Canaille offers traditional Gallic bistro food including steak and moules frites, French onion soup, charcuterie and French cheese plates. We have housemade pates, foie gras and special desserts. Daily appetizer specials and plats du jour are also offered. Canaile has been described as the perfect eating experience in great food, fantastic selection of wines and ambience.
History
Established in 2007.
Canaille Bistro Francais was established in October 2007 and from its inception, it has been described as a welcome addition to Park Slope’s Fifth Avenue Restaurant Row. Just 10 tables, Canaille is a small, intimate bistro that offers delicious French bistro food, great French wines and a romantic environment. In 2008, Canaille received an exceptional overall Zagat rating and was subsequently featured on NY 1’s «Zagat Review» segment.

Philippe and Marie C.
Business Owner
As a sommelier and wine trader for many years, Philippe as become known for the great selection of affordable French wines on Canaille’s wine list. Offering the «best French wine by the glass for under $ 10, it is not unusual for customers to look to Philippe to choose their wines without even glancing at the wine list.
Marie, who manages Canaille Bistro, has an eclectic background including as an ABC News producer. Interviewing heads of state, superstars and the «man on the street,» has given Marie a unique perspective and has helped forge wonderful relationships with her customers.
Together, Philippe and Marie provide a great dining experience at Canaille Bistro.
