Triple nightmare, ordered burritos for my friend and I to watch the game, they only delivered one burrito. Called back to ask for them to send over my other burrito, they said he’ll be right over. We waited and waited and waited, and they never came back. Needless to say, it ruined game night. The next day I walked over to talk to them and to get a store credit /refund, whatever, they told me that the«delivery guy had already gone home» as an excuse, yet never called me to inform me of this after assuring me they were sending the burrito I had already paid for on seamless. Also, they would not pick up the phone when I let it ring 50 + times right around closing time(they were obviously still in the restaurant and chose to ignore the phone) They gave me a hard time when I asked for a store credit rather than a burrito on the spot and made the situation as painful as possible. Since then, I have not gone back, but held onto the hand written store credit. As terrible as this was, I was in the mood for a burrito, had a credit, I figured, let bygones be bygones, walked back into the restaurant, showed them my store credit, and they will not honor it. So now we are onto theft rather than just bad customer service. As we speak, they stole $ 10 from me and will not return it. The waiter /manager, whatever, called someone else, made me wait for 10 minutes, before telling me that they cannot honor the handwritten store credit. So, all in all, I was shorted a burrito, had game night with my friend ruined, and was embarrassed twice in their restaurant when I went in in good faith to try be their customer again. Comically horrible customer service, and… they stole ten bucks from me. Truly the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and that is saying a lot in NYC. I even told them«I want to be your customer again» and they basically accused me of forging a store credit for $ 10. Surreal and pitiful service.

Lemme tell you, I really dig this spot. The tacos are always on point. I love stopping by on Tuesdays() and ordering the San Jose platter. They’re hard-shell tacos filled with well-seasoned ground beef, pico de gallo and cheese. Hey, I like hard-shell tacos! Paired with a Mandarin Jarritos soda or a Pacifico(courtesy of their shiny new bar) and I am good to go! The staff’s always friendly, and I appreciate the Latin-inspired soundtrack they pump through the sound system. I’m glad this place is my hood. A lot more convenient than Castro’s, and — dare I say — even a bit better!

Terrible delivery experience. First, the guy didn’t have change for my $ 20, then he proceeded to get a shitty attitude because I didn’t elect to give him a 60 per cent tip and forgo the change. I tried to just hand the food back and cancel the order, but he put his foot in the door to block me. My neighbors even came out because of all of the ruckus(unfortunately none of them had change either) Finally, he calls the restaurant presumably to get another guy to come with change. All the time shittalking me as if the situation was my fault. SMH. Finally after waiting 20 minutes in the cold, a new delivery guy shows up with the change. He hands it to me. after more shittalking and laughing with the new delivery guy. Of course not so much as a thank you or apology for my inconvenience. I gave him the tip I originally planned(25%) because I didn’t want any more trouble from this angry dude but honestly, he didn’t deserve a dime. Completely disgusting. It’s a shame because their food is delicious

Franklin and Kale burritos were fine. Fish taco was just ok. Chips and guacamole were a great addition, reasonably priced food and quick delivery. Must do it again.

They have good food but it’s a terrible place to eat because the radio is blasting annoying commercials most of the time. Why not get a spotify or Pandora subscription so customers don’t have to hear loud radio commercials while they eat? I think you’d have more eat-in customers if you worked on the ambiance a bit.

Xochitl is a great neighborhood fixture for take-out. I wouldn’t recommend sitting down to eat here – the ambiance is nothing special. But, when it comes to inexpensive and tasty Mexican food, Xochitl does it right. With friendly employees and quick service, this place has become my go-to for weeknight Mexican.

I think this place is not really used to having eat-in customers, because service was kind of awkward. But the food — in particular, my chicken mole taco — was surprisingly really good. But be aware that, contrary to someone else’s review, the chips and salsa are not complimentary.

I ordered take out today. The service was fine; unfortunately I was disappointed with the food. I may give them another shot though.

Love this place but they are starting to slip. Especially for delivery they are not always on point(probably why their seamless reviews are not great). We ordered last night and seamless charged our bank account. We called the restaurant when it had been over an hour and they couldn’t find our order from seamless so said they would send something ASAP or call back. Did not receive our order nor did they call us back. Pretty disappointed and annoyed because I don’t want to write this bad review because I love this addition to the neighborhood but their customer service and food quality are starting to suffer:(

Ordered take out and it took over two hours. After the two hour wait, we received two meat burritos, what a great surprise for two vegetarians(btw we ordered on Grubhub so not sure how they could get a written order wrong). We called to ask for a refund for food we could not eat, we were told there was nothing they could do. When we asked why it took over two hours, I was given the response that it’s Friday.

My boyfriend and I frequent this place. We are right down the block so when we don’t feel like cooking or going out this is our go-to and they never disappoint. Fish burrito is my favorite. He always gets the Franklyn.

I’ve been to this neighborhood spot a few times — I enjoy the convenience and perpetual sports TV playing on both sides. However(and I’m trying to not be a CA burrito snob, but the impulse is hard to fight), the food is decent but nothing to write home about. Luke-warm food, way too much of the extras and not enough meat. Waitress confused our orders, so I bit into some barbacoa rather than carnitas, but hey, if that’s the worst that happens I’ll be a very happy human. Free chips and salsa is great, and they are BYOB too! Fix up the good quality and you’ll have me back!

The food overall was okay– I wasn’t very impressed with the overall quality or the flavors of the food. I had the chimichanga burrito which is described as «crispy»… In now way was it crispy. Just extra soggy. To put this over the top the service was terrible. It took 15+ minutes to get the check after asking for it and the waitress was very unprofessional. I probably will not come back.

I’ve ordered their fish tacos twice now and they definitely don’t disappoint — aesthetically they may not be the most beautiful tacos, but man does that fish(and the sauce on it) pack a punch. Also 3 giant and delicious churros for $ 4, mmmm.

WIsh I could have gone with 3.5, but i like it more than I don’t so we round up. I ordered the fries covered in nacho toppings… OMG. It was COVERED in cheese, sour cream, delicious guac and tasty fresh salsa… I would get it over nachos next time– but when you are in the mood for high quality, cheesy, saucy mexican, this is the place. I don’t really have any major complaints. There are probably too many beans in the burritos and the enchilada sauce is meh.

I’m sorry but these guys need to learn how to wrap a burrito properly. Both times I’ve ordered them they’ve immediately fallen apart once I get home and unwrapped the foil. The taste flavors are fine, maybe even above average, but they need to step up their wrap game…

We ordered online from seamless. The foods are HORRIBLE, too salty and the meat is hard as rock. The burritos are full with salty rice and meats. Please avoid this and seamless.

This place is great. As a Southern California native, I have high standards for Mexican food. I’m not a fool, I know I’ll never find a Tacos El Gordo-level spot in NYC(or anything close to it for that matter). But by NYC standards, this is a great little restaurant. The combination plates have been consistently tasty and well-priced. They include a great little selection of salsas, guacamole and sour cream or yogurt with most items. Everything tastes fresh and is neither overly greasy nor too dry. I will say some of their dishes seem overly Americanized– many of the tacos come in crispy shells, for example. But hey, I’m guessing they are trying to cater to the neighborhood and you can specify soft tortillas if you prefer. I’m glad to see they seem to get a fair amount of business so far, hope they stick around.

The Mrs ordered ‘franklyn’ chicken burrito and opted for ‘low fat yogurt’ instead of sour cream. The burrito came with VANILLA yogurt in it! The burrito was acceptable but had sweet vanilla yogurt in it like dannon or something. Contacted restaurant for a refund and they claimed to have used plain yogurt. Beg to differ. Won’t be ordering from here again. Fish tacos were ok — for some reason covered in cheese which is an unusual combination for fish.

«If the chips and salsa are an indicator of what’s to come, five stars.» I wrote the above after devouring the complimentary, house made chips and salsa one late, hungry night. My boyfriend and I decided to eat in while doing laundry close by. He ordered the 3 Mx tacos with al pastor combo(after eating our way through Mexico, we’re always excited to see al pastor on a menu). I ordered the shrimp tacos combo. My word! I knew at first bite that I had finally found my neighborhood taco spot(the two others in my area are not my preference). The shrimp was seasoned nicely and cooked perfectly. The combo platter was generous! A choice of beans, rice, fresh salsa, guacamole, and freshly fried tortilla chips. Everything I tasted was delicious. I didn’t even need any hot sauce, there was already a party in my mouth. Unfortunately I did not leave room for dessert, though I did eye the tres leche cake. But, with my local watering hole of choice next door(outdoor seating and bring your own food), it won’t be long before I return to Xochitl.
