Tabeel Hair Locking Center

I absolutely love going to Tabeel’s for my locs. I started going here last summer after reading all the great reviews about her place and I can confirm them. Tabeel is a wonderful women who is fun to be around and talk to. From the moment I entered her salon, I felt completely comfortable like she was my aunt. She takes time to engage her customers and she remembered details about me from the first visit. She has great knowledge about hair and she even makes you fill out a sheet about how you take care of your hair before she even touches it. Besides doing a beautiful job, she completes it in a timely fashion too. That’s pretty important for me because I have a lot of hair and I don’t want to be in a place for five hours (which has happened before). She doesn’t lock your hair too tight and she doesn’t put too many products in your hair. On top of all of this, the prices that she offers are completely affordable. I am so blessed that I have found a place I can call home.

I’ve been going to Tabeel for 14 years! She is very knowledgable about hair care and overall healthy living. She started my locs and I would not go anywhere else. It has always been worth the trip from Queens. She is a true professional and expert! My whole family uses the oils and other hair care products that I buy from her shop. The best!!!

Tabeel is where you should get your locks done in New York City. I lived in San Francisco for almost 10 years and still came back to Tabeel to get my hair enriched and restored 3 times a year when I visited. Her knowledge of black hair is unparalleled and her products made by her own hand for keeping your locks and your body beautiful in between visits have no equal. Tabeel does not carry any product in her store that she would not use herself meaning they are certifiably whole products with no additives or unnatural ingredients. She had been a Park Slope staple for years way before Unilocal and most of the businesses that surround her and with excellent reason.

I like the concept of the store. I like that that she has books about health for reading. The vibe of the place is nice. However, I will not be going back. I had requested that I had wanted my hair curly for a special occasion. She talked me out of it and suggested I get corkscrews. She told me it would take hours for my hair to dry. My hair isn’t thick and looking back I feel she wanted to take the easy way out. When she was finished I absolutely hated the style. So much so it ruined my plans of going out for the weekend because I didn’t have any scarves or a turban to cover my head. I really wanted to like the place but I will not be going back. I can find other ways to blow $ 78 dollars and be happier with the end result.

I started going to Tabeel when I was having a hair crisis and it was the best thing I have done, not only for my hair, but also for my body and my soul. Tabeel (and Niyea) not only keeps my locks beautiful and healthy, but she also gives me advice and guidance to help keep my body and soul in a healthy, growing space. She did my hair (stunning) for my wedding ceremonies and also did my mother’s and sister’s hair. She is practically family — a wise, fun and inspiring family member. I am so glad that I started going there — every experience I have there is enriching. Also, the appointments I have there are a total social experience — I learn the stories and experiences of others and I always leave with a little more knowledge and a better hairstyle than when I walked in.

I’ve been a client for over 10 years. Makes your locks look like they are vibrant every time. Now Tabeel has gotten into fashion. I have a few of her pieces. I can’t wait for her new line to be revealed.

The service and quality of hair care is excellent. Tabeel is creative, knowledgeable, and experienced. Her styles are unique and her products all natural and awesome. The Konjo body butter and hair/​skin oils are great (my favorites are Green Tea, Smooth, and Rain). I highly recommend anyone who is considering locing their hair or who has natural hair to go to Tabeel’s.

When ever I go to Tabeel’s to get my hair locked it’s like I am going to visit family. Tabeel is a very knowledgeable loctician and works to make sure your locks are groomed properly. Her shop is also filled with so many gifts and treasures for anyone, locks or not! I love it here and as long as I have locks I will be a patron.

I started going here a few years ago before I cut my locs. She’s an excellent loctician, but she has her quirks.
