From start to finish, working with Richie’s Bay Ridge Carpet was an easy, effortless process. I found them through Unilocal,saw the great reviews, and decided to reach out for a quote when I was in the market to recarpet my one bedroom co-​op apartment.
Kevin came to my apartment one evening after work (to accommodate my schedule! A+ already!) to measure and personally show me samples; I did not feel rushed at all and felt I could take my time in making my decision. I had originally been planning to spend several thousand dollars on an alternative carpet underlay for sound abatement (my downstairs neighbor’s TV is too loud and is on 24⁄7 and comes right through the floor!) but after speaking with Richie and Kevin, they convinced me to go with a denser carpet padding instead for a dramatic cost difference.
The carpet padding that Richie found for me was great. Dense and thick but still amazingly comfortable underfoot. I haven’t had the opportunity to test out the sound abatement quality, if any (my downstairs neighbor has been out of his apartment for a couple of weeks) but I’m certain that it will have some effect compared to what was originally installed under the last (old) carpet.
The installation process was smooth and easy. Kevin and his team arrived on time on the morning of the installation and a few hours later, I had my beautiful new carpets! They were neat, efficient, friendly and thorough. I would highly recommend using them; the quality of their work and their customer service is fantastic.

I was looking for a local place to match an area rug to the colors in my daughter’s room. I brought a blanket with the pattern I was looking to match into the store. Richie was able to pick out the perfect lavender color for the area rug. He was very professional, extremely friendly and knew his merchandise. The area rug was delivered on the day I asked and at the exact time he said it would be. The 2 men who delivered the area rug laid out the rug for me. Very nice guys. Very satisfied with the carpet and the service. Worth going to Richie’s and purchasing the rug vs shopping for it online and not being able to see or feel the carpet.

No BS, straightforward, courteous, and returns calls/​job quotes quickly.
We bought our Marmoleum flooring from Richie — he’s one of the few certified installers in the city, which is crucial if you’re installing it as a sheet.
We ended up buying the modular Marmoleum Click product from him, which meant our contractor installed it, but Richie fulfilled the materials order, delivered it, and kept us up to date on the shipping status of the material — all crucial to keeping our kitchen renovation moving.
A+++ would deal with again.

I found the Place on Unilocal,after going to LOEWS, Home Depot, and Carpets on U.
I always research places I purchase services from very thoroughly.
The first two, getting any help was impossible. Had to wait to find help and then other people came and salesperson rushed me to get to them. He wasnt knowledgable in what he was doinig. He had to call for help many times. This was pretty much the same service I recieved at the first two places.
Carpets on U. Well what do you say about a place that promises you the moon to get money from you, and oh yeah, I needed a carpert stretched and they said they’d do it for free while they were there. uh, no, I dont think so. I research them a;nd found that I was right. check them out on Unilocal.actually thats how I found Richie’s Bay Ridge Carpet & Linoleum.
Rave reviews and now I know why. He came to measure for free, No pay now and I’ll take it off if you buy the carpet from me.
He was honest and reliable from the get go.
After measuring I was not pressured into coming and getting a carpet. I went the following week and ordered a carpet for my bedroom. Fair price. wouldnt have been cheaper at any of those other places. Oh yea, I asked about stretching the carpet in the other room he said no problem I will have to charge for that because I have to pay my guys for their time.
Now that is honest and fair and you know what you’re getting.
they came delivered the carpet as scheduled, stretched the carpet in the other room. Job well done. Great crew of men. They were clean, respectful, and left the place impeccable.
Its time we deal with the little guy. We have PC’s and can research online.

Just had Richie install a carpet runner and hallway carpet throughout the common corridor in our Cobble Hill townhouse. It was a great experience start to finish. Richie came by twice to discuss options and pricing (which was very competitive). Five days later everything was installed perfectly and as promised. His installation team was neat, polite and left things looking great — elegant and contemporary. They definitely know what they are doing. The padding they installed under the carpet has completely eliminated the noise of people going up and down the stairs. Big success. I highly recommend these guys for your carpet needs.

I went there to get an estimate on carpeting my office. I have to say, the whole process was seamless. Richie spoke to me about what my needs were and recommended me the best carpet and it wasn’t the most expensive. In trying to get carpet replaced for my office, I encountered too many no-​shows for consultations. I was very happy that Richie’s Carpet came out to midtown manhattan, worked with me for an accomodating install date and had a fair price. I’m rating this business based on todays. Interaction, none prior.
I went to the store in an attempt to arrange getting my carpet stretched & cleaned. Over the years my carpet is soiled and developed bumps.
I met with Richie. He couldn’t have been less interested. He said he would give me the number of someone who cleans carpets, dismissing my stretching inquiry. I said that it would make sense to stretch and clean at the same time so the furniture would only have to be moved once. He said «oh yea, that would make sense, I’ll try to arrange that». He would’t give an estimate other than the stretching of the carpet, alone. I had to press him to supply a «ballpark» figure. It would be between $ 300– $ 500. C’mon Richie, if you don’t want to do this, just say so. Nice to know where I won’t be buying any carpet in the future.

Richie’s replaced the carpet on two interior staircases and laid vinyl tile (that looks like wood, only waterproof) throughout our basement level. When we went to their store to select carpet Richie was friendly, helpful, and totally respectful of our time and space to make a decision. He was easy to schedule the installation with, sent a professional crew who did an excellent, neat, and extremely efficient job (two staircases in carpet and the whole floor of a brownstone in faux wood in about 4 hours total!), and then took the carpet leftovers back to the shop to bind into a custom runner rug, free of charge, which they later delivered for free as well. Unbeatable!
The company is entirely staffed by Richie and his extended family and the old fashioned, family-​owned feeling of the business really shines through– pride in their work, mutual interest in doing a great job to keep the business thriving, integrity and decency amongst each other that carries into their relationships with clients. Highly recommended.

I own a three story brownstone and needed to replace the wall to wall carpeting on the stairs and hallways. I didn’t know where to look, so I started at Home Depot and Loews — ugh, no selection at all and minimal sales help. I then went to ABC Carpet and Home and priced out several carpets. (Estimates at $ 6,500-$ 7,000) I knew there must be something in between and based on web reviews visited Richie’s Bay Ridge Carpet. Huge selection and friendly, helpful service. I had 4 – 5 samples sent to my home free of charge. They recently finished installation and it cost me just under $ 3,000. Everyone was pleasant and attentive. During installation, I had a problem with one of the saddles installed, and without any hesitation they came back and changed it to exactly how I wanted it. EXCELLENT ALL AROUND!

Had them install a stair runner in my home. The installers just left and I couldnt be happier. I went to the store in Bay Ridge to select the carpet (which I HIGHLY recommend) and met Richie who helped me pick the carpet and did not try to upsell me. The whole selection process took a whopping 10 minutes. Ileft the store with a very reasonable quote for the work and Richie came and measured a few days later. We scheduled the work date and the crew showed up on time and ready to work. In under an hour I had a beautiful, new runner. They left the area cleaner then they found it, PLUS they gave me the extra carpet piece, all trimmed and seemed. WOW. I heard they were good from other reviews (Angie’s list) but I was so pleasantly surprised to find the reviews spot on and the work completed as promised — all at a very decent price. How come every business can’t be this great?

I was in the process of having my sons room redone. After doing some online research I came across Richie’s Bay Ridge Carpet. Although the store was a bit distant from my home I decided to take the trip and am extremely happy that I did.
From the onset I could tell that Richie was not about making the most money. I explained what I was looking to have done and was up in the air as to whether I want to go with new flooring or carpeting for the room. Richie went over flooring and carpet options, pricing and was nice enough to come to my home to measure at no cost.
The measurements were a bit larger than I had budgeted for. I went back to the store and he and his son were nice enough to provide options that were more in line with what I was looking to spend. After making my decision, Richie shook my hand and stated «No need for a deposit. You came back out to visit me and that’s good enough for me. I’ll call you when your carpet comes in and we can schedule an installation date.» How many people would even do that?
Unfortunately, due to inclement weather my install date had to be pushed back a few days. Richie apologized for the inconvenience and told me his installers would be at my home a few days later at 10 AM. Amazingly at 10 AM on the dot my bell rang.
The installers were nice and professional. For such a large room they pulled up the old carpeting and padding. They cut, rolled and tied both the padding and carpet so I wouldn’t have any issue with sanitation. After all was done it was only an hour later!
A few hours later I received a voice mail from Richie who was just checking in to make sure I was happy with the product and the service. ABSOLUTELY!!!
I’m planning on doing some additional work in my home and I feel great knowing that flooring won’t have to be a concern. If you are looking to have new carpet or flooring installed in your home look no further than Richie’s Bay Ridge Carpet and Linoleum.

I have used them over the last few years to do my office, living room, dining room, hallway and just recently, our nursery. Love them! When we went to the store to pick out the floors they werent pushy at all. We told them what we wanted, they pointed us in the right direction, told us all the prices and then let us decide with zero interference. They called when they said they were going to call, they showed up when they said they were going to show up and they were quick and efficient in installing the floors. I highly recommend them!
