this world I mean it really sends you up there! My favorite ride for excitement with a view the sky high swings (that’s not the name of it though) it goes WAY WAY WAAY up and rotates quite a few times where you can enjoy the breeze wind and even forget for a split second that you’re swinging in the air.
The staff here is pretty friendly and helpful when giving advice about the rides. Luna Park also has your favorite fair games, like shooting water race and fishing for a fish with the right color to help you win than humungous stuffed lizard. The Lines move pretty quickly even when it is packed.

Luna Park has some great rides, but first timers and non-​locals should really do their research before arriving.
I’ve been on many a fine thrill ride and I wanted to experience that on Coney Island, a legendary park.
The Thunderbolt is AMAZING and worth every penny, as is the Slingshot, and the Zenobio. That’s where my review ends though and here’s why:
I can’t say if the Cyclone is awesome or not, because we did not have enough credits left to ride it.
I spent $ 175 dollars for myself and my twin daughters. I rode five rides all together while my girls rode six, including the expensive $ 22 per person two seat Slingshot. I told the ticket booth lady we had limited time and only wanted to ride the thrill rides. She was nice, but sold us four hour wristbands which we didn’t really need or really use, we rode three rides with the wristbands.
We could have just bought a $ 100 and $ 60 card giving us 210 credits which would have been $ 15 cheaper and allowed us to do what we wanted. The Slingshot looked epic when my daughters rode it, but it takes five minutes for every group of two to get strapped in, ride, and get unstrapped.
Do not use your cards on rides that take wristbands, be careful. Most of the staff are very helpful and nice, but some don’t seem to understand how the park works.
That is unfortunate for first time out of town visitors. Our visit could have been much more suited to our liking. As such, I can only give the park three stars.
Get a map, figure out what you want to do, and then purchase wisely.
The Luna360 is a fun little wristband ride and there are others, but the park is split up and Wonder Wheel Park is not the same park covered by the credits or wristbands. It can be a bit confusing.
We had limited time, so the wristbands weren’t worth it for us.
There should be an extreme ride ticket. Or other varying options.

My students had a lot of fun here but I am a bit annoyed at their lack of updated info and under developed medical room.
The website has misleading information. The site offers a group package where you can get a wrist band and money for games. When we got there they told us it did not exist so we had to spend 30 minutes reorganizing our ticket situation for 50 students.
Then one of our students got a migraine and felt as if she was overheating. We took her to the medical room which has NO AIR CONDITIONER OR FAN… which seemed insane for a place a very public space working in the summer. It was only until I asked did the medical staff think to bring her to a space that was cooler. They just gave her ice packs.
Overall the rides are fun and the space is great for family and children but they need to make sure their info and medical room are up to par.

Historic amusement park right on the boardwalk is ok to come when it’s not too hot and humid out. The rides aren’t exactly the best ones and if you’re a thrill ride seeker, maybe two rides at most will satisfy you. The rest are small and short. Of course, there’s the historic Cyclone. However, if you don’t want severe back and neck pain for two weeks, you may want to skip it. In fact, most of the rides here are whiplash inducing. The absolute worst is their «haunted house» ride. It was so cheesy we were laughing hysterically through it. It was literally a bunch of cheap Party City decorations scattered around a dark room, mostly posters hanging on the wall. So dumb but we got a good laugh for $ 8. The rides are expensive individually so if you’re planning on going on them, you may want to buy a 4 hour wristband for $ 35. The entrance to the park is free though. The park is dated, but still ok to come on a cooler day. It is on the water but there’s never a breeze once it’s hot out and crowds make it worse. Also, it’s a bit sketchy at night so you may not want to stick around after dark.

We were so excited to visit Coney Island for the first time today. When we first arrived at the train station, we could see the colors from all the amusement park rides greeting us from far away. This small town somewhat reminded me of the fun time I had when visiting arcades and amusement parks as a child.
I felt so bad for the amusement park though because there was literally no lines for almost all of the rides. To be honest, I sensed that the place was struggling to have enough visitors, as many booths were just dying to get any interests from visitors. It was so sad to know that this place never really recovered from its pre-​hurricane Sandy popularity.
Overall, I didn’t really do any rides, because I just didn’t think that it would be fun to just go on a ride with another person or two. In my mind, part of the fun at amusement park is seeing the crowds and lining up with other excited people to get to enjoy the rides together. However, this place seemed to lack participation from the crowd… and even just visits from visitors… it didn’t seem to be as fun as I had previously hoped. I do wish though that this place eventually recovers its popularity or somehow gains attraction from more visitors. Else, I don’t know how long this place can realistically maintain its financial feasibility without many visitors.

While spending the day at Coney Island we decided to ride some of the attractions at Luna Park. We ended up riding a few different rides, but our favorites were in the area near the Wonder Wheel. In the end, this park was a blast and we hope to spend time here again in the future.

What they have done to this place within the last 3 – 4 years is hard to even explain to outsiders. It is definitely something to appreciate for some who like myself and my family. This area went from a run down amusement park to a tourist attraction not just from the tri state area but probably from the whole country.
Everything is new and very exciting for kids and adults of all ages. I’ve been bringing my 5 year old niece and 8 year old nephew for a few years now and they love it! I can’t wait for my 1 year old daughter to be able to enjoy the attractions as well.
For the adults there are outdoor bars and clubs. Great food and great landmarks to take pictures off.
The only flaws I could see are the workers throughout the lunapark amusements are fairly new and inexperienced and the beaches can get super crowded on the weekends and the holidays.
Def recommend to visit this area when the weather is superb!

I have heard lots of weird negative stuff about Coney Island over a long time and decided to make a trip for myself. Talk about fun! What? How come I have not been here sooner.
Luna Park has great rides for all of the kids. But the main reason I went is the Wonder Wheel. (The haunted house scared the kids, but I thought it was lamer-​than-​lame. Any child over the age of 12 will feel the same way.)
But the Wonder Wheel offers great views of Downtown Manhattan and the Beach. Sit on the one that does not swing for the best and highest views. But this is a great park that will make you feel like a kid again and let a kid be a kid — not an original line, I know, but not sure who’s it is now.

Such a beautiful day today and I can not just waste it! Grabbed a huge lunch at Nathan’s and walked on over and purchased a kiddie wristband for Kaylen. Kiddie wristbands goes for $ 20 per child and is good for 4 hours of unlimited rides on rides only for children 36″ tall & up.
We got on our first ride around 2:30pm and we were like the only ones here, no wait, no lines! Kaylen got to go on most rides all to herself, by herself! Very impressed with their friendly helpful staff for double checking all seat belts, keep it up guys! Area is also kept very clean.
The park isn’t huge but there were quite a few rides, including a few food stands, a Pie Face, Uncle Louigi’s, and a smoothie stand which I don’t recall the name. Kaylen had such a great time and totally did not want to leave even though the rain started coming down by 4:30pm.
Kaylen was a little disappointed though, because half of the game stands within the park were closed due to «not enough customers today». Wanted to visit the arcade right by the front of the entrance, but did not go in since Kaylen isn’t old enough to understand or is physically fit for those big kids games so maybe when you’re older Mommy will take you, alright?
Great little amusement park right on the broad walk! Must also stop by Deno’s Wonderland, the next door neighbor amusement park.
