Beware. We will never return here. Waiter offered chips and Salsa as we sat down. We never thought to ask the price(our fault I guess, but most Mexican restaurants offer them complementary). When the bill came we were charged $ 10 for them. When I asked the waiter he said — oh it’s on the menu so i have to charge you. Really felt like a scam since the chips cost more than the chicken burrito! We now have a terrible stomach ache from the food. And yes this is a Mexican restaurant not Italian. Never again.

Decent vibe, decent service, bland food. That’s really it. A star for the server being nice, a star for the place and a star because it’s in my neighborhood.

This place is a Mexican restaurant, not Italian. Excellent food. Huge portions and very flavorful. The prices are awesome as well. Traditional Mexican atmosphere and excellent service. I would go back anytime I head to the Barclay’s center for an event.

This place is a Mexican food diner — not an Italian joint — as wrongly noted in this place’s description heading. Decent food, typical dishes, and nice atmospheric part of the refreshed part of Brooklyn. Came here eating alone while on a business trip. Would definitely be back.

Whenever I walk past this place and see people outside I want to run up to them and tell them to leave. My boyfriend had the worst food poisoning of his life and I had the grossest pesto ever known to man. I know it’s a good deal since it’s on but seriously it’s just awful. Avoid!!!

I foolishly went here for Valentine’s Day. Their brunch was terrible, disgusting, and other similar adjectives. Our brunch comes with unlimited coffee(which is really like water with coffee essence), and they couldn’t remember to refill it… this is especially strange, as we were the only other customers aside from a loud and homophobic group of 16 year old boys. It was a really bad place to be on Valentine’s Day. I still like their baked clams and penne alla vodka, but I may have to order out next time. I won’t be going back soon.

ARE you kidding me? Let me preface by saying that I have been coming to this place for a few years, solely because it is the cheapest of all the unlimited brunch spots in the neighborhood. It was always a joke that the food was terrible, but the service was great, and there’s outdoor seating in the summer. To call my most recent meal there a catastrophe would be a generous understatement. First of all, none of the great staff that we remembered were working there. We sat down to peruse the menu, and the waiter came over to take our order. We said we needed a moment, but we’d love to start with champagne. He said that he could not serve us until we ordered food«BECAUSETHECAMERASWEREWATCHING.» I… don’t even know what that means. So, we order — including a burger which we asked for«medium rare. just please make sure it’s not well-done.» About 10 minutes, 3 requests, and two shoo-shoos from the waiter later, we FINALLY got a drink. Is this a money-saving technique to preserve as much $ 3/bottle prosecco as possible? Nightmare. When the food finally came, the burger was CLEARLY one of those frozen patties that you pop out of the freezer and directly into like a deep-fryer or something. And it was grey, through and through. After the waiter trying to convince us that it was, in fact medium, he finally took it away and brought us some pasta. I feel bad, because the pasta and pizzas(just don’t order sausage, it’s gross) are good enough to be passable for an $ 11 unlimited brunch. However, the service was so negligent and, at times, rude, that I never ever want to go back there again. Hit Scottadito for delicious food served by attentive staff that keep your flutes full. It’s worth the extra $ 5.

Before I go in about this restaurant it would be a crime to not speak on the hotness of the waitress, and in a world full of fuglies and minuses this of course always a plus. However that is not the only thing that makes this restaurant a five star in the right angled hotspot in BK that is also known as Park Slope. The food selection is pretty dope and I some margaritian pizza(if that even makes sense). Check this spot and tip the waitress… I’d like to… er…tip the waitress, and tell em’ Jordan sent you give em’ an «oww oww» while your at it… atta wayyyyy… el o el…

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 9 years but had never been to Trattoria Mangia before. But I went here for the first time for lunch yesterday with my husband and his parents. And, unfortunately, I thought it was awful. There were at least four open tables and we were told there was a five minute wait for a table, because they awkwardly rearranged several tables before they would seat us. It made no sense at all. Then, the way the table was set up, no one could walk by the table without bumping my father-in-law’s chair. So they finally sat us, and it took another five minutes till they brought us water and menus. The service was downright terrible. Then they forgot our drink orders, and we had to flag down the waiter to re-order our drinks. Also we had to constantly ask for more water, and the food took so long that we had to ask for more bread. They never came over to check on us, just kept us waiting and waiting. Not to mention that it was uncomfortably cold inside the restaurant(admittedly, it was very cold yesterday — but it was FREEZING inside, too). All four of us thought our food was actually decent, pretty tasty, but it was kind of expensive for lunch and not at all worth the very long wait and crappy service. I would never go here again.

First night in New York, and I was fading fast. I had taken a red eye from San Francisco and only slept on the plane for an hour or two. Even after a cat nap at Mo P’s pad I was drained. Probably didn’t help we started the day with an all you drink drink brunch at Bondi, followed by more drinking and a day of walking on the Accomplice tour, more drinks at the Dove for happy hour… you get the point… I was done. When it came time for dinner we were stumped. No one could agree on anything, we just knew we were starving. So when we walked by Trattoria Mangia, even though it was not on the list, we checked out the menu. We grabbed a seat outside since it was a nice night, but the inside is adorably decorated. I had the parpadelle with sausage and peas. So good I couldn’t leave one bite left, despite the resistance from my stomach. I was pretty much in a coma from then on. Sorry for the silent treatment Mo and Celeste, I was sleeping with my eyes open.

Baddah, bahm bahm bahhhmmm, I’m lovin’ it. Yes, I’m borrowing the theme song from McDonalds, because it is highly inaccurate when describing Mickey-D’s food… I thought we could apply it to a new restaurant. Voila! I give you Trattoria Mangia. I’m lovin’ it long time in regards to the food. All three dinner entrees my table ordered were flavorful and nicely presented, and decently priced. I’m lovin’ it less so in regards to the service. While our server ambitiously tried to chirp the evening’s specials, her service was pretty scattered — sometimes hovering like a UFO over our table, other times… we were left wondering if a UFO ‘napped her. Overall, I’d say we’re clockin’ in this little piece of Italy at a 3.75 stars. Wrap up those loose ends of spaghetti, and they’ll be rocking five stars in no time.

Had a quick dinner here with a friend recently on a Tuesday night. Not many people in the place, but the room definitely gets cozy-feeling once the sun goes down. Staff is relatively inexperienced and not as friendly(or quick) as they could be/should be, but they sure seem to like each other. And that’s always nice to see. But our server had a hard time looking at us while telling us about the specials — we were outdoors and he just stared down the street while he recited them. What’s up with that? The Chicken Francese was really delicious. The steamed vegetables that came with it were nothing to crow about. At all. My friend’s veggie lasagna was pretty tasty, though. Ups and downs, hence 2.5 stars(I’m rounding up to be kind).

we had the misfortune of partaking in an overpriced nothing special brunch. what is it with inept coffee? if the food is nothing special and the coffee is nothing special and the service is unspectacular then i will not be back. hello– brunch= coffee important.

The food was a-ok… so so… They kept pouring the mimosas… those were ok too… my dish… I can’t even remember… I asked for bread and got a strange look… as if I had asked for something alien to this planet… they then brought some bread and I continued eating my meal. I remember it contained salmon… Anyhoo… I wouldn’t go back… there are plenty of other places you could go to.

Damn, a lot of negative reviews! I loved this place. My roommate and I were starving after a very, very, VERY long day and wandered in here around 10 pm because it looked cute and we saw something about a $ 15 bottle of wine… The décor really is lovely and our waiter came over and immediately brought us yummy bread with oil and some delicious complimentary bruschetta! We ordered the calamari with zucchini app(calamari was ok, the zucchini was better), the fettuccini with shrimp and the chicken parm. The entrees were all quite good, if nothing especially remarkable. The prices are extremely reasonable. The look of the place is deceivingly upscale, but a bottle of wine, an appetizer, two entrees large enough to have leftovers for the next day, and dessert came to $ 60 for two people. Not too shabby. What’s really winning me over here is the service. Our waiter let us linger and enjoy our bottle long after the other patrons left and they were closing up for the night. He even comped us a second bottle! We will absolutely be back, thanks to our waiter. I say go, enjoy, and tip well!

I love italian food, so thats the first step, it is also walking distance from my house. The food is more than decent. My favorite items on the menu are the Pesto Pasta and the Chicken Parmagiana. YUMMMM. Service is flimsy and unreliable. Sometimes its okay, and others you feel like getting up and walking out. Varied wine selection. Delicious bread while waiting. The Mood: Very private, Lights go down early so it becomes romantic. Cute place find its roots in Italian art or art of things that come from Italy. My only problem is the wait. Especially when taking out. Service is especially slow and sometimes they forget stuff. Their delievery men don’t speak much english so that can be a problem sometimes. Enjoy! Bön Apetite! S

The food here is disgusting. My pasta tasted old and was in some sort of sauce which is similar to what you would find in a Chef Boy-ardee ravioli can. The service was nice… but I am paying to eat and the food should be decent. This stuff is absolutely horrific. Avoid at all costs.

I go frequently for brunch — its $ 9.99! This place can be hit or miss on the food. The Salmon plate is amazing, the eggs saporite(eggs benedict with portabello mushrooms) are great but the Poached Eggs over Smoked Salmon was way too salty. And their omlettes are really heavy on the cheese — I mean really heavy. The manager is a little strange — but the waiters have always been great. And they are VERY generous with the mimosas. They will keep pouring until you tell them to stop — even after they clear your plates. I have never felt rushed to leave and even after sitting there for two and a half or more hours I have never once had them bring me the check before we asked for it. It might not be a 5 star meal but if you are looking to have a nice leisurely boozy brunch this place can’t be beat. If aren’t into the unlimited drinks then there are a lot of other great places nearby that serve better food for about the same price and I would suggest going to one of those instead. I haven’t tired this place for lunch or dinner

Went there for brunch, lured by the promise of smoked salmon Benedict and unlimited mimosa/coffee/tea/bloody mary — all for $ 9.95. The only non-herbal tea available was Lipton(eeeew!), the orange juice for mimosas was nowhere near fresh squeezed, the omelet and the eggs Benedict were too salty, and the service was bad(the waiter got me not what I’ve ordered and while he took it back, he didn’t even apologize). Not coming back.
