This is a conveniently located Korean food joint in Brooklyn, where Korean food is otherwise hard to find. The interior is gastropub-esque and very spacious. There is also a backyard for those who desire outdoor seating. Service was attentive and food came out rather fast. Would recommend the bibimpbap.

With hungry heart and empty stomach, it was like love at first sight when you showed a nice patio with open seats. My previous relationship with modern Korean food left me dreaming for more and like the words of the author of a certain shade of gray, I bit my lips with hope of satisfaction when I saw the menu. Your Aranchini got me all hot and bothered. Then you teased me with your little bit of delicious and spicy kimchi(although tasted very similar to something I had out of a jar at wholefood). Then you just left me hanging and dirty… your service was shameful and you didn’t even give me a plate to enjoy my appetizers… I felt so sloppy eating my Aranchini on my napkin. To make things worse, you ran out of kimchi??? Oh I also had your buns on my lips and I will say… they were soft, white, but underwhelming. I am not afraid to say it this time. It’s totally you and not me! I will make sure our affair is the first and last one for us…

Just had THEWORST experience. Terrible service and terrible food. First, our waitress(who was also the bartender) forgot our appetizer and brought it mid-meal. I ordered the veggie lasagna, and when it arrived the middle was ICECOLD. I asked to send it back and instead of offering me something else, our waitress whisked it back into the kitchen where it was CLEARLYMICROWAVEDTODEATH. It came back to me literally boiling and blackened around the edges. Any veg in that lasagna was completely zapped of all taste… I will never come back here.

I’m about to call my main man Gordon Ramsey for a Kitchen Nightmares renovation. It appeared as though the restaurant is trying to find itself and journeying through different Asian fusion attempts on its way. All I can say is it has a while to go on its way to find enlightenment. I ordered the short ribs and it fit the name: literally four small pieces of rib. I also ordered some«American» sides, which were pretty awful. Like, my meal at theme parks has been way better. Not only that, but our meal took 2 and a half hours and we had to go get the waiter for menus, for the check, etc. A terrible experience overall. I don’t want to heap on this place, but it was the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in NYC. Other ratings have been positive, but I think it was from a foregone era at Sujo/Ella/whatever they are called. Let’s hope they can go back to their glory days. I likely will never find out.

Honestly, what a hole. My party of seven was lured in by the sweet promise of a back patio and(relatively) affordable menu. We were duped. It took about an hour and a half for the server to bring the first round of food — I say«first round» because every plate they brought out was incorrect and they had to turn right back around and start over. When the correct dishes finally came, they were very bland or just flat out bad. This was probably the worst service I have ever had in my life, and I once had a waiter drop a tray of red wine on my head. These people were not friendly or personable at all. We only saw our server 4 times in the 2+ hours we were there and at one point they turned the lights off on us. Oof. On a scale of one to five, I give Sujo(now Ella?) all of my worst childhood memories.

I rarely write Unilocal reviews, but let me say, this place is so slow, I can’t even remember when we arrived. I hope the food is good. I don’t know, because we haven’t received it. Lol. Also, we were given spoons and knives. No forks. Also, my friend just got a «side of greens»…literally lettuce with a «hint» of olive oil. Yikes you guys. Yikes.

The soondubu is just tofu, onion, and egg… So bland! and they did not include any side dishes, as advertised, with my delivery!

Friendly service. Asian fusion. Fries are good. Thought the chicken wings had too much sauce-they were actually better the next day. Tilapia bun also good.

The atmosphere is hip and fun. The service is laid back and the budje is delicious! It is what you think of when you think chic Williamsburg. Good music and a wooded deck area in the back add to your experience. I also admire they’re decorations throughout, which includes a huge window directly in front of the restaurant.

The first time I tried this place was at an elite event. It was a great way to sample their items off the menu. I came by here before another elite event a few blocks away. My plus one and I arrive early so we decided to grab some HH drinks in the area. I told my friend that I enjoyed myself last time I came, so we decided to chill in this place for the time being. This place is a few steps from the train. For the HH drinks, they have well drinks, I guess some beer(sorry, I don’t care for beer so I didn’t hear if she said beer or not)…but no wine. My friend and I ordered pineapple vodka and sujo fries. As of now, that’s my favorite dish because I love fries. And when you add braised short ribs, melted cheese, pico de gallo and sour cream, I love it even more. We also ended up coming back later that night, after the event. I ordered the bibimbap. It was good but I prefer the fries…

Sujo is so, so good. The bibimbap is good. The chicken ramyun is good. The fries are good. The pork buns are good. Pretty much everything = delicious. Oh, and the drinks are… awesome(you thought I didn’t have another word for good, did you?!). Try the Perilla, it does not disappoint. I thought nothing could replace my dear, sweet Ella(the brunch place that used to live here) — but I’m over her like a bad ex. Sujo is my new love. And I hope she’ll be here to stay.

updating to a 1 star — i’ve been trying to reach this place since 12, the time they are supposed to be open. it is now 2 and I still can’t get them — and you can’t leave a voicemail. In fact, it seems like this might be a fax machine since you get the piercing sound after the phone rings 3 or 4 times. They took my bf’s credit card last night and the server failed to give it back to him with the receipts. Additionally, I finally looked at my food that I had to go last night and it’s 80% white rice, a little bit of chicken, carrots and spinach — so basically we paid $ 15 for a $ 8 worthy meal. xxx This is a nice looking venue, but I came here tonight for a meal and was so cold that my mood was affected and I had to get my food to go because I would rather eat it in the car than freeze to death in the restaurant eating food that would’ve probably gotten cold within minutes of being dropped off. Yes, it was warmer earlier on in the day, but at night when the temperature drops, why are all of the doors and windows open, the fan going and what seems like ac whirling? It just makes absolutely no sense. On to the actual review of the food and service — My bf ordered the wings and seemed happy with them. I got a chicken hot pot but as I mentioned couldn’t eat them there because I was so uncomfortably miserable — shaking in my chair and trying to heat my hands up over the small candle on the table. The service was just fine. Pretty quick, friendly and accommodating.

Last nights experience at SUJO was fun because it was my 1st event as a Brooklyn Elite member. The location of SUJO is perfect and I’m sure the owner and the staff will be very busy given the very active and bustling Soho-like community. Not only is the location prime but what management did with this mid-sized restaurant is quite creative and artistic. I loved the art along the walls and I also found the Polaroids posted to be quite creative and entertaining. The staff was very attentive and the chef was helpful in explains each dish sample. As for the food, I was a bit underwhelmed and perhaps that’s because I don’t normally eat Korean food and I was dinning with such a large group. To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect but given all the great reviews I’ve heard about Korean BBQ, I guess I expected to be wowed. Sadly, my palate didn’t experience a wow. So with that said, I won’t say much more about the food until I return for an actual sit down dinner with a friend or alone.

Enjoyed a late lunch there on Sunday. Had the short rib buns. Good flavour on the meat but I didnt get a lot from the menu-listed jalepeno-cilantro sauce. The bun itself was good, not dry which a lot of places are. The dish was a little greasy & could have used a little more filling to balance the amount of bun. Entrées were Pork Ramyun & Pulled Chicken Burrito. The broth of the ramyun was really, very good and got better the longer the vinegar pickled mushrooms soaked. The pork belly was a good portion size — 2 pieces– but not great flavour. The fatty parts were not flavourful and the meaty part was so tough I couldn’t eat it. I ended up taking the pork out and just enjoying the meal without it. My better half enjoyed the pulled chicken burrito, it was a little dry but good. The server was very nice but a little discombobulated. She seemed new and a little flustered with only 7 patrons. Lots of smiles from her though which always goes a long way for me. I would definitely go back for the ramyun & to try some of the other menu items other Unilocalers have mentioned. Lunch menu is a little cheaper than regular one, but only by about $ 2.

The last 3 deliveries from this place: 1.) 2 hour delivery time. They were not picking up the phone for me to cancel. By the time they came I had already ordered from somewhere else. I sent them away and they still charged my card. 2.) delivery came with no sauces napkins or cutlery 3.) after waiting an hour for an online delivery I was called and told that they are not delivering. How can people be so bad at their jobs? Blows my mind…

Really impressed with Sujo. Being Korean, I’m always very critical of Korean restaurants. Whats nice about Sujo is that they do not try to be authentic, they play off of Korean very nicely. Here’s my rundown: Pulled Pork Buns — Really good, a bit on the surprisingly spicy side Short Rib Buns — Really good with nice tender big well marinated pieces of short rib Pulled Pork Burrito — Not very Korean in taste, but great none the less. Actually would be a great choice for friends that are weary of Korean food. Everyone at our table thought it was simply an excellent burrito Bulgogi Ssam — Well prepared and very authentic tasting. The sauces were perfect compliment. Would order this every time. Daen Jang Jigae — This is definitely not DaenJang Jigae which tends to be very thick and pungent. It is more of a light miso soup with shrimp and some veggies. Definitely good if you’re looking for a light soup, but not a traditiional Jigae/stew. Kimchee Juns — Could probably have done without this one. Was a big limp and not as crispy as Juns should be. Overall really liked this restaurant and would recommend as a solid Korean fusion spot. Will definitely be going back.

Solid Korean addition to Williamsburg They have a lot of traditional dishes and a few Asian Fusion items. They also have a full bar with a few beers on top and special cocktails. Me and my GF shared the Chicken Ramen and Pork Bibim Bap. Both dishes were delicious with an authentic presentation. The ramen had mushrooms that I don’t usually eat but these were delicious. I would have liked some more chicken in my dish but I usually think dishes need a little more protein. The service was friendly and attentive and the meal was $ 35 with tax and tip included. Will be back to try some other menu options and drinks.

I absolutely loved this place. Best food I’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. The fried chicken wings for an appetizer were amazing. The sauce was thicker than a normal chicken wing sauce but it was unique and great. I ordered the chicken ramen which was delicious and had a ton of flavor! My sister ordered the kolbi and she absolutely loved it. Our waitress is now part of our family!

I’m pretty happy to have a good Korean joint in the area, finally! We went last night on a whim on the way back from visiting Catbird, and was pleasantly impressed. Ordered the Kalbi Roll, which was much bigger than I was expecting considering we ordered it as an appetizer. It’s more like a kalbi burrito – very tasty! Date ordered the spicy pork bibimbap, which came piping hot in a stone bowl, perfect egg, and just overall delicious! The pork tastes like it was claypot cooked. I ordered the bulgogi, which came with lettuce, kimchi, rice, and 3 condiments – a green sauce, a green onion spread, chili paste, and a ponzu wasabi dip. It was really good with good cuts of meat. The portions are good sized, has a decent selection on the menu, and the space is comfortable. Not saying it’s the most authentic or anything, I’m just happy to have a good Korean food option in the ‘burg.

Fantastic and delicious meal! The best Bibim Bap in Williamsburg! Second time in Sujo. Friendly staff and the Jalapeño Margarita drink is off the hook. Lol! Opened a bit over 2 months ago, replaced Ella after the fire in the residential bldg next door and I will definitely be back since I have a prvt space on Bedford.
