History

Established in 2009.

Established in 2009 On October 25, 2009, history was made. The Pulp and The Bean officially opened its doors for business. Opening a coffee shop had always been a dream for local businessman/community activist Tony Fisher. Pulp & Bean now has become a destination for all members of the community, has received the attention of several media outlets, and had been the hot topic of local chatter since before its opening day. Now people in Brooklyn have something to be proud of. Tony Fisher has created an unorthodox business model. In his community-minded spirit the Pulp & Bean purchases all supplies, pastries, and coffee from Brooklyn-based family businesses. The Pulp & Bean is also powered by green power. A central wind turbine unit located atop the store provides electric. All unsold product at the end of the day is donated to local churches and homeless organizations throughout Brooklyn.
