Specialties
Simplicity is the hidden gem of East Bedford Stuyvesant. No longer just a wine bar, now serving a full line of spirits, Simplicity is the creation of Bed-Stuy native and passionate entrepreneur Chris Curiel, his wife Charisse and their uncle.
A true family business, at Simplicity you will often see the owner’s son engaging customers, talking about his latest super hero invention, or the daily grind of homework. Either way, Simplicity gives the neighborhood a place to relax, unwind, and enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine. Every guest can forget the stresses of the day — even if only for a moment — with their hands wrapped around a craft beer, whiskey or tall-stemmed glass filled with great wine.
Simplicity offers a large selection of wine, craft beer, whiskey, rum, vodka and other tasty spirits as well as their signature baked empanadas. Come for happy hour (Monday — Friday 4:30p to 9p), to watch a performance, listen to tunes or just unwind.
History
Established in 2012.
SWBC is the brainchild of longtime Bed-Stuy resident, Chris C who has always dreamed of having is own lounge. Wanting always for his place to be grown and sexy yet warm and inviting Simplicity was born. Together with his wife, Charisse and Uncle Joe the dream was realized and a warm almost living room-like space was created.
Meet the Business Owner
Chris C.
Business Owner
Chris spent the better part of his entire life within a half-block radius of SWBC. Chris always loved the night life but didn’t always care for going so far, going to Upper Manhattan or even waterfront New Jersey to listen to the different types music he loved — and not everyday was a party. Sometimes a Chris wanted to relax, meet people at a nice local space close to home.
Having spent his entire life managing stores around Brooklyn and earning them millions, Chris made a goal for himself; to have his own business by 35. His persistence paid off and a few months after his 35th his business was incorporated, he had partners: his wife and her uncle and he had a great space in beautiful Bedford-Stuyvesant close to everything he has always loved.
