History

Established in 2009.

On October 25, 2009, history was made. The Pulp and The Bean officially opened its doors for business. Opening a coffee shop had always been a dream for local businessman/community activist Tony Fisher. Pulp & Bean now has become a destination for all members of the community, has received the attention of several media outlets, and had been the hot topic of local chatter since before its opening day. Now people in Brooklyn have something to be proud of. Tony Fisher has created an unorthodox business model. In his community-minded spirit the Pulp & Bean purchases all supplies, pastries, and coffee from Brooklyn-based family businesses. The Pulp & Bean is also powered by green power. A central wind turbine unit located atop the store provides electric. All unsold product at the end of the day is donated to local churches and homeless organizations throughout Brooklyn.

Meet the Business Owner

Tony F.

Business Owner

Tony is too modest to write about himself, so this biography is being written by a dedicated employee. Tony is a lifelong resident of Brooklyn whose family grocery business has served the Brooklyn community for over 40 years. Tony is the shining star of Franklin Avenue. Everybody in the neighborhood knows him and he has a smile and hello for all the widows and children who pass within his benevolent gaze. All of his employees look up to him as a mentor, and he treats us with the firm hand and unconditional love of an ideal Father. Not only is he beloved here at home, but as an international world traveller he earns the adulation of the peoples of many lands. Come to the Pulp & The Bean to bask in his warmth!
