I have been coming to this Dr. Schuester’s office now for three years and I have no complaints. The staff have treated me with respect and the doctor himself is exceptional, very kind and humorous. The waiting may be a pain at times but what doctor’s visit isn’t…

The doctor ordered a bunch of screenings when the annual physical was performed. The results are sent to his office. This is when the staff becomes a major pain. The first set of results they ignored; and if a white-​washed copy hadn’t been sent to me by the facility performing the screen, I’d be none the wiser. Nor healthier. A second follow-​up set were sent to the doctor’s office. When I called to inquire whether the results were there (because they’re not proactive, so I need to be) I was told to call back another day, and «anyway at the end of the day». Excuse me for having the nerve to inquire about my own test results. I’ve had enough of the staff. They need new jobs.

Pretty much in line with everyone else: The doctor gets 5 stars, the staff gets 1 star (average = 3). Doctor is experienced, knowledgeable, caring, and supportive. Staff is okay for basic stuff, but incompetent and rude if anything goes wrong (which happens quite a bit). Twice they billed my insurance incorrectly, and twice I had to spend months on the phone with insurance to avoid having to pay thousands of dollars I didn’t actually owe. Wish they had better staff… a great doctor but not worth the headache.

The office is very conveniently located across from the Brooklyn Museum and right by the 2 and the 3 trains. The staff is OK, not amazing but much better than at other medical offices. Now, the doctor is AMAZING, he is how all doctors should be — human. He talks to you, genuinely caring for your particular problem and an overall wellbeing. He is a great diagnostician and will see you in a hospital, if necessary. You can always work with Dr. Schuster; if you have an emergency, they’ll make sure to fit you in, if you work late, he’ll make sure that he sees you at the time when you can see him. As far as I know, he accepts a lot insurances. If the staff is not fulfilling your expectations 100%, just ask to speak with the doctor, he will get on the phone and speak with you. I recommend this office 100%.

Convenient location/​transportation
Dr. Schuster is a wonderful Dr. Some may feel more comfortable with a doctor of the same sex… but Dr. Schuster is easy to talk to with any concerns. Thorough check ups. .covers all medical concerns/​needs.
His staff is nice, helpful and speaks multiple languages — combined.
Confortable, friendly environment.
With my fluctuating work schedule… his hours are convenient on different days.

Dr. Schuster was my physician for 7 years. He is an outstanding doctor. Granted, there are some strong personalities on the front line, but it’s NYC, people. Attitude is nothing new. Be nice to them, treat them with respect, and you get the same in return. Dr Schuster’s aim was to keep me healthy, preventatively, and did a great job. But for things that popped up (allergies, panic attacks, ear infection, etal) he was fantastic.

Dr. Schuster is excellent. The supporting staff is far from that. They seem to always have an attitude. They consistently overbook their appointments here. Get ready to be here for the entire day if you have an appointment later than 230pm.

The staff is incredibly rude and unhelpful. Karen the business manager is incredibly unprofessional and is poorly equipped to deal with people, handling stress and understanding basic co payment policy. She erroneously overcharged me, $ 115 for the office visit. She became belligerent rude and positively rageful when I contested the charge. I had Aetna call her four times. she did not respond to the first two calls; she became enraged at the Aetna call person and when I called to follow up to finally receive my money. She screamed at me and then hung up the phone. The doctor is fine, but it’s not worth the headache to deal with the absolutely crazy and unhelpful staff. The office is also quite dirty as well.

Staff is very rude. Refused to give my husband refill on a medication he has been taking for 10+ yrs and which Dr. Schuster has prescribed for him before. They said he needed an appointment to get it bc «that is our policy.» Clearly the appointment was necessary simply so that they could get the insurance money. Extremely unethical. I work in healthcare and can assure you that this is NOT standard practice.
And as other people have said… EXTREMELY long waits, even if you have an appointment.
Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

Staff is wonderful, Dr. Schuster is informative and straight to the point. Handled all my needs appropriately and answered all my questions. Visit this office if you are ever in need of a great workers comp doctor!

This is my first Unilocal review… ever. I had such a BAD experience dealing with one Dr. Schuster’s nurse/​receptionist today that I will not ever go back. Total shame, because I’m actually very fond of Dr. Schuster himself and I think he’s a good doctor. And if you’ll notice, all the bad reviews of his office are about the women behind the desk. I called up to find out some information about a referral I needed. Whomever answered immediatly barked back that I just gotten one and it was good for 5 visits. I tried explaining that it wasn’t the case; she copped an attitude right away and asked me if I thought she didn’t know how to do her job? When I told her I didn’t appreciate her tone, she lost it on me. I mean YELLED and then hung up on me! I called back, furious, asked her why she hung up on me and she proceeded to yell at me again and hung up a second time! I mean this woman was so unbelievably unprofessional, its disgusting. So the best part is that she WAS WRONG. I called my insurance company and indeed, I did need to have a new referral because it was a different location. So all that bravado and defensiveness when all she had to do was hear me out. Seriously awful, awful, awful.

Dr. Schuster is great, very thorough and caring. However, my wife went in with a serious condition and was still left waiting in the exam room for nearly an hour. The Medical assistant is very brusque and defensive. The hours are very odd, but that can be an advantage if you need later appointments.

PROS:
They were able to fit me in to an appointment the same day I called.
Quick walk from my apartment; it’s right across from the Brooklyn Museum.
The girls behind the desk were pleasant.
Dr. Eliot is a nice guy and his accent didn’t render him incapable of being understood. He diagnosed me in all of 30 seconds. He is also genuinely concerned with his patients long-​term well-​being.
Cons:
I waited 45 minutes in the waiting room, and another 15 in the exam room before I got looked at, and I only needed to see the doctor for about 10 – 15 minutes.
Odd business hours: Mon & Wed 11 – 7, Tues 2 – 730, Fri 12 – 7, every other Sat 11 – 3
The «nurse» didn’t weigh me or measure me – she simply ASKED me what my stats were. She did check my blood pressure though. Her accent was pretty difficult to understand.
There was zero medical equipment in the exam room I was in, except for an exam table, sink, and a box of rubber gloves. I’m sorry – this IS a doctor’s office, right?
