Dr. Gosy is a man who is touched by human suffering and does all he can to control it. He makes his patients aware there is no cure for chronic pain and we understand. I have a chronic, degenerative back condition, failed surgical syndrome, and a list of other conditions that are very painful to me. On the pain scale of 1 – 10 my pain was a 10. It was worse than labor. He was able to bring it down to a 6 for a while. That is incredible. I can live with a 6. It’s certainly better than a 10. I was screaming and crying in my bed in pain before Dr. Gosy. I could not move. I could not do anything. I was contemplating suicide because the pain was horrific. The first thing he said was to stop crying because crying was only making things worse. He said we need to work together. I need to be 100% compliant with his régime. I need to communicate with him if I don’t like the way a medication makes me feel. He said pain management was not intended to turn people into zombies. Dr. Gosy made a dream come true. I was able to attend my son’s Bar Mitzvah on 5÷2÷2015. I was able to stand on the Bimah(altar) with him. I helped his father put his tallis(prayer shawl) on him. I touched the Torah. I even«danced» with my son. Dreams don’t get any better than this at this stage of our lives!

I make it a point to make sure I let people know when I encounter a doctor that is compassionate and thorough. I want people to hear about it. So with this doctors office they do have a huge patient base. As doctors go Dr Gosy and most of his Nurse Practitioners are great. Doctor Gosy has a way of putting you at ease while you are having a procedure done. Because let’s face it many of the procedures done to help extreme pain are painful and being distracted helps. My wife is a regular patient with Deb H there, who is so very compassionate and so helpful. I love the way she works with my wife. She is reminiscent of a concerned big sister because she does treat you like family. My wife has a number of different procedures that are done to help control her pain. In that vein this doctor has the widest variety of methods to help control pain issues I’ve seen at any pain doctor. You don’t have just take opiates and hope that works. Now there are some detractors of this office and doctor. But here is the low down on that. Pain doctors are all under heavy scrutiny. This doctor is proactive about that opiate abuse issue. Random pill counts and drug tests to verify you are actually taking the medicine are common.

I have been going to Gosy’s and Associates since about 2009. I suffer from a plethora of chronic pain issues that are tough to manage in succession. I have been seeing two people there, Dr. Eugene Gosy and Debra Hadden A.N.P.-C. since I started going. Both are great and I feel both of them handle situations very well. Dr. Gosy has always been sympathetic to my case and over the years I have grown to appreciate his humor as he does his proceedures on me, because some of them are not very pleasant. Even when doing a facet block or epidural he tries to put me at ease, crack some jokes and always makes conversation. He has seen me through some tough times and is always trying to help give me the best care possible. His practice is huge, so it can be a tough order to expect this from a head of a practice, but if you are honest and work with him he will do whatever it takes to get you the best care. Debbie Hadden is like family to me and is the one I work closest with. She is attentive, smart, funny, a great listener and willing to do what it takes(within reason of course) to give you the best quality of life in the most difficult of times and situations. Her compassion and care for her patients is unlike any other I have seen. I once was suffering from a massive migraine(all of which stem from nerve and spinal damage to my neck) and was scheduled to see another associate from the practice. The pain was so intense it made it slightly hard to communicate or focus. The associate I had agreed to squeeze me in between patients. She got very short with me and I started feeling really emotional. This associate got me to the back rooms to administer pain relief, anti nausea and muscle relaxers to attempt to manage the pain but her continued nastiness made both my emotional and physical state worse. When Debbie heard this was happening, she briefly left her patient to quickly check in to see how I was. She came in and, at that point, I burst into tears as she asked me what was wrong. She held my hand, stroked my hair and said not to worry; she had all of it covered and I would not leave until the pain was under control. She stayed with me until the nurse came in with the meds(about a minute or two) and went back to her patient. I will never forget her kindness or all the other times she went the extra mile to help me function even at the most basic levels. Now so people know, Dr. Gosy is a neurologist, but specializes in pain. He takes his practice seriously. This being said, random drug test and pill counts do occur to avoid people abusing or selling the medication he give to his patients. If you don’t abuse the system you have nothing to worry about. When it comes to his office staff things can get tricky and you must stay on top of your situation to avoid confusion with the them. Also, realize they get yelled at all day by people in agony, that forget that they are human. I am not saying all mistakes on their part are not to be held accounted for, but also realize a little kindness and patience will get you further with them. I have run into mistakes with them from time to time, but if they are not handled in a timely manner I discuss it with the doctor or nursing staff and it is typically dealt with in an efficient manner. Another thing is the nursing staff in the back offices are wonderful people. They are always there to answer a question and to schedule your proceedures. I have rarely had any problems with the back nurses’ station and they are on the ball with billing issues and proceedure information. They are thorough and take their jobs very seriously. I am very thankful Gosy and Associates are there to help me maintain my complicated pain situation and give me more opportunities to have better days. I don’t typically like discussing my pain with people, however, if you want a place to go that takes pain management seriously, this is certainly the place to go.

I have been seeing Dr. Gosy for some 15 years for pain management for fibromyalgia and other conditions. Currently, I am under the care of a N.P. All his N.P.‘s and P.A.‘s I have found, are caring, knowledgeable, and they get to know you as a person, not just a patient. I am a disabled R.N. so I know good when I see it. In speaking to other patients I find people coming to see him from Erie, PA, Rochester, Dunkirk… All quite a drive to see him. I never have to wait more than 15 minutes in the waiting room and once in the exam room, there’s no or very little waiting. The only thing I wish is that the check out process was more stream lined and faster.
