Very cool place, wasn’t for me but for a friend. she loved everything in the store, and the lady at the cash register was very helpful and attentive. If they offered men’s items, I’m sure they’d be so cool.
And they had a Unilocal 10% off offer. Love those. Totally recommend this place for girls.

I was a fan but I am upset by the rude customer service. One of the employees barked at me after I told my friend hey I think that a certain piece might be worth $x dollar amount worth of silver. The employee yelled at me and said it’s worth way more in silver and she said I am a jeweler! I did not want to get hostile so I kept my mouth shut and was polite. I went to GIA, I have a masters degree, and work for a jeweler. I saw something behind glass and was only trying to give my friend advice. I don’t mind someone chiming in, in a nice way. As a customer I do not want to be yelled at.

One of my favorite stores to frequent in Greenpoint, however my recent encounter with the owner of the store made me feel as if I should no longer spend money here. The customer in front of me spent a lot of money and was offered a box for the items she purchased. I purchased items which were for Christmas presents and politely asked if I could have a box. The owner replied that she didn’t have many boxes left. I asked again if I could have one and she denied me saying she only had four boxes left. Were my purchases not expensive enough to warrant a box? This really made me feel like I shouldn’t be spending my money in a shop that picks and chooses which customers deserve boxes and which do not. I felt very inferior and was highly disappointed that this was the service I was receiving from the owner of the store.

Used to like this place. Has some nice selections. But an awful return policy. Unlike most other places they don’t offer a 30 day return policy, unlike a lot of other boutiques I’d NY. I tried to return some unworn shoes 14 days later and was told that i could not get a reimbursement or even store credit. One of the girls that works in the Greenpoint store is particularly rude. And was too busy stuffing her face with pizza then trying to explain what the store policy was. They do have a small sign, which I didn’t see! And it is written in small writing on the bottom of the receipt. But when purchasing no body drew my attention too it, or ringed it, which is common practice when a policy is non returnable or under 30. I refuse to purchase anything there again. Go to alter next door instead. The people are much more helpful and understanding.

I really wanted to like this place. I’ve bought/​ordered from here gifts over the past couple years, but after a bad experience this past holiday season getting them to make some custom jewelry, I’ve lost faith.
It is filled with the obvious on trend boutiquey stuff you’d expect… ironic jewelry, pendleton blankets, etc. I placed an order for 2 necklaces with the store before Christmas. When I went to pick them up after 4 weeks of waiting (because a week before christmas apparently wasn’t enough time) they were wrong and the store felt they would rather refund than fix. Not a huge deal, but worth noting that despite this place’s cool curated bunch of stuff, it’s got that self centered small business vibe when it comes to anything more.

Two words dragged me in without any hesitation, «summer sale» actually make that five words: «summer sale THIS weekend only».
So this past Sunday, I stepped into Old Hollywood, and found some really awesome items ranging from unique pieces of jewelry, all seemingly handcrafted and delicate, along with a nice selection of trendy accessories and clothing items, and of course, some vintage wares as well.
I really like the layout of the store, since it’s narrow and not too spacious, yet every nook is used well, and you eyes are constantly engaged by something interesting. It was fun to just peruse all the jewelry especially as the various pieces were displayed so sweetly in charming cabinets randomly disbursed and pinned up against the walls.
Though I did not pick up any sale merchandise, I did nab a lovely Mermaid bottle-​opener /​decorative piece that I purchased for a friend whose birthday is this month. It reminded me of her newly redefined living room with a seaside/​beach motif, and felt like it would make a nice addition to that ethos.
On the downside, the prices are a bit high, especially since it’s a vintage-​boutique store, but on the bright side, their things are very unique and has been lauded as one of the better jewelry stores in Brooklyn, and perhaps NY? I did see this somewhere in the store in a press piece.
For Brooklynites and Greenpointers, this is probably a favorite location for the ladies, and I can’t blame you, I’d probably find myself in this store on a regular basis if I lived in the nabe, too. It’s charm is unpretentious and delightful.

great selection of women’s jewelry and a few clothing options. I drool over the locally crafted rings, necklaces, and bracelets. Vintage and new options appear here and the ambience of the store only adds to the charm.

If you’re a woman, which I’m not, you’ll LOVE this place. That said, I’m gay, so I liked it a little bit.
This is a unique clothing and home décor shop in Greenpoint that offers everything from handmade blankets and jewelry to artistic clothing and clever items for the home (the cocktail glasses marked with the stages of grief were a total find). There were also several refurbished/​reclaimed mirrors and/​or small cabinets/​cases for things like jewelry. My favorites were two miniature trunks that were situated on the floor near the register. They’d make really great unique gifts.
Prices are a bit high, but these are unique goods, and thus are most likely going to an artist who is trying to make a living, and not a factory in Sri Lanka employing kids your niece’s age.

From the displays to the merchandise, from the service to the ambiance of the store, this place pays attention to detail and kicks some serious tuchus. One of my buddies put it this way, «It’s like if Etsy had a store, and filtered into only the finest stuff.»
The guy that was working there was kind and welcoming, talkative and affirming in all the right ways. He also left you alone to browse if you didn’t instigate conversation. This is good.
There are a lot of things that I personally won’t sport — like the hipster appropriation of guns (in little charm form) or long leather dangly earrings (I’d rip them out of my ears in no time). But I know there’s a market for it so hey, I’ll just leave them be without complaint.
But there’s other stuff here that is oh-​so-​nifty. I walked out with a necklace that converted me into a jewelry wearer. I was also a huge fan of a ring made out of a tiny fork that wraps around the finger. Unfortunately I couldn’t get it because I forecasted all the times I would stab myself accidentally in the hand, leg, and face. Good for self-​defense for the more graceful and less tom-​boyish, however.
As far as the prices of the items are concerned — me thinks they’re are all handmade. From personal experience, I know that it takes hours to make even the simplest thing. Plus, once you absorb the cost of materials and get about 50% of retail cost, you end up getting paid about $ 4/​hr if you’re lucky.
If you want inexpensive things, you’ll have to frequent a store that carries exploitative factory foreign goods. If you want gorgeous things that are often one of a kind, support the artists and this small store and give ‘em your business.

I always stop by when I’m in greenpoint! They always have the cutest dresses and everything is displayed so beautifully!

I definitely loved the good finds there, but then you see the price tag. Seriously? A gorgeous pearl ring surrounded in some pretty twisted metal but made of cheap metal that doesn’t close in the back for $ 50? And a gorgeous wool dress that is classy, trendy and timeless all in one with a zipper that won’t zip (it wasn’t too tight) for $ 80? I mean literally, no one could zip it. Just doesn’t make sense to me, and it doesn’t make sense to go back.

Definitely my favorite spot to stop in whenever I pass by. The way they merchandise makes you feel like you are discovering hidden treasures. So many pieces make me go !!! The prices are reasonable and I truly enjoy the unique flavor of the items they carry.
If perchance you see something you love and think, «oh I’ll get it next time», I suggest you scoop it up! Twice I waited on things and when I ventured back they were gone.

After reading my review, the owner Tiffany, sent me the nicest email saying that she was so sorry I had had bad experiences. She explained the employee that was rude was no longer with them and she hoped I would give them another chance.
So I did.
I had a very different (much better) experience right from the start. The girl working there, Kate, i think her name was, was so helpful and sweet in every way possible. I bought a necklace based on new york architecture– so cool– and an awesome new scarf.
Old Hollywood, you gained a customer back for life.

I don’t even know where to begin! I was so overwhelmed the first time I entered the world of Old Hollywood.
Ladies & Gents… This is probably the coolest «jewelry» store in all of NYC. I don’t know who does the buying there but that woman, or man has impeccable taste.
Unfortunately, we are currently living in a world that has been taken over by corporations and gentrification… But not Old Hollywood. They are the perfect example of how things were, and how they should be again.
If you have to buy a gift for someone, you will surely find the perfect one there… The best part about OH is they have stuff in all different price ranges. You can go in and spend just a little, but you can also spend a lot.
If you haven’t been… Get on the G train and Go! Go! Go! You will not be disappointed.

This store is another perfect treasure stash in heart of Greenpoint but for girls. The location wise, it grabs you by the sleeve when you walk on the normal street of Meserole ave. It is hard to notice but, once you give a chance she will remain in your heart (?) because it grows on you and you will keep going back to see what now.
The first time I was there, I bought myself a vintage suede clutch bag in reddish violet with the gold metal closure & chain strap ($ 35). I haven’t worn for a while but Gosh… once I started to use it, it traveled with me to everywhere from dressed up dinners to night outs whole last year. I’ve got so much compliments from how elegant it looked to how well it matched my jeans.
The store is filled with some new Antropologie look mixed with old femine hollywood. New-​vos like feather necklaces that featured on fashion magazines, chunky line ring that sits on your finger (very similar rings to ones from a fashionista friend of friend jewelry designer, Jules Kim but cheaper.
), chain locket watches, flowery brooches and lots of little great things for prefect presents and new and vintage apparels in old glamour style. That being said, sadly they don’t have my sizes in particular so it would be anyone’s hit or miss treasure hunting. But once you find that something for you and you only, you know how that makes you feel.
It is tiny but all sort of items are well stocked and fitted in looking somewhat like someone’s closet. Jewerly, clothing, various (!) kinds of bags, belts, hats and more (see for youself). I like the fact that the store clerk is friendly but not pushy and let you browse. There is a Sale’s rack outside of the store most of the time.

What a great store and a great littel find! can’t believe the wealth of great jewelry.

I love Old Hollywood. It’s such a great store in such an incongruous place, and I fear that it will go the way of Brooklynski and change locations as soon as it possibly can. It is impeccably curated, and SO reasonably priced. It’s one of those places that you want to tell everyone about so it will succeed, but then regret telling everyone because you want to keep it a secret for yourself.
The jewelery is gorgeous, different, and CHEAP. They’ve got some of the typical Brooklyn indie stuff, but a lot of interesting vintage pieces as well. The design of the store is spot-​on, and they manage to get a lot of stuff into a tiny space and yet you don’t feel crowded and could easily spend a half hour browsing. I’m usually the only person in there when I go and the woman who works there is a joy, very friendly but not overbearing and allows me to shop without comment, but if I have a question it is immediately answered with a smile. I got the best blue patent leather shoulder purse in perfect condition for $ 50 and a beautiful vintage pin necklace for $ 18.
The fashion they purvey is my favorite kind… classic, interesting, unique, unironic, and pretty!
Go now, before they move to Bedford or Graham… and maybe if enough of us go, they won’t!!!

I just found the store when I was walking around the neigbor.
I was surprised with the good taste of the clothes they have since the store is located in somewhere pretty random.
They have really good vintage clothes for not that expensive price, some of them are pretty expensive, but I think the location is one of the reason why they can keep it lower than the stores in Lower East side,
I recommend at least seeing this place since it is just a pleasant store to look into.
