Vera Chernomordik, DMD

First off I want to be completely honest about how horrified I am about even going to the dentist. I had anxiety for 2 days before this appointment. When I got there I did wait about an hour. That was the only down fall. Once I got in the chair with the hygienist she could sense how nervous I was so she took it easy on me and told me to raise my hand if I wanted or needed her to stop. She was very gentile with me. I didn’t catch her name but she had short blonde hair. I would def recommend her for people who fear cleanings. After that I met with Dr. Vera and when I tell you I felt right at home that would be an understatement. She was very sweet and listened to my concerns and even went back and did a little extra cleaning that was sensitive for the hygienist. We worked out what I was initially there for and then future goals with my teeth plans. I can honestly say I’m looking forward to my next appointment. I found my long term dentist. Didn’t think I would ever find one I liked. I never been to a single dentist more then 3 times and disliked them from the very beginning. Again I hope everyone takes the time to read this. I researched for a year before I came across her and I’m happy I waited long enough to stop torturing myself.

Dr. Chernomordik is one of the best in Brooklyn. I debated whether I should do this review, because I don’t want the wait time for an appointment to increase (which isn’t bad at all anyway), but she’s too good. Very professional, finished in the top of her class at Boston University, and overall a very lovely person to work with. I’ll be back!

I called this office and scheduled an appointment. The receptionist Sofi, was very aggressive from the minute I called, and after asking her 2 simple questions, she replied very lousy: «why are you asking all this questions!!!»
Later, when I spoke to dentist Vera about the matter, dentist Vera replied: «well, perhaps things got lost in translation and you are asking all this questions.(two questions I asked.) Dentist Vera continued by saying, «my receptionist was too busy with 3 people at the window, and with all the phones ringing at the same time, she had no time to answer your questions.» dentist Vera Chernomordik, then hang up the phone on me.
The lack of customer service and manners in many health care offices, such as this one; are sadly the reasons why you should always ask questions before making an appointment.

Dr. Vera rocks. Like, seriously. If you don’t want to dread going to the dentist anymore, then bring yourself over here, along with those pearly whites. (And if they’re not pearly white, she’ll hook you up there too). Knowledgeable, honest, gentle, and helpful. What else can you ask for in a dentist?!

I’m rating solely based on scheduling — I scheduled two appointments and they were both cancelled without warning; once within a few hours and once after 10 days, after I’d rearranged my own schedule. Based soley on the flaky nature of scheduling at this practice, I wouldn’t schedule with this practice again.

UPDATE
After being contacted by the doctor, i’ve shifted my Unilocal rating upwards as she does appear to be passionate about her practice, her work — and her Unilocal rating. Dr Chernomordik insists that zocdoc appointments are reconfirmed by her office by phone, and my appointment was cancelled because they were unable to reach me. I do not believe this to be the case in my situation but I can acknowledge the possibility of some technical malfunction of voicemail, albeit a small possibility since it happened twice.
She sounds passionate about her work and her commitment to her patients and I would not doubt her ability or enthusiasm for her work. That said, if booking through ZOCDOC, I would contact the practice by phone to reconfirm the appointment.

Best dentist ever!
Admittedly, and rather embarrassingly, I avoided dentists after one rather traumatizing event 8 years ago which left me distrustful of dentists even to my own detriment. I was referred to her by one of my friends, and I cannot express enough how the whole experience has turned around my perspective and oral health.
During my first visit, and after I explained initial issues and concerns, along with a bit of an emergency issue that brought me to her, she carefully guided me through the process, explaining before and during her procedures why and what she was doing. She gauged my pain tolerance (I’m very intolerant to pain) and made sure that I was comfortable as she worked through what I needed done. In the following visit, she corrected the work that had been done on me 8 years prior that continued to be a nagging concern.
At this point I’ve gone to see her a few times, and am so happy to have a dentist that is not only knowledgeable and professional, but also very passionate about what she does, and that this reflects in how she works. I still have some work to be done, but I no longer fear going to the dentist, and am also really excited about the progress of my teeth.
I highly recommend her. She is an exceptional dentist and probably the only one I’ll ever go to!

Short form: This woman loves what she does and is passionate and sincere about helping her patients! She is incredibly patient, she takes time to explain everything that she’s doing and is very open to conversation and explaining all the details for people like me… who have a million questions. She lets you pick your favorite music and plays it for you! She is a perfectionist with amazing attention to detail, and her care for her patients really shines through her work. She saved me from having TWO root canals! The best part is! They are able to provide much lower pricing than manhattan dentists because they actually own their office and don’t have to rent it. If you’re in NYC area you HAVE to see her!
Long form:
I was referred to her after my crown fell out after less than 2 years and I needed a new dentist. I thought my previous crown and dental work was pretty bad, and she confirmed it. Not only that, but she encouraged me to ask for a refund from my old dentist, and even helped me do it by putting some expert details in writing! I was lucky to get a refund for my crown in full. and I kid you not, this refund more than covered my dental work with Vera which included: a gold and ceramic crown and a complicated job at that, 3 fillings, a checkup, and a cleaning!
But she went above and beyond and just took amazing care of me. Every visit she was an absolute pleasure to be around, and me being a 27 year old chick, I was really happy to be in the chair with someone closer to my age, it was so much easier to have a conversation. Unlike many of the other dentists I have been to, she was absolutely not jaded by her job, her enthusiasm was amazing. She was really gentle with me and checked in after appointments, and wanted to make sure everything was good.
My replacement crown feels infinitely better than my old one, and she literally saved me from having a root canal which I’m sure was nearly impossible. She said «your teeth are fighters, and I want to fight for them!» It was the first time I felt a medical professional was actually on my side and acting in my best interest. Actually, the temp crown she made from scratch for me was so perfect I didn’t want to switch it for the real thing. I just can’t say enough good things about her!!! A total blessing and hidden gem. I highly recommend her to everyone!

I am not a fan of doctor’s offices (major understatement), or surgical instruments, or. or. And when I do go I feel like I never ask the right (or all the) questions, and if I don’t, the doctors will never bother to tell me.
Today however was amazing: Dr. Vera was warm, and patient and honest, and funny, and she played Spotify MUSIC, and just so chill. She made me aware of everything she was going to do, did, or would do. There was an instant sense of trust. I was still nervous, but her hands were gentle, and she paid attention to every queue my body made, from sounds to gestures to EVERYTHING. My eyes were closed during the session but I just felt this warmth radiating from her… It was amazing
I’ll be honest, I’m still not a fan of the dentist office, but having her as my dentist has already alleviated SO MUCH of my stress. As crazy as this may sound, I’m actually looking forward to my next visit. I feel like I’m in good hands with her.
Five stars WELL deserved. She will make you feel safe.

Dr. Vera Chernomordik was a pleasure from the very first visit. At first I was a bit anxious changing from my usual dentist, but her knowledge instantly put me at ease. She explained EVERYTHING prior to working on my teeth in a way that I was able to understand, she is extremely intelligent, and was incredibly sensitive and delicate with my teeth. I came there after having a week of awful tooth and gum pain and she explained why it was occurring, fixed my teeth, told me what to do in the future for prevention, and my gums stopped hurting almost instantly! I highly recommend her all the time to my family and friends for any dental needs.

There are few times in your life where you actually like your dentist post a complicated tooth extraction. Vera was amazingly confident, patient and took time explaining what she was doing and why things weren’t going as smoothly. A touch here a touch there; very consoling.
In hindsight and in thinking about my prior dentists, no one compares. To prove it, I traveled all the way from TriBeCa to Ditmas Avenue just because I trust and know her to do good work. Hopefully, you feel the same way and would highly recommend.
