I absolutely love this place!!! Looked everywhere for a perfect vintage inspired dress for my best friends themed bridal shower. After my best friend had given up hope I suggested we check it out. Renee the owner is such a doll and will make you feel beautiful. She knows exactly what looks good and what compliments your body. You never feel rushed and she provides the best attention. The quality of the clothing is perfection and she’s not the type of person that’s going to lie to make you buy an item. She tells you the truth !!!
I haven’t been so happy with my body and Renee was able to select the perfect dress to make me feel like a star and also compliment my figure. My best friend felt like a queen for her bridal shower. Renee is fabulous and takes time to help out everyone who comes into her shop. The clothes are all incredibly well-​made and wildly flattering. She carries Kenley Collins which is one of my favorite local designers. It’s great to go to a shop that sells quality clothes at affordable prices from really rad designers/​brands!

This place is rad. I’ve been shopping here for a month and a half now, and I have had nothing but stellar service from Renee and the crew here. Renee goes out of her way to make sure that you’re comfortable and fit in something that looks good on YOU. I’ve yet to make a purchase from here I regret. The sizing is on point, the staff is impeccable, and the body positivity is wonderful.

I have been searching high and low for a flamingo dress and came across it on Instagram. Being from Las Vegas I had to find a way to order it right away. I contacted them as fast as I could and they got back to me in minutes! They had me do an over the phone order which Renee was most helpful and very kind. After ordering it (on a Sunday I might add) my flamingo dress arrived that Wednesday with the perfect little flower to match as a gift! I am over the moon excited and can’t wait to take a trip to New York so I can personally go and thank them… and do a little shopping of course!

I was in here recently & absolutely loved everything about this shop! Even the owner was the cutest-​super rad style too! The prices are super reasonable & there’s no doubt anytime you go in there you’re walking out with something bought from this shop. I have so many weddings this Summer so I’ll be hitting up this store for the perfect «guest of» dress.

I love this shop– I love the sweet owner– it’s completely unique in every way. I have pushed so many people over to this cute little shop & everyone has shared my opinion. It’s a perfect combination of legit throwback vintage pieces & contemporary pin-​up (y) style. I just adore the Rock-​a-​billy vibe & killer tunes in the shop :)

Walked by this adorable shop on the way to Crown Vic. The clothes are super cute and reasonably priced. I bought a pair of sunglasses and they were $ 2 off because the L is down for a few weeks. The girl working was the nicest person ever, totally entertained my ridiculous antics trying on different things. She took some pics for us too and let us use some of the store prop decorations for them. Will definitely be back.

I think I actually squealed when I first stepped inside the store Slapback. It is an absolute paradise for the pin up, retro, vintage lover. Renee is so knowledgeable about fashion, makeup, accessories and how to wear these lovely articles of clothing. The store décor is super cute, especially the front window. The store itself gives off a comfortable, inviting experience. Every time I visit there are always new pieces to gush over. So do yourself a favor and get yourself to Slapback pronto!

I have social anxiety sometimes. And sometimes it’s really bad. It’s hard for me to walk into small, niche boutiques, because I feel like the staff will judge me for not knowing anything, or they won’t REALLY want to serve me because I don’t «look» the part, even if I aspire to look the part, or am in that store hoping to get the pieces for the part. Or they’ll be annoyed if I don’t buy anything, like I wasted their time, even if I only came to scope out the shop and intend to purchase later. Or they’ll be annoyed I took too long in the dressing room and didn’t buy anything, or annoyed I asked them questions and didn’t buy anything… You know when you’re not welcome, y’know.
When I walked into Slapback, feeling very shy, I was immediately greeted in a warm, friendly tone by the owner, who was chatting with some girls on the couch. I meekly browsed the clearance section, expecting at any moment to feel the Glare of Disdain I get when shopping clearance at nice boutiques sometimes, but nothing. And the owner did NOT ignore me — every once in a while, she’d offer a suggestion or a fun fact about something I was looking at, and as my arms filled up she got me started in the dressing room, and she continually and reassuringly let me know that she was there if I had questions on anything. But she didn’t push me or pressure me, she wasn’t all up my butt, she carried on her conversation — but was attentive to me the instant I needed anything.
Then as I tried things on and came out, she gave me her frank and honest opinions. The girls she was with did as well, in such a warm, sincere, friendly way that I felt reassured I wouldn’t be permitted to walk outside looking ridiculous in something ill-​fitting (anxiety, man! it’ll get ya!). I got a mega-​steal on a beautiful red wool coat which was just a skosh too long in the sleeves, so the owner recommended a nearby dry cleaner (Marta’s) for the alteration (which came out beautifully along with the pressing).
At every point, the owner was knowledgeable, welcoming, sincere, friendly, and helpful. And I really value that.
So I came back and dropped $ 500 on clothes today and I fully expect to do so until FOREVER.
(She was awesome today, too — fixed me a cuppa joe while I tried things on, recommended me great looks, threw in a free handmade hair flower, and even took my picture, blushing and squeeing, for the store instagram, which made me feel really special and pretty. Thank you so much.)

I’ve been feeling like balls lately.
What do I mean by «balls»?
Well, I’ve been feeling unsuccessful. Lonely. Isolated. Unattractive. All those negative adjectives. The only thing that’s been really cheering me up is my Instagram feed, upon which SlapBack advertised a 2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SALE! With items starting as low as $ 25, I knew I had to cut the pity party short and get my buttcheeks to Brooklyn.
I came in around 5 yesterday afternoon and was warmly greeted by the owner and her staff. With so many cute dresses to choose from, my indecisive self took forever to even try on anything. However, the staff was super patient with me. When I finally made my choices, they helped me find a fitting room, gave helpful feedback to how the dresses looked, and most importantly, helped with the zip-​ups. I ultimately settled on an adorable black dress with a houndstooth skirt that didn’t break my budget at $ 50. I felt so cute, feminine, and professional in the dress. I’d upload pics but the mirrors in my house suck. I’ll upload pics when I get a full-​length mirror haha.
Overall SlapBack is an incredibly unique store catering to the femme fatale in all of us. What really makes it stand out is the community the store creates. It’s impossible to come in and not start at least a short conversation with the staff or other shoppers. They even host events and such in the area. I would argue that SlapBack is worth a trip from the Bronx, if not further! Maybe even a 50 mile radius or so.
Brotip: Look for the rolling rack. That’s where they tend to keep sale items.

I love SlapBack. The owner Renee is very down to earth and personable. One of the things I loved was how welcome I felt the first time I came into the store. She often has sales and store events. She will even help you zip-​up or find the perfect fit. If you have a request-​she will also take note and try to get you something in your size or fit with future orders. It’s always a good time to swing by and see what is new. Follow the store Instagram, she updates it all the time with fresh merch. She also supports local talent-​music, makeup artists, events. Total gem.

The best shop ever. I wish I only lived closer! Owner Renee is the absolute sweetest and knows everything there is about all the items in the store. I may live far, but I still call her up to purchase a dress or two ;)

This is such a great shop filled with beautiful dresses that flatter every figure. Renee, the owner, is amazing. After I was done deciding which dresses I wanted to try on, Renee had snuck a couple ones I would not have thought to try on in the dressing room… each one was a great fit. (how amazing is it that she keeps a spare pair of high heels in the dressing room so you can get the full effect, even if you come in sneakers). It was hard not to walk out of there with the entire store in a bag.
I had a great experience at Slapback and will definitely return.

Renee is a doll and the clothes are a Pin-​Up Girl, Wiggle Dress, Rockabilly-​festival of fun and kitsch. I shopped the St. Patty’s sale and scored a bunch of cute dresses, tops, jewelry and hair clips and would have shopped more if I were not already late for lunch with friends.
It’s the store I always wished for, ever since I first encountered pinup vintage heaven in New Orleans about 10 years ago. Hurm… but better since it is in my backyard. Ladies? You’re gonna love her and her stuff…
