Ike & Bg’s Barbeque Rest

So I happened to be traveling down the road with my Queen and ended up smelling a great emanation coming from a smoking BBQ pit. I said well damn, we need to turn around and hit this spot. We turned around and got up in the place. You can tell it was strictly BBQ based as the whole kitchen was separated by a high counter between the guests and the kitchen. The menu’s were on the wall to see which order you wanted to have.
Now it get’s good and funny! So I’m telling the owner that I want a hot bbq sauce rib plate. He says it may be too hot for you young man, however I will let you taste it first before you decide on that flavor. I said cool, lets do it. He bought me half a spoon of this sauce and I tasted it. Mind you, I’ve already told this man I was from Louisiana and it wouldn’t phase me. Why did I say that??? So I tasted the sauce, within 6 seconds my eyes started watering, I started choking and sweating and my woman is laughing her ass off at me. I asked quickly for a piece of bread because it was tearing me up bad!!! I wanted some water but he was having fun with me because I was talking cash shit about being able to take it and he was taking his sweet time too!
To make a long story short, he baptized my ass that day on spicy sauces. The only reason I’m giving this establishment 4 stars is the fact that the hot sauce that he had and grows himself didn’t have a bbq sauce base to it whatsoever. It didn’t have anything to do with that. This little sauce he made is 5 times hotter than habanero peppers!!! So when I went back today I told him I’m back! I’m not scared of you! He said which sauce do you want, the hot or mild? I said mild and kept it rolling.
Bottom line, the BBQ was pretty damn good. He has pineapples cut up in the baked beans which I’ve never had before, but was pretty good. The baked mac and cheese was there, no question at all. Now, he likes having his ribs already sauced up before he serves them to go. However, I can’t take points off on him for that because I’ve never asked for the sauce on the side. I have to be fair about it. I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK AGAIN!!! :-)
