The food is very good. At times, the service is slow. They should have an extra person behind the counter. I have one small complaint. They need to explain the half-unit surcharge. Chicken is 6.99 a pound. But if I buy ½ a chicken it is 7.99 a pound. The salad is 2.99 a pound. But if I buy ½ a pound, it is 2.00.

The vegetable soup is good. It’s more like a barley and bean soup. It’s made daily and is good year round. The fried chicken is good and the BBQ chicken too. Once in a while they make chicken in a tomato sauce with onions sort of like a cacciatore. I always get that if they have it. One thing that does bother me is the guy behind counter always tries to give you more than you ask for. Once I wanted one price of chicken he said its small want two? After he wrapped it. So I took his word and said yes. He gave me two huge pieces. It’s all about the up sell there. Whenever you order your food he says sternly«vot else». Like there’s a minimum or something.

My weekly dish is the rotisserie chicken and the sweet potato kugel is exceptional! However, my favorite part is when the guy behind the counter, who mind you has a photographic memory knows exactly what my husband, kids and I like, and knows us all by name. Delicious Shabbat specials.

Food is good and the prices reasonable. However, the fact that they do not accept credit cards In this day and age precludes me from giving them five stars.

The food is great. I picked up some chicken kugel and soup along with a stuffed cabbage tonight. I am a regular, although I live on Staten Island, my mother is still kicking it in Brooklyn. When I visit, I often stop at Tov to pick up something. I am never disappointed. Everything I mentioned above was great, as is their chopped liver, pastrami and corned beef. THEKEY — the chicken and soups just cannot be beat in flavor. The chicken is so savory and soups hearty. YUM I always buy enough to bring some home for the next day. The service is a friendly home style courteous.

You ask how did I hear about this place? I was getting my nails done and this lady comes in boasting about this great kosher fried chicken she just ate. So of course, my «greedy girl» radar turned right on and asked her for the address. I decided to make a pit stop for lunch to pick up said fried chicken. This takeout spot doesn’t have signage that will punch you in the face, so it can be a little hard to find. The inside is pretty dim, but I did notice the chicken out the corner of my left eye glistening oh so brightly. This week happens to be kosher restaurant week in Brooklyn(how apropos) but this place wasn’t participating.* I scooped up 4 pieces… hey, I had to bring the man some too, he’s just as greedy as me. And yes, that lady bless her heart was right. The fried chicken is good. Not too greasy and just the right amount of crunch. Yeah, I’ll go back for more and I’ll try some soup. Someone was ordering it and it looked good. *Technically I participated, right?

Excellent Kosher food! Tov U’mai Tiv caters for all events held by my company and our customers absolutely love the food and rave about it every year.

This is one of the better kosher take-out stores in Brooklyn. The absolute tastiest thing they make is a gargantuan meat knish; the filling is predominately well-seasoned meat, in a flaky, slightly sweet pastry. A masterful offering, and very affordable. In fact, a meat knish here and a meatball(they’re moist and in a simple sauce) is a more than substantial meal. I look forward to being able to sample more of their offerings in the future. My only caveat is that the beverages are overpriced, but for that, the deli next store offers better prices.

This is a family run place, and the staff are SUPER nice. I use to be a regular here, until the City made them remove their tables and chairs, b/c their operating license is apparently for take-out only. VERY bummed about this ! A hot sandwich is not particulary hot after you drive back with it 20 min. on a bike. In addition, they seem to never have brisket, chopped liver, or stuffed derma aka kishke. They always say«wrong day» or «we’ll have it on Friday» or something. The other cuts here are just ok. Also, no noodle pudding/kugel by the slice — you have to buy your own personal slab. I really want to say more nice things about this place, b/c I was a regular for a long time, and b/c the staff is so nice. The above items would have to first be remediated, though.

The food is very gadget and the prices are reasonable. The lines can get crazy so I suggest you call in your order and then go to pick it up. The pick-up line is always small and fast. The one thing I hate about this place is that it doesn’t take credit cards. COMEONGUYS!!!
