History

Established in 2013.

Peace and Riot is the retail post of Ibo Interiors. Achuziam and Lionel (husband and wife) have teamed up to offer gifts and home furnishings for both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Crossing over from the realm of fashion design to the world of interior design after graduating from F.I.T. in 1993, Achuziam Maha brings nearly two decades of stylizing experience to the forefront. The form and function of her creative concepts not only move with the time, but somehow remain timeless. Her work has been exposed on the pages of the Daily News, the New York Sun and her store was featured on HGTV. Lionel, originally from the Bronx, is also a record producer. He brings his love of music and tech and buys all the fun and funky items. Achuziam concentrates on all the pretty stuff.

Peace and Riot is the perfect Brooklyn-Bronx, classic-contemporary, neutral-vibrant mash up.

Meet the Business Owner

Lionel and Achuziam S.

Business Owner

New York natives, Achuziam Maha-Sanchez and husband Lionel Sanchez have created a store combining each others eclectic and global tastes. Coming from African and Caribbean heritages, there’s a feeling of being transported as you enter this Bed-Stuy boutique. Both are also musicians and artists with diverse talents. All of this creative energy has found an outlet through the store in the form of events catering to musicians and artists of all types and to the selection of unique products to display. They have certainly established a playground for themselves to give the neighborhood a jolt of the unexpected.
