I’ve been here a few times this year and absolutely LOVE their fries. I also would recommend the crawfish sandwich and the tilapia sandwich. The food is mostly consistent as well. You order at the bar and get your own water. There is minimal interaction with the employees who mostly sit on their phones when not pouring a beer. Which is absolutely fine, but I hardly think this warrants a 20% tip since there is no actual«table» service. Most recently we left a $ 7 tip, $ 1 for every plate/drink that was ordered. When leaving the bartender asked if there was something wrong with the service. Um… «what service?». The bartender proceeded to tell us it is customary to leave a 15−20% tip. We are quite aware of tipping etiquette in New York but leaving a large tip when no one asks how your food is and there is virtually no service seems crazy! I really loved this restaurant but unfortunately won’t be coming back.

Stopped in about 2 weeks ago, my salad was very small and the chicken tasted rubbery. I was shocked because I have been coming here at least twice a week for a long time and my food was always very good. I then found out that they have a new cook. Went back last night hoping that the new cook just needed time to get his bearings. I was wrong. The salad went from bad to worse. The cucumbers and blue cheese were diced into baby food size pieces. Gone are the thick juicy slices of tomato replaced with 4 very sad grape tomatoes, and they have added pecans.(I have nut allergies and in a kitchen this size I am concerned about cross contamination). The final straw is when I used the bathroom right after the cook. the sink was bone dry — did he wash his hands? I’ll never know but I definitely won’t be eating here again. Good bye old friend I will miss you

Nice place, great food(the burger is very good), and good beer selection. Been there several times and will return. Staff is also friendly and helpful. Good on a weeknight after work with friends.

This used to be my spot. I knew all the staff and cooks. After moving out of the neighborhood, I’ve come back a few times and haven’t had a good meal since. Soggy fries. Grey’ish brown meat. No more credit cards. Won’t be returning after this last visit. Sad to see you go! Would be 2 stars if the beer selection had declined too. At least they have one thing right still.

Food is okay. Sweet potato fries were the highlight. Burger okay, no exceptional taste. Don’t get the spicy coleslaw, it has no taste. 3 star rating includes a 1 star bump up for a good beer list.

Best burger and beer spot around. I can’t eat here enough. It gets busy at times though, so don’t get butt hurt if you go during a rush and your fries aren’t cooked to perfection or the bartender didn’t have time to talk about your day.

I’d say the environment is very college-y which is not at bad thing it’s just what they were going for. Most of the staff was nice and the drinks were fine. Just would never recommend the food. It was bad. Buffalo sliders are horrible and mine were cold. And the wings weren’t great either. Just a bad idea to eat food here. Swing and a miss. Will probably come back for drinks at some point but I love food too much to try that here again.

This place is a great neighborhood spot. They have a great lunch deal where you can get a burger, salad and little beer for about $ 10. Good selection of beers. Great sweet potato fries and the burgers are really good too.

Consistently juicy delicious burgers. Yes, I’ve occasionally been served soggy fries here and there, which is why it’s not a 5. Otherwise, relaxed ambiance, chill friendly staff and great lunch special. Today we tried the chicken and tilapia sandwich. Both great options.

Really enjoyed the burger here. Excellent quality meat that was cooked to my request. It’s served with pickles and tomatoes– I could do without the lettuce, it’s messy. It also has a tasty sauce. Didn’t love the cole slaw– it needed salt. Good key lime pie for dessert and sweet waitress at the bar. I’d come back again.

what distinguishes good spots from not-as-good spots? effort. we all have different tastes in food, after all. some dishes we just won’t like, even when they’re perfectly prepared. such is the rich pageant of life. now — i like burgers of all kinds. little guys and big juicy fellas. i like fries, too. i know what a burger and fries tastes like when made with love. and so i conclude: mother’s doesn’t put in the effort. what i ordered — a veggie burger($ 9) with cheese($ 1) and a side of sweet potato fries($ 2) — was not very good. the veggie burger was a flavorless boca-type patty, deep fried, with a bunch of vegetables piled on top. a place that specializes in burgers, relying on the cheap crutch of frying the whole package? far worse were the sweet potato fries: inedible. not fried so much as marinated in oil, limp and soggy, the worst fries i’ve ever had. we are talking about french fries. literally a one-ingredient dish. i ate two fries and left the rest on my plate. that’s a lack of effort. another sign that no one there wants to try all that hard: when the bartender came to clear my plate, he looked at the pile of untouched fries — and took it away. no interest in asking me why, exactly, i ordered a side of fries and didn’t bother to eat any.

New spot in Graham ave. bison burger was super juicy and wasnt overwhelming. The fries are delish and not salty but still tasty i enjoyed the gluten free bun option and side garden salad. It is however self service. Maybe after 5 pm they have staffers for the after work crowd but it was still a nice ambience. Will def go back

Really loved this place, but beware… as of recently I believe they are now another inconvenient cash only joint. Bummer really, I used to go more often. Good food good drinks but hit up your atm first just in case.

Meeeeh, went there twice. I think the food is kind of gross. For me, it’s more a place to have a beer with your friends before having a real diner some where else. will come back but only for drinks.

After almost nearly an hour of waiting… in a practically empty restaurant… we finally received our food. I get so frustrated when multiple large parties enter AFTER I’ve been seated, and receive their food longgg before me and my boyfriend do. AKA the case here –___– they apologized by comping our first round of beer(which we had already finished) and promised it’d be out *soon*. I think that’s when they put the order in… okay give it another 25 mins after that and FINALLY they toss our food down in front. Which is when my man realized his medium rare bison burger($~16) had been fully cooked through to an extreme well done, with absolutely no juice. My grilled tilapia sandwich was ACTUALLY a deep fried tilapia sandwich. It’s whTever, but at least let the guest know that’s how it’s prepared. When I told the bartender she’s all like ‘ummm it’s pan friend miss’ and I’m like that’s cool if you call deep fried pan fried, but don’t call a sandwich *grilled* when it’s actually fried. Overall the taste was fine. We probably would’ve actually liked it, had it come out at a reasonable time looking like the food we had actually ordered. I think we’ll stick to harefield road from now on…

I don’t go to Mother’s very often — when I checked in on a recent Sunday night I was surprised to hear that my last visit was in 2012 — but when I come it’s for the comforting, simple burger. Mother’s has a particular type of burger, one where the juices gush out of a pretty thin bun that hits the spot on a certain nights. On a block where some options are too fussy(Mesa Cocoyan) and others remnants from a grungier era(El Loco) Mother’s pleasant atmosphere and décor strike me as just right. I came for what was just supposed a burger but turned into two glasses of rosé. It was the end of the long Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end of summer. Hopefully I’ll back before it’s safe to drink that pink wine here again.

This place is getting 5 stars strictly for the amazing burger I had. I tried the Bison Meat Burger with Cheddar/L&T. Delicious!!! The perfect consistency and flavor. I loved the soft sesame bun too, yum! They have some great beers on tap. I had a few«A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale» by Lagunitas Brewing Company. Really great, highly recommend. The atmosphere is casual, comfy yet still chic enough for a date night. The service was decent sitting at the bar.
