The Mac Support Store has great customer service and I was thrilled that they looked at my computer and got back to me within a day to give me a quote. I had already been contemplating buying a new computer which I decided to do when I saw the quote so I was thrilled that they did not charge me for the diagnosis. Very friendly and helpful… will definitely go back!

Have no clue why this place is not 6 stars. Most likely because people were angry that they fried their macs

Friendly people and great service. They ran a free diagnostic on my MacBook Pro, and provided a quick response. I ended up choosing not to have it serviced because they do not accept AppleCare but they were extremely professional and helpful.

I replaced my late 2010 Macbook Air battery and these guys were awesome. I dropped it off in the morning and picked it up on my way home from work.
I took off a star for the following reason:
1. I overheard a technician tell a customer that El Capitan requires 8GB of ram to run. Not to run well, or efficient, but as a minimum requirement. That’s not true. El Capitan has a minimum requirement of 2GB to run, which I verified with Apple Support when I updated to El Capitan on my Macbook Air. I’m not sure if they were trying to upsell ram, but that’s a little messed up in my opinion.

Took in a damaged iPhone. They assessed but I elected to not have repair, not cost effective. Really super communication with Judi who listened and noted accordingly. Will certainly consider them for any future out-​of-​warranty service as well as purchasing refurbished/​reconstructed modules. ++

I took my MacBook Pro in for help with a WiFi connection issue. There was no charge for the diagnostic test, and when they couldn’t replicate the problem, they also put it through an additional stress test for free just to be sure! And as part of the diagnostic, they checked the WiFi card (hardware) to make sure it was connected properly. Apparently, that fixed the issue because I haven’t had that problem again! The only reason I’m not putting in 5 stars is that a few different people seemed to be handling the case, and I had to explain it to each one again, so they could use better note-​taking and communication within the office. Otherwise — great service!

Incredible customer service! I took my computer here for a problem I was having with installing windows software, something that isn’t even in their scope. Regardless, they are were happy to help me and SO patient and understanding. Thanks Mac Support for saving the day!

Came in to get my iPhone fixed. The screen had lifted off the base and the digitizer went awry. They fixed it on the spot (I went in upon opening on NYE morning). I thought the charge was reasonable – $ 160. I have had a crack repaired with a company called iCracked and they charged me $ 100 to get just the screen replaced (yes, I’ve sunk a lot of money already on this device!). They even put the tempered glass guard on as a favor. Highly recommend. I hope I won’t have to use them again!

REALLY nice helpful place!
There was no wait! A friendly tech person fixed all my problems quickly. So, so, so much easier than going into Manhattan to the Genius Bar.

I’ve had good luck both times I’ve been here. They’re very helpful, knowledgeable, and give lots of free advice. They could have kept my iPad for a repair, but instead sent me home to do a quick fix that worked. Service can be slow if it’s busy, but worth it!

Have used the Mac support store a couple of times, most recently for data recovery after some hard drive corruption. Have always found them to be fair, straightforward, and easy to do business with. From a technical perspective, they know their stuff.

Very sweet and helpful. They want to run a «free diagnostics» however the fix from that was another 90+ dollars so I just had the inital. problem fixed and bypassed the rec. The computer works fine.

Quick, professional, excellent service. Took my laptop in for a new battery. All the service staff was friendly, and the waiting area was very comfortable. I appreciated the experience and will definitely go back rather than struggle through a Genius Bar situation far from my home. So convenient to Park Slope, right in Gowanus!

welp, i hadn’t backed up in 578 days or something like that so of course i got what i deserved and was totally f’d. apple couldn’t help and told me i’d have to go to apple store and it would be wiped and… crying.
i decided to try to find someone who could extract data before wiping. google brought me here. i’m so grateful. computer restored, data restored. only 1 week and $ 250. plus some free follow-​up TLC and advice.

It’s so nice to be able to support a small business run by a local family. My experience has always been positive their prices are reasonable they do very quick work and they’re so polite and easy to work with.

So a year after I posted the review below, and only two weeks after the manager responded «I’m glad you brought this to our attention. Thanks for your feedback!», I receive a cease-​and-​desist letter from the Mac Support Store accusing me of defamation, slander and/​or libel.
Guys: You thanked me for my feedback. You changed battery vendors because apparently you didn’t trust your old one. Tell me what I got wrong and I’ll gladly edit my review.

In October 2014 they charged me 870 bucks to repair my logic board, which was presumably the reason my MacBook would randomly shut down. A few months later my computer started shutting down randomly again and unfortunately the Mac Support Store warranty lasts 90 days (gee I wonder why). I paid so much money to fix my computer and in just a few short months it was back to where it had been.

So now I understand why there are so many bad reviews. As others have mentioned, the business practices here are unethical. I brought my computer in for a new battery, and specifically brought it to an Apple Authorized repair shop to ensure that I would receive Apple parts, and have no issues bringing my computer into the Apple store in the future. So you can imagine my surprise when, less than a month after having the battery changed, I went to the Apple store, and the diagnostic noted the battery was «bad.» So I emailed the Mac Support Store to let them know I wanted to have Apple re-​install a «good» battery, to which Jeff, the owner responded, «Please bring it back» with no punctuation, and no explanation.
So I take a long lunch from work to bring the computer in, only for the front desk person to tell me that they had installed a third-​party battery (which Jeff could have simply said in the email), and that third-​party batteries aren’t read by Apple Diagnostics. The issue is that I was NEVER told that I would be receiving third-​party equipment. I was NEVER asked if that was ok, or if I agreed to have a third-​party part or ANYTHING. Apple installs their batteries at the Genius Bar for basically the same price, so why would I want a third-​party battery when I could get a factory battery? The front desk person explained that these third-​party batteries actually function better than the factory batteries, which, while this may or may not be true, is not my concern. I have an expensive piece of equipment that I wished to have factory parts in — and that should be my choice. However, I was not given a choice because I was NEVER told that they would replace my Apple battery with a third-​party battery. This practice is simply unethical — especially since, being an Authorized Apple store, one would imagine that products would be Apple products, and if not, that you would be ASKED and given the option of whether or not you wished to continue with the repair with outside products.
So because of the vague email response of, «Please bring it back», I brought the computer in (delaying it from being dropped off at Apple so they could repair another issue, and thusly keeping me from doing my own work for another day), and rather than taking their battery and giving me my money back as I had wanted, I was pretty much forced to keep this third-​party battery. They replaced the battery with… you guessed it… another third-​party battery, and explained that it functions better than the Apple battery, but still reads as «bad» because it is not factory equipment. So basically… they didn’t tell me they weren’t using factory equipment, and wouldn’t give me my money back (forcing me to keep this non-​factory equipment) once I «discovered» that the battery was not from Apple.
While this may not seem like a big deal, it simply unethical to put third-​party pieces into people’s machines without asking or telling them, and to not allow them to return the third-​party equipment once they «find out» that what you’ve sold them is not an Apple product. Nowhere is there even any info in the store that says that the batteries are third-​party. and since Apple charges the same price for their batteries and install, it seems as though they don’t let you know that on purpose. Just take your machine to Apple.

I’m not sure what everyone is twitchy about. They put new life in my desktop, saving me thousands it would cost to purchase a new comparable Mac machine. Everyone thrashing this place needs to understand that Macs simply aren’t what they used to be. It’s well documented that machines made after 2011 are made to break after a few years. So all you with laptops purchased around that time or shortly after are reaping the seeds sown by the company’s change in business strategy.
My experience at Mac Support was great. Made an appointment, they ran diagnostics in front of me, and explained my options. I selected the minimum option. It still ran me over $ 250 dollars, but my 2007 machine now purrs like a kitten. I even waited a few months to make sure the updates and hardware upgrades really took. They did. I’m thrilled. And my bank account iOS smiling back at me with $ 2,000 extra dollars I thought I was destined to spend.
