Beware: If you rent through them and ever move out, they will bombard you with calls and texts about renting the place. They rarely give more than a few hours’ notice before bringing clients over.
Danielle is absolutely awful. She showed up at our apartment at 8pm on a Friday without permission and demanded that she and her clients be let in. When I opened the door, she said, «I’m usually not this rude, but…» Tip: Maybe if you recognize that you’re being rude, you shouldn’t be doing whatever it is that you’re doing.
Robin is much friendlier and seems to care a bit about you as a human being.
Overall, though, it’s a horrible company.

Let’s admit it, dealing with tons of real estate agents is the worst. Once I met with Eitan, I bailed on everyone else. I had a fast move from LA to NYC and Eitan made it extremely easy for my transition back. While I was in LA, Eitan Facetimed me a couple of his exclusive apartments and the following weekend he drove me around Brooklyn and Manhattan to check some places out. Once i decided on an apartment, Eitan made sure that we had all of the proper repair requests written into the lease and traveled to me to pick up the signed documents. He even followed up with management for me once I moved into my apartment for some promised improvements that were never taken care of. I can’t speak for everyone at the agency but I can say that you should holler at Eitan because your best interests are his best interests.

This company represents landlords that are straight-​up crooks. And when I called demanding the contact information of my landlord after almost 2 weeks with no hot water/​no one responding to my calls or texts, I had to call MySpace 3 or 4 times, forcing them to give me the landlord’s contact information (which they lied about not having). The hot water issue occurred 5 more times after that date.
Fast forward to now — the landlord has no intention of giving us our security deposit, despite the fact that we moved out over a month ago. It’s just gross… stay away from building 846 Prospect Place in Crown Heights.
It just confuses me why MySpace is so concerned with respecting the landlord’s requests/​work-​contract, when the landlord clearly doesn’t respect his tenants’. grow the fuck up. or just learn some dignity.
Also, the woman we signed our lease with (I believe she was filling in from another location and I think her name was Sonja)… so rude. Like you ask questions and she makes you feel dumb/​clearly did not want to be there. I made sure to avoid this place next time I was apartment searching. Nooklyn across the street is a much better option!
The only positive was the broker we worked with before coming in to sign the lease. I believe his name was Wojtek.

Like everyone, I read the reviews about how this company is horrible and basically a scam and figured it would be okay because our agent (in our case Devin) seemed so nice, it’s such a nice apartment, it’s worth the risk etc. Well, we weren’t special, and Devin wasn’t special. This place is horrible, Devin seems nice but is just as slimy as the rest of them, and I regret ever going against my intuition and working with MySpace.
The details: We put down a deposit on an apartment, Devin said several times «We have to absolutely clear on the conditions.» Once he had our $ 3,000 deposit on our credit cards and the contract signed, he called a few times the next day saying «I can’t remember we agreed on, the landlord wants another month up front for move-​in, is that okay?» I think the goal was to get us to say we had changed our minds so they could keep our deposit as we had «decided» not to take the apartment. We just kept writing emails saying «We want to proceed under the agreed-​upon terms» (everything in writing for legal backup) in order to thwart their plans. We eventually got our deposit back; however, it was a very stressful and unpleasant experience – and guess what, we were just back where we started.
That a company this unethical continues to take over whole Brooklyn neighborhoods is incredibly depressing. If you care about yourself, your neighbors, or Brooklyn as whole, look elsewhere – I can tell you from experience, working with MySpace is not worth it, no matter how great the apartment seems.

Beware, Myspace NY, specifically the crown heights office will insist that you give a cash deposit, which is very odd. when you are ready for your cash deposit to be returned to you, you will get an email from your closing agent in this case rachel villanueva, who was very rude, that your refund will be available within 48 hours and by check only… i should have listened to the reviews I read before dealing with this office. Then when you try to call the office the system hangs up on you upon dialing the extension # You insisted cash only for deposit on the spot in minutes then you want to return my refund by check in 2 days plus bank processing time I was willing to look at other places with your agent but now im definitely not.

I was pretty hesitant to work with this company after reading the reviews, but went ahead with a viewing with Cassandra. She showed us the apartment I had contacted her about, and when we let her know that our budget was a little higher than she thought, she excitedly showed us a beautiful apartment that just became available. She answered all of our questions and was not pushy at all, especially compared to some of the other people we had met with. Since we had already seen a number of apartments in the area, it was clear that Cassandra was not making things up when she said the apartment was a good deal. She was also super flexible, giving us time to think things over while we got dinner and then meeting up with us to put in an application later that night. During the application process, she was responsive and always friendly, even when I started texting her nervously over the weekend about the things I read in some of these reviews. I am an attorney, and nothing about the application process stuck me as fraudulent or illegal.
Subrina processed our applications very quickly, and we got to sign the lease much earlier than we imagined. We have not yet moved in, but so far the landlord seems like a kind, reasonable person and we are really happy that we found this apartment!

One of the worst experiences I have had trying to move in NYC.
The company treats everyone like a piece of meat. Which, at some level, I understand because they are running a business and need to make money. But when the fubar it, don’t expect good reviews.
Danielle was one of the rudest and most condescending people I have come across in NYC. Her attitude and unwillingness to have a discussion with you like you are a human being on her level is atrocious.
Rashay was a bit much to handle, but her heart was in the right place. She is the reason for the 1 star.
Steer clear of using MySpace NYC.

Good lord, I would give this place zero stars if it weren’t for Myspace’s saving grace, Subrina. I’m not even sure if she’s at this location anymore but she was so level headed and reasonable. She’s only the manager that finalizes the documents and such though, I don’t believe she shows apartments, but I’m surprised how calm she remains when all of her colleagues shout ZOMG SEE THIS APARTMENT NOW SIGN ASAP — which, yes, you need to move fast in this city, but I echo what Max said: our realtor (Robin, I believe) showed us an apartment without knowledge of the current tenant. She failed to disclose multiple things about the place, wouldn’t let me do a skype tour with a potential roommate, and when I asked about subletting (in case I needed to move out) she goes «why? where are you going anyway? you don’t need to move». She gave me attitude when I asked where the nearest G train is… uhm because I want to know? Why do you care if I take the G train? She also proceeded to insult and yell at me when I called to ask how to handle a difficult landlord situation (calling me «a brat» and «spoiled» — which goes to my next point, you can guarantee that if there’s «no fee», it means that something is severely wrong with the apartment and the landlord has hired myspace NYC to make the place look like Neuschwanstein castle. In our case, it was a mix of things, but basically the guy was a slum lord and was perfectly fine with us living with rats and blames it on us not being in the apartment when the exterminator comes (WHICH WE WERE). I do have to give credit to a very nice gentlemen that I spoke on the phone with after refusing to speak to Robin; he was very sympathetic and nice.
If you must, must, must use them: do not let Robin show you apartments, and pray to god Subrina will come along the way to save you. In short, NYC housing will always suck.

I want to start out with saying the realtor me and my roommates worked with was really super nice. It’s the company as a whole that’s disgusting. They work with sketchy, sketchy landlords and don’t care. My roommates and I ended up renting through them and our apartment had multiple issues, not the least of which is landlord illegally turning on the gas which resulted in the gas company coming out and turning off the gas for the entire building and telling us that it could’ve exploded. You’d hope a company would do better research, and want their clients to be safe, but they are only out to make money.
Never work with these people. The management is rude and overall jerks.

I came across a MySpace NYC listing through Craigslist. I’m new to the market and was desperate for a pad. The agent I worked with, Gino, was immediately responsive and scheduled a time that worked. The whole way through he was super patient, flexible, listened to what I wanted and kept finding new and interesting places for me to see. I would definitely recommend working with him!
I’ve also seen about 9 apartments with this company in Crown Heights Brooklyn. The agents are always friendly and professional. The best part is that they listen to you. I’ve had some agents so keen to close a deal that they show you everything they have, even if none of them fit your specifications. That has not once happened while working through this company. I would definitely recommend them.

My experience with them was okay but I need to warn you. Do NOT rent from Elcorno Martin!!! They work a lot with his buildings and of course won’t tell you how awful he is (he is on the list of top worst landlords in NYC) Slum lord. Didn’t have hot water for MONTHS and months and kept getting the same answer that they were «working on it». Also had a ceiling that was leaking and molding that didn’t get fixed until it was almost collapsed. My apt building always looks like trash because there is no maintenance (garbage all over the hallways and stairs) The list goes on and on.
If you see his name, RUN!!! Like Forest!! Trust me!!! He won’t treat you like a human being. More like an animal. It’s incredibly disgusting how someone can only care about money and not the well being of the people he is taking it from.
Know your NYC tenant rights and go to the city if you can’t get help. They WILL help you (if God forbid this happens to anyone else)

Aldo was great. He showed us an apartment that wasn’t even on the market yet and helped calm my nerves as we went through the whole process. I was a nervous wreck hunting for an apartment by myself. I saw these negative reviews and got even more anxiety, but I was very pleased with my MySpace experience. Subrina and Aldo both were very helpful, answered all our questions, and even put up with my relentless e-​mails and phone calls. Aldo was quick to help us secure the place and responded quickly to all my nagging. Finding property in NY is RIDICULOUS. I’m glad we had good peeps helping us find our new home.

Absolute scum of the scummy Brooklyn real estate sphere. This sorry excuse for a real estate company makes the exploitation of its customers the standard procedure.

Update: Finally got my $ 500 deposit back after going to their office all the way in Williamsburg in person twice.
I got in contact with one of their agents through a Craigslist ad. She showed me a fantastic apartment, and i liked it so much that i decided two hours later to put down a deposit for $ 500 to secure the place. The next day she called me back to say that the place was not available, even though she promised that the $ 500 deposit i made on the spot would secure the place. She tried me to take another more expensive place in a worse location (bait and switch). I told her that I would like to have my deposit back. To get the check i had to go to their head office in Williamsburg, where the recptionist informed me that they did not have my check.
At this point I have wasted a large amount of time with this company and not have not been returned my $ 500 deposit.

On the way to check out an apartment I found on Craigslist, the broker told me to meet him at the MySpace office, and I thought about turning around then and there. I’ve worked on Franklin Ave for years, I’ve seen MySpace brokers countless times giving people tours. They would say «look at this little café, it’s so nice» and «look there is a bar and burger place! Woaw!» It seemed like they were doing this to up-​sell their listings, and make the neighborhood seem fancy and upscale.
So we meet the broker, and he is unbearable. «Why couldn’t you get here sooner? listings like this don’t last, this unit is almost rented out. It’s such a great price.» We haven’t even got to the building yet.
When we arrive, he realized that neither him or the super have the key. We are standing out there, and he actually asked if we wanna rent the unit. Me and my girlfriend couldn’t believe it, I almost started laughing. I said «Why don’t we take a look at it tomorrow?», and no joke, with a straight he face said «IT WONT LAST TILL TOMORROW, THESE UNITS GO WITHIN HOURS OF BEING LISTED!!!» Who, Why, or How would someone rent an apartment they can’t see or get in to, is beyond me. As we are leaving, and pretty annoyed at this waste of time, the broker tells us that we can see a similar unit in the building. Ok, we get to the door, the super is banging on it to make sure that nobody is there, so weird. When they open the fully furnished apartment, with clothing and belongings, it’s clear it is a rented out unit they are showing to us, without the tenant’s knowledge. It was very uncomfortable, almost disguising, that they wanted us to tour this apartment, that someone lives in, horrible. I didn’t wanna be in there. As we are leaving, he keeps going on and on, telling us «other neighborhoods aren’t safe, this wont last.» blah blah blah
Going into another person’s home is horrible and probably illegal. This super had no shame, If you rent from MySpace I suggest you change your locks.
I spoke to a friend of mine, and this happened to him, myspace opened his door with a prospective tenant. He was home, and made them prorate the rent a few days.

I want to be kind, and that is why I give them two stars instead of one.
We had contacted an agent through Street Easy. (I decline to give his name simply because in the end, he was very kind and I could tell he really wanted to get us the apartment, but the first three he showed us made me want to throw fists). We set up a time to go check out an apartment in Crown Heights. I know there are nice places and some scary places out there, so I did my best to not judge a block too quickly.
When we got off the subway, we started walking to the address we were given. And we kept walking and walking and walking until I felt like I needed to hold my purse a little tighter and my boyfriend put his arm around me in a protective gesture. The address we were given was right across from the projects. We didn’t take that apartment. We reminded the agent our budget, and then we went back to the office to look for a few more available listings.
The next couple places he showed us made me look at him like he was growing a third ear out of his forehead or something – the best word to describe the buildings we were taken is shithole. These were one step up from a project – nice apartments themselves, but I would have needed seven locks to on our front door to feel safe. One building smelled like urine as soon as we walked in, and three floors up, the weed smell took over. Kids hanging out in the stairwells, looking at me in a naughty way ten year old boys should not know, all pushing and roughhousing.
The very last place our agent took us was just the kind of place we wanted – not too many other units in the building, quiet street, close to the subway, except out of our price range and he didn’t seem overly eager to see if we could negotiate it down. I’m led to believe that this office does not have prime listings. Needless to say, we did not rent an apartment here, and I would be in no hurry to recommend this office to someone.

Jessica Foti has found me 2 apartments. the first i cant say was the best but her efforts were definitely well admired. I used her again for my current place and she is on point. She will help you scour listings and doesnt mind driving you to each location. The application fee did go up but i guess thats out of her hands.
She is a solid realtor, and will help you until you find the right place.

Can’t say too much about MySpace, but I can say that we had a pretty great experience with Ted. Definitely ask for Ted. I think we stumbled upon his listings through Craigslist. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and answered all of our questions. He was upfront about the management for each building, and didn’t try and skirt around issues. He arranged for us to get access to the building multiple times, before and after we signed our lease.
Like most people on here, I checked Unilocal first, and was nervous about the reviews, but so far it’s been a great experience. Myspace processed all of our initial deposits efficiently and gave us receipts. The whole experience felt as professional as it could be.

These people are beyond shady. Like other reviewers here, I was told I had to pay a deposit to hold an apartment we were interested in. We were told we would be refunded the full deposited if we weren’t approved for the apartment. We weren’t approved, and this is where things got shady. I made multiple calls and sent emails requesting our deposit back. I finally got a rude reply from the receptionist stating we weren’t able to get our deposit back because we didn’t try to apply again with guarantors. We had made it clear from the beginning we would not and could not get guarantors — and it was never part of the original agreement.
I filed a complaint with the better business bureau and I strongly urge anyone scammed by this awful place to do the same. A few weeks after I filed the report I got a call from that same nasty receptionist saying I could come pick up my deposit refund. Don’t let these people get away with STEALING a from you. I don’t understand how they’re even still in business.

Awful! People go here because they are no-​fee brokers, but the brokers are scatterbrained and in my case, quite cruel (see attached text messages). And people don’t realize that although they are no fee, the rent is higher to make up for that!
We were trying to settle an apartment with Braulio, it took over a month for him to fill a Bed-​Stuy place and he was flaky, non-​communicative, and absent throughout the process. So I was couch-​surfing and moving every two days while he was supposedly trying to get this place filled, and people kept backing out because of his incompetence. And when I backed out, he wrote me some pretty nasty text messages (attached) that insulted my responsibility and intelligence.
This place is not worth the $ 80 application fee. The reviews speak for themselves.
