I cannot say enough about Terrell Simmons of NY Casa Group. From the onset, he was beyond professional, courteous, and accommodating. Not only did he help us find an apartment we absolutely love that has everything we were looking for (and more), he went above and beyond at every single step along the way — including helping us navigate through a very lengthy/​detailed approval process. He couldn’t have been more committed to ensuring we got the apartment we wanted, and that we had every single detail taken care of — including offering to help with boxes, moving company recommendations, and more. He was incredibly responsive, and even more impressive, immensely proactive from the first showing, throughout the entire process, until moving day and beyond. He was extremely gracious and accommodating with his schedule and went out of his way to accompany us to the apartment to measure on more than one occasion to make sure we had all of the details confirmed/​measurements we needed prior to move-​in. The day before our move-​in date, he followed up to make sure that we had all of our keys and all was in order, and when we discovered a small issue with an appliance, went out of his way to ensure that it was taken care of that night — before we moved in. To this day, when I see him in the neighborhood, he is always checking in to make sure we are happy and have everything we need. I can’t emphasis the level of dedication, integrity and professionalism he has showed since our very first interaction, and while I hope we never have to move out of our dream apartment, if we do, we will absolutely be calling Terrell/​NY Casa Group. I used Rachel to rent my apartment after unsuccessfully using a different agent from a different real estate agency. Rachel is a wonderful agent and is very patient and responsive. She was extremely thorough and dedicated and as a result she rented out my apartment in 9 days. I have known her for over 2 years and she has never been even remotely unprofessional in any of my dealings with her. I have recommended her to many people and they are all equally impressed with her knowledge of the neighborhood as well as her patience and professionalism. I cannot imagine working with anyone else for any of my real estate needs.

I can’t say enough about Rachel Aschalew at NY Casa Group. We met over three years ago in my search for an apartment in Downtown BK and not only did Rachel find me the perfect apartment, she held my hand throughout every step of the process. We have since done many deals and I can’t imagine working with anyone else but Rachel for my real estate needs.

I recently got transferred to New York from California and needed to find a place in Dumbo, Brooklyn. My work gave me one week in New York so I needed to find a place to rent quickly. After almost giving up hope, the owner at the restaurant across the street suggested I go into NY Casa Group and ask for Rachel. So I went into NY Casa and immediately got help from Rachel Aschalew. She showed me several apartments that same day. She knew that I was in a time crunch and she made it her priority to help me out and find me a place in the area I wanted as soon as possible. Since I was coming from California I had little knowledge of the area, but Rachel definitely briefed me on all things Dumbo and even Manhattan. She sincerely wanted to get to know me and treated like a friend rather than a client. We found an apartment on Washington street and Rachel worked closely with my landlord so that I could get in the apartment as quickly as possible. She seems to know everyone, adding to her credibility here in Dumbo. Seriously everyone knows her and wants to work with her because she does her job so well and is actually enjoyable to work with. She never made me feel rushed to make a decision, but once I finally did she got the ball rolling. She gave me hope that New Yorkers actually can be nice and look out for others. To me that is something that is seemingly hard to find in a broker. If you are looking for someone who knows the neighborhood the best, and can give you the best experience, and even have a drink with you after, then I wouldn’t go to anyone else but Rachel. She was awesome!

Contrary to what the only other reviewer stated I had a very positive experience with NY Casa Group. Of all the agents that we originally looked through, Saachi and Amber from NY Casa Group were far away the most responsive and helpful.
They took my fiancée and I around to tour 4 – 5 apartments in Brooklyn Heights our first day. When we expressed that some were not in our search criteria, they were responsive and altered the agenda for us. On our next day of visiting apartments, they patiently showed us another 4 – 5, and it was very apparent that they had listed to our feedback from the first day and showed us apartments much closer to what we were looking for. Amber was very open about any aspects she deemed suspect in some of the properties we were viewing, and at no point was she pushy.
When we did find a place that we liked, Amber especially was helpful in coaching us through the application process, and even said that our low bid would likely still get us the apartment, even through our lower bid would net her a smaller fee.
Overall I found Saachi and Amber to be responsive, thorough, and patient, and I would definitely recommend this property group if you are looking to rent in Brooklyn.

I was shown an apartment by Rachel Aschalew. Finding the apartment more than satisfactory, I asked her about the procedure for applying. She told me, and I quote, «I do not play games or engage in bidding wars. As soon as an application is received with a first month’s rent check, I will stop showing the apartment.»
I returned that afternoon (Thursday) checks in hand and filled out an application. As I was doing so, she told me that another party had expressed interest in the location at $ 100 more a month, but did not apply that day. I brought in all my financial documents on Friday (which come Tuesday were spread haphazardly on a desk by the door for anyone to see or take) and was told I had been approved, pending a face-​to-​face meeting with the landlord Sunday evening.
I met the landlord with Rachel for several hours and inspected the apartment. Believing that the meeting had gone well, and told that the landlord felt comfortable, but wanted to «sleep on it» as a rule of thumb, I considered my search over.
After no answer on Monday, and several calls to Rachel which she ignored, I left a message expecting to hear back on Tuesday. In a chance encounter with Rachel on the street on my way to work, Rachel told me that she would call me back as soon as she finished her current phone call. Three hours and another ignored call and message later, I went to her office to confront her about the delayed closing. She assured me that I would hear back from the landlord that day.
After receiving a cockamamie excuse from the landlord about my insufficient savings (quite odd since I had only been asked to provide proof of income and not any other form of financial disclosure, which I would have been happy to provide), I returned to the NY Casa office to demand my deposit and application fee checks. Spread out on a heap on a table in plain view were copies of my financial documents (bank statements, rent checks, pay stubs, etc.).
Included in the pile was an application filled out the day before (despite the fact that Rachel said that she was not accepting applications). When I challenged Rachel about her claim that she promised to stop showing the apartment and refuse to accept additional applications, she claimed that people often took the time to go to rental offices to fill out — in person — applications for apartments that they apparently did not have the time to go and see. Knowing that I had been lied to, I took my checks and credit report and walked.
In all fairness, although I believe that Rachel certainly owed me my application fee back due to her false claims about not accepting additional applications or showing the apartment, many brokers would have deceived me likewise AND taken my application fee. However, since most brokers would also have closed a deal instead of holding out for a possible additional $ 100 after several more days of work (fee was one month’s rent), I’d put Rachel in the scummier side of brokers.
I wouldn’t have minded if Rachel had told me that the owner wanted to keep the unit on the market to see what other offers she could get; owners have a right to try to maximize their rent. However, Rachel used my deposit in order to elicit higher bids from other people whom Rachel showed the apartment contrary to her guarantee, keeping mine as a backup. She is a liar, pure and simple.
