My first and last time here. It was like in and out burger. But without the tasty treat. i got a mani. pedi (if you can call it that) in less than 45 minutes. Wtf?
I was taken care of by Annie. Who is a big fan of the Asian hustle. She’s good for the upsell. Massage? Callous remover?
No massage? You need massage. Stfu lady. I’m good. Just give me my mani/​pedi.
Cold water soak. No soap… Rough pedicure … No scrub, a dime sized dollop of cheap lotion. And no massage… Apparently that’s extra .
The polish was fine. Thank god.
The mani wasn’t much more exiting… No antiseptic spray. Another puny dollop of lotion. And a two second rub of lotion… And again with the Asian hustle. Massage? You need massage.
I’m sticking with Angel gift…

I come all the way from New York City to have a manicure, pedicure and waxing from May. I even bring my husband for a manicure and pedicure. We are both extremely pleased with the services we receive. I highly recommend May. She has relieved me of pain from an ingrown toe nail.

This is my second time to write review for this place.
Because I just had my old time Pedi-​Mani and massage at Moon Beauty. I moved to Honolulu in April. There are many fancy Spa & Nail in Honolulu and yes IT’S EXPENSIVE and not good as Moon Beauty…
I just came back to NY for a short vacay and went to see May today.
After countless other Honolulu nail salons left me disappointed with their attempt to get my nails ‘just right’, so happy to see May and all Bklyn ladies ! They did an amazing job fulfilling my request. I’m picky and have specific requests. Thank you May and hope see you soon !

Absolutely amazing facials & mani and pedis for the price around the neighborhood. I’ve been coming here for a long time and their service has never failed me. I came to get a massage and they asked me if they needed to apply more pressure or go softer. They’re very considerate. When I come to get my facials, I get extremely comfy and end up falling asleep. I love being pampered here.

After I went today for a manicure and read all the reviews, they reserve from me two stars.
The place is clean, neat, comfortable and I feel relax until I had my manicure and I notice
how they tray to push their services and expend more money. First and last time I came here.
Are other better places in Bay Ridge where you can get amazing service and feel happy :)

I found this place on this site and I thought what an amazing nail salon. Then the second time I went thru shaped my nail crooked. Today I went to ten again and May sat me down. I asked for a full set. First of all my index finger nail is shorter than all the other ones. When I pointed this out to her she said she did for when I type it can be comfortable and that the next time I come for a fill in she will make all of them the same length. Then I asked for a design for four fingers. She charged me $ 8 and the design was hideous. You shouldn’t even tell that there was a design it look like my nails were smudged. I told May I don’t like it all she did was put another design on top of it. Making it look even more ridiculous. This was definitely the last time I go there.

I went in for a Brazilian wax and it was cheap, clean, relatively painless, great staff. They missed a few spots or I would have given them 5 stars. I would recommend this place.

First few times I came here I was happy with the service and found it to be clean and friendly. The last time I went, few weeks ago, I was disappointed. I asked for a Spa pedicure b/​c I wanted a longer massage, she then pushed a treatment for my heels, then when the massage lasted only a few minutes I asked isn’t a 10 min massage for the spa (typical elsewhere and I believe here too?) and she said no and made me pay more. Then when the 10 mins was up she reset timer and said another 10 mins? It felt I was being pushed for more and more services which I did not enjoy. She also really hurt my calves and I told her repeatedly that she was hurting me and she just kept saying I had «knots». I’ll be trying somewhere new.

Update: nails started chipping less than 48 hours after my mani. Maybe it’s my own fault, who knows? Still, quite a pity. Never happened before.

I’ve been coming to Moon Beauty for a year, maybe more, for pedicures, manicures and waxing. Not because of anything exceptional, but because it’s convenient to where I live. I’ve griped to myself about the «tax» when paying with a credit card (MB– your customers aren’t idiots. We know there’s NO legal tax there). I’ve looked past the couple of times where whoever was new did my nails and they didn’t last long, because you get used to a place, you like the people, it becomes routine.
After a long time of May always suggesting I come in for a massage, I added it onto my ask this past Friday. The ask was for a «30 minute back and shoulder massage.» I realized immediately that I was getting a deep tissue massage, or at least an attempt at one. This in my opinion should ONLY happen when specifically requested, or at least talked about. Never assumed. But I let her keep going. Several times throughout the massage I said that it hurt, to please not go so hard. She kept laughing and saying it’ll feel better in a minute — or something along that line. Should I have stopped her? Absolutely. But having had deep tissue before, I knew it was supposed to hurt and that afterwards it would feel great. And that is not AT ALL what happened. My back is still in pain, my entire upper half of my right arm is in pain, and I have bruises on both of my arms. One being DARK purple.
I went into MB today to show her and ask for my money back only to be told she is on vacation until August 4 and to come back then. I showed the girl my bruises, and she said I have to come back. I know here’s nothing she can do, but as a business that’s NOT acceptable.
I will not be coming back for any services. When there’s nail salons on every block, this isn’t OK.

The best mani pedis … Quiet… surprised my nail polish didn’t last. Was offered a facial and eye treatment or both… Services were a little pushed on me when coming in for nails done. Eye treatment needs many sessions the first one won’t show results. Good experience and will go back hopefully consistently!

I’ve give this place numerous chances… they’re generally very nice. However, today is my last visit. I got a pedicure. I was offered the callus remover which I denied because I never get it. So, she didn’t scrub my feet at all. I thought to myself, maybe there’s something special in the water. Nope. I got home and my feet were peely and dry, worse than when I came. I never do this sort of thing, and I’m not a perfectionist, but I had to go back. I asked if they could fix it. They said it was my shoes, washed my feet with water, and sent me on my way. This was not the issue. They were too lazy to scrub, and too lazy to fix it.

So I read the reviews and decided to give it a try. 230 on a Thursday. Walk in one other customer getting pedi. I ask for pedi and immediately get seated, so far seems ok. Nice lady making small talk. After getting my water really she walks away. I play around for a few minutes with the massage controller in my pedi chair. Broken, but ok I’m not going to let it ruin my pedi. I have an hour for a nice pedi before my baby sitter
needs to leave so why get upset about the massager… I’m waiting, and waiting, and waiting. My water has a nice icy chill now and my feet are sweetly pruned up. Just what I love about getting a pedi. It’s been 35 minutes and so far I’ve gotten a great soak. I could be doing this at home. I’m calling out for any worker to remember they left me in the back soaking away. Finally the chatty chick comes back telling me it will be 20 more minutes before they can start but enjoy my soak. WFT lady. NO I’m done soaking. Never going back. They were not busy. This was a joke a huge and disappointment for a first time customer that will never go back. Broken massager,
ignored and forgotten. No thanks, def not recommending to anyone, ever.

I tried this salon after seeing the reviews on Unilocal and I will be switching from my salon of 20 years! The service is excellent! Clean, friendly, accommodating staff. Great nail designs, instruments handled appropriately. I couldn’t ask for a better experience!

Continuing on my journey to find my perfect nail salon, I decided to try Moon’s on a holiday weekend. I was extremely happy to find that they were opened and they were so sweet to all the customers that came into the salon.
The large pedi seat was super comfy and relaxing. My manicurist was a little rough on my feet but was super gentle with my hands. I was a little disappointed with the mani tho, since she didn’t seal the ends/​tips of my nails. The color on my finger nails started to chip by the 2^nd day.

I had a great experience here.
From the second I walked in here with my 8year old daughter, and her 4 friends, it was a good vibe. We were talking and laughing so much I forgot to ask names. Lol. My daughter and two of her friends were taken right away. The other two sat in the little waiting area. Where they had mint candies and water. The ladies were so nice. I liked the fact that they quickly started talking to my girls, asking them about their nails, what they would like and what colors. They started going on and on about how pretty like princesses there were and how they liked school. It was pretty comforting. My daughter and two of her friends had gotten manis and pedis. They charged me 15 $/​ea for mani and pedi for the girls who did both. One of my daughters friends had her hand wrapped up in a cast so they only charged me 10 $ for her mani and pedi and 10 $ for the girls who just did mani. I didnt mind the prices because when i took my daughter with me one time to a different salon they charged me a whole 20 $ and they didnt decorate a nail like Moon Nail Spa had done. Each girl got one nail done with a xmas tree, snowman, or harp and glitter. Their nails came out great. It was an outing for my daughters 8^th birthday and the ladies and one other customer sang happy birthday to my daughter which made her feel extra special. I def recommend this place. It was super cleaned and modern. They supplied water or tea and mint candies. Its a tad small but I personally liked it. I know they had some back rooms which is probably used for eyebrows and body massages. I am def going to start coming here to do my nails and get massages.

I wanted another gel manicure however I wanted the person to understand that I wanted clear and white not some light pink color and when I walked in and explained this to Moon she said ok no problem and showed me the almost clear gel! I was so excited and the price was very reasonable! I’ll be back for sure.

WOO this place is awesome.
They took care of me as soon as I walked into the salon. The service was prompt and sweet. The lady sat me down after I picked my color and began to work on my toes. Pretty standard pedicure and the sinks were clean. They, however, do not include callous removal with the pedicure [ all other places in BK do] which surprised me because they do charge $ 20 as oppose $ 15 like every other place in Brooklyn. I didn’t have much callous, but whatever.
The manicure was awesome, I really like that the lady [May] took the time out to remove my cuticles. She saw that I had a lot of dead skin and took the liberty to remove more skin the second time by cutting it again. It took longer for her, but she assured me that the nail polish will stay longer that way.
Bottom line: I enjoyed my experience at this cute little nail salon. The establishment is clean and the staff is very competent. I would come back to this place again and again even if I have to spend the extra money.

This was my first nail salon to try in Bay Ridge since I moved here last July 2013.

I came here on Tuesday afternoon. It was their down-​time so I didn’t have to make an appointment. They did tell me that they are VERY busy on the weekends so if you plan to come on Fri/​Sat/​Sun, call in first.
I had a gel pedicure. The lady did give me a brief but nice massage. At some places, they just skip this step so it’s a huge deal for me when they do it!
She took her time and I didn’t feel rushed AT ALL! and she did a good job at cleaning up my nails. Gel Pedis here and at other places usually cost at least $ 30 generally. But they do last longer than a regular Pedi. It’s $ 7 for a regular MANI. She also mentioned that they do FACIALS, and single hair EYE LASH extensions, and body massages.
