Performed NYS inspection. Let me know my front brake pads were low which I already knew. Offered to replace. No muss no fuss. They took 25 minutes longer than I expected but they were courteous over the phone and in person which goes a long way.

I had my car inspected here today, and I will definitely be back! The service was fantastic. I had an appointment and George took care of me right away. This is definitely the place I will be getting future oil changes and all other car needs.

Nothing like having an automobile problem when your 250 miles from home. The big guy I forgot his name took me right in and fixed my car and barely charged me. I felt vulnerable walking in but man I’m happy there is an honest mechanic in Brooklyn.

I have brought my car into George and the gang at least 4 or 5 times in the past 5 years. I know nothing about repairing cars other than putting gas in the tank and air in the tires. So, I’m usually anxious I’m going to get taken for a few extra dollars. Every time I’ve done business with Universal, they deliver the news very straight and it’s always a very fair price. I used to run their diagnosis and price by my motorhead father and he was always amazed at how fair they are. They’re also extremely nice and make you feel like you’re part of the family. They’ll answer any question and are totally transparent. I can’t say enough good about Universal. If I ever move out of the neighborhood, I’ll absolutely make sure to keep doing business with them.
Obviously, if your car is broken in some way, it’s going to be a bit of a financial hit to get it repaired and no mechanic is a magician who can make a car run forever. But George and the gang definitely do their best at an excellent price and are very transparent about any work they’re doing. I truly don’t know what else someone would want in a garage.
BTW — They’re big fans of Dunkin Donuts coffee, so bring ‘em a cup if you’re there in the morning.

The worst mechanics ever, don’t bother with these people, they destroyed my truck. I went to talk to them and they never took any responsibility. The don’t know jack sh*t.
If you would like to get robbed go to this mechanic shop.

I’ve been here twice, and each time they are so fast! I had an inspection and an oil change. I don’t know much about cars, but I’m glad they do.

These guys are the real deal… been going to them for years and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Ask for George (the owner), he’s the man… last night at about 7:30pm my wife and we’re driving and my car just stalled on us out of the blue and I couldn’t get it to start. I called my mechanic George and he was closing the shop, but said not to call the tow company and hold tight so he can have a look. He drove from his shop to where my car was and proceeded to work on the car for about 20 minutes and got it start; he told me to follow him back to the shop to drop it off so he could fully diagnose tomorrow. We dropped it off and then he gave my wife and I ride back home… he wouldn’t accept any money for the stalled car/​ride home and just advised me to hold tight until he identifies what’s causing the problem… the guy’s amazingly unselfish all at 8pm at night. and he probably saved me $ 300/​$ 400 by avoiding the whole tow truck company situation… can’t thank him enough.

Ive been coming here for about 6 years and so has my mother (i drove a honda she drove a e class benz) and since then we have referred everyone who asks, «do you know a good mechanic» to this shop. Without fail everyone who goes has nothing but great things to say. Jimmy the owner is great. A neighborhood guy that wont swindle you. I mean how many people can really say they trust their mechanic. Fair, reasonable, honest, knowledgeable, quality repairs are all characteristics of this shop. They work on everything from domestic to imports, luxury to economical vehicles Great shop run by a great guy with some really good mechanics. Even if i move out of the neighborhood this is where ill be bringing my cars for years to come.

Avoid these guys even if your car breakes down in front of their shop! They overchanged me by $ 800 and still didn’t fix the problem. They are a rip off and will make your life miserable! In my 12 years of owning a car, I’ve never had to deal with something like this.
