So I came here because I needed new contact lens… The exam is not expensive. I’ve been reading reviews about how they examine you in front of people and it’s weird and awkward… They are over exaggerating… The initial puff in your eye and retinal scans are in the same room that you wait but it is in the back. No one is there except you and the person taking care of you. This is all pre examination anyways. The actual exam is private in a room with you and your doctor. My doctor was extremely nice and went over the exam and results thoroughly with me. I didn’t even have to wait and I was a walk in. 5 stars from this girl!

This review is for Doctor Val.
My shortened down story:
Was cutting glass tile on a tile saw, without my protective eye wear (stupid I know). A ¼ rice grain size of glass shot straight into my right eye. I could tell it was in my eye because the glass tile was aqua blue. Tried to flush it out myself but couldn’t do so. Was not bothering me so I went to bed with it in my eye (it was to late to see a optometrist & didn’t want to go to the ER. The next morning I couldn’t see the piece of glass in my eye anymore but figured I should still see a optometrist.
Was able to get an appointment within an hour of calling. Came early & Doc Val saw me right away. She was super professional, nice & Gentle. She explained to me everything she was doing before she did anything to my eye.
In the end doc Val couldn’t find anything in my eye & explained there was no damage.
Will definitely be back.

The fastest doctors appointment o have ever gone to. In and out in less than 30 mins. I called in the morning and was able to get a same day appt. The receptionist and office personnel were friendly. Dr. Patel was very professional and sweet. I will continue to come here.

I’ve been going to this office probably 10+ years. I have Dr Nishimura and I have seen Dr. Khoury and other doctors in the office over the past several years. Dr. Nishimura is my favorite! He always remembers me amidst a plethora of patients. I feel my visit is personalized and informative and all of the doctors really care about you. I have recommended my sister and my bf for exams here. They are 10 stars in my book!

Short story: worst «doctor» I have ever visited. Cost us $ 300 in purchasing glasses without giving the correct prescription for the glasses, then refused to correct his mistake. Horrible person to do that to a 64-​year-​old woman. Oh, and if you care about privacy, forget about it here. Not only are the general tests for pressure and field-​vision done in the waiting room, but no-​body batted an eye when the doctor took my mother and I both into his office for the eye examination. I’m 34 — don’t need mum to accompany me to any medical appointments, thankyouverymuch.
Long story: After reading such glowing reviews and receiving another one from my good friend, I decided to have my annual eye-​exam in his office and convinced my mother to do the same. We made appointments for 12.15 and 12.30 p.m. on a Saturday, had to wait until 12.40 before being seen by the doctor (not a big deal), but then were taken into the examination room together. I am not a young person and appreciate my privacy, but because I had heard the front-​desk staff mention lunch-​hour was coming up, decided it wasn’t a big deal if it saved some time. After-​all, every other examination is done in front of the entire office (if you appreciate your privacy, don’t go here as nothing is private. All general tests are done in the waiting room), so why worry about my mother being present during the actual examination? The doctor did a basic eye test, but rushed through every-​thing, and I was done within five minutes. I mentioned blurriness in one eye and was essentially dismissed, so decided to not take it any further because it was obvious he was rushing. My mother was next, and her examination was a bit more extensive.
The problem really begins here: my mother told the doctor she needs glasses that will help her see her computer as she works 10-​hours on it at her office. She sits approximately five feet from the computer (or, «an arm-​and-​a-​half,» as she told the doctor during our visit. As she tells every doctor who asks her). The doctor prescribed her higher-​prescription READING glasses only though, completely dismissing the computer need.
She went to work excitedly on Monday with the assumption that she would finally be able to see her computer screen more comfortably (she is 64 — her old prescription was +1.75 for both eyes; the doctor said she needed +2.75 instead. That’s a big difference) after struggling for the past year, and came home completely disappointed that she still couldn’t see the screen. She complains of head-​aches every single day because of this need, so she made a second appointment with the doctor, who then took less than two minutes to tell her she was lying about telling him she needed glasses for the computer (HELLO…I was in the room WITH her when she told you she needs glasses for her computer. Maybe if you had actually LISTENED to her, as the patient, you would have heard her, as well !), and that he would only prescribe the OLD PRESCRIPTION for her new glasses. So, this jack-​a** basically cost my mother close to $ 300 for a pair of glasses she won’t even be able to use. Who the hell is so powerless in life that they need to assert control by taking away vision from others ?! Sure doesn’t sound like an optometrist to me. What is she supposed to do with her old prescription when this joke is the one who made the mistake in the first place ?!
Thanks a lot for gauging your patients out of their money and time. What a wonderful doctor you are. Too bad my mother is too polite, shy and kind to stand up for her-​self, but I’m not. Had I been there, you would have never gotten away with this type of behaviour. To BULLY patients into using wrong prescriptions is beyond small and childish, and is something that I will be sure to report.
I’m so sorry for having wasted not only my yearly exam at this place, but for talking my mother into doing the same. Wish I had known better so my poor mum would be able to get some relief from her headaches and actually be able to see the computer that she spends her entire day working on. Oh, and doctor, she actually works instead of half-a**ing her job like you do.

Best Eye Exam Ever!!!
Had a contact lens exam appointment for 5:45pm and left the doctors office at 5:57pm (mind you it’s inside Costco with lots of walk-​ins). 12 Minutes, very fast without being rushed. Dr. Paul Mikailian was very friendly and did a great job with the eye exam. The staff was friendly as well.
Great service, professional, and clean. You don’t have to be a Costco member to make an appointment. What more can you ask for. Thank you and would highly recommend this Optometry to anyone.

One of the nicest and friendliest optometrists you will meet. He is very efficient but takes time to get to know you and make sure you are doing okay. Because money was tight for me and a new procedure came out (it was only 15 extra or something), he offered it to me at no charge and I never forgot that kindness. I continue to see him now for years since he is within my insurance plan and the wait times are not long. I think my whole family sees him now for the most part!

I had pain in my right eye this morning and I called Dr. Khoury’s office to see if he could see me today. While he was fully booked, once Leema (I apologize if I am misspelling her name) — told me to come right in. When I arrived– she had me see Dr. Khoury immediately. After he throughly looked at my eye– and flushed it– my eye was basically back to normal! No more pain. Dr. Khoury requested I check back with him 15 minutes later to make sure I was still feeling OK. He took his time and care with me. Thank you De Khoury and Leema for being so thoughtful and attentive!

Dr. Khoury is fast and efficient. The customer service is superb. If I have a special request, they will meet it even though this business operates in a large warehouse. Dr. Khoury has all the tools and technology to thoroughly examine your eyes. He has sample contacts available even in my extreme prescription.

My appointment was with Dr. Val whom I absolutely loved. She was smart, cool, had great energy, wasn’t rushed, and had lots of good information. Add on top that the appointment was very, very reasonably priced, and I’m a happy camper… a happy camper who can see!

I saw Dr. Nishimura and he was SO GREAT! He took plenty of time to answer my questions (and I always have a lot of those) and he was very informative. I got the retinal x-​ray and he was very detailed in explaining what we were looking at. I have actually already told 3 people to get their eye exams here. who’d a thought?! AWESOME :) 5 stars!

My mom-​in-​law told me to see Dr. Khoury years ago and I always saw the other doctors. Well, today I got to see him and wow, what a great guy. The others were great but there’s something special about Dr. K. I was very comfortable from the start with him and he took his time to make sure I was very taken care of.
We even spoke about LAZIK and he said if I chose that route, thy he’d give me his personal recommendations for my VERY particular optical needs and possible outcomes.
I felt very taken care of and safe here.

I recently saw Dr. Nishimura for my contact lens exam and I just wanted to take the time to recommend this place! First of all, the appointment was super easy to make considering that they are open all seven days of the week (they accept walk-​ins as well). I did not have to wait at all when I showed up to my appointment even on a Sunday afternoon.
The staff and Dr. Nishimura were very friendly and made me feel comfortable. The visit took about 45 minutes from start to finish. The cost for a contact exam is $ 89 and you also get a free contact lens pair with a sample of solution.
NOTE: You do not need a Costco membership to get an eye exam BUT you do need a membership if you want to purchase the annual supply of contact lenses at the counter right outside of the office.
Overall, good customer service and good pricing. I would definitely recommend this place!

I am editing my review because Dr. Khoury did a good job at my appointment. He tried to reach me after I posted my original review. He left a voicemail saying, «no one gets overcharged at my office. I would like to discuss it with you.» On reflecting back, it may not have occurred to his office staff to tell me up front there would be a $ 50 copy. Maybe they thought I knew? When they verify benefits, that’s not the same as «you have no copay.» I was just really irritated that they didn’t explicitly state what my cost would be up front. I could have gone to my usual optometrist and paid $ 0. I went to Costco to save money. Why didn’t I make the call and verify my benefits myself, you ask? Because I’m out-​of-​control busy and this is what I rely on professionals to do when I show up at their place of business.
To be clear — I was not overcharged. I was annoyed by the poor communication and the general semi-​rudeness of some office staff. But other office staff were great. My original review is below:
Dr. Khoury is pretty good. However, the front office staff verified my benefits, making me believe I had coverage here. It was only as I was LEAVING that they told me I had a $ 50 copay because they are out of network. I won’t go back. Also the process itself was much like being herded like cattle. Assembly line optometry.

Awesome and timely service. Dr Toronto was professional, laid back, and extremely personable. Would recommend.

Not a big Unilocaler but I wanted to say that I have been a loyal customer of Michael’s for years and I should let others know it. He has me driving from 45 minutes away just to have my eye’s checked by him and his team regularly. They are an extremely kind, fun and efficient staff, I rarely wait more than 5 minutes when I have an appointment.
Last time I was there I met Jeff who must have been filling in for Michael. He was equally as helpful and easy going as Michael. We got along right from the start.
Kudos to these guys for running the best optometry business in town, and out of Costco too. It doesn’t get better than this.

I went to get my eyes checked at the Costco (Idiocracy, anyone?) after a friend recommended it and was very pleasantly surprised.
The office is small so there’s not a lot of waiting room but I didn’t have to wait long as I had made an appointment ahead of time. I met with Dr. Val and she was awesome! I have trouble with contacts because my eyes get so dry but she has been so patient with me trying to find the right ones for me. I have been back twice, at no additional charge, for follow ups and consultations. She’s the best!
I can’t say enough about how awesome she is. You don’t have to have a Costco membership to see the optometrists and the cost was beyond reasonable.
Go, and if you can ask for Dr. Val.

I went here a little while ago, even though I’m not a Costco member, because their contact lens exam costs $ 10 less than their neighbor, Target. It’s $ 89 bucks at Costco. Anywho, I was a walk-​in on a weekday around 4:30. The receptionist with the glasses, while extremely nice, failed to mention to me that I’d have to wait almost an hour and 15 minutes to see the doctor. Good thing I wasn’t in a real hurry, although my friend & dog were waiting outside for me in the car in 90 degree heat. So I guess I was in a hurry. Anyway. Other reviewers are extremely correct in saying if you’re claustrophobic, stay away from this little shoebox. There are 2 exam rooms where the doctors see you that are soo tiny, there was barely room for me and the doctor. It was actually kind of awkward. The reception place too. Being either smooshed by people or having to wait outside trying on random glasses for 45 minutes are your only options, and not my idea of even a semi-​good time. If you’d like to take your tests with a certain degree of privacy, as is generally pretty standard, forget about it here. They’ll be blowing air into your eyes in front of 20 people, and it ain’t pretty.
You know, it’s kind of weird. The doctor (name started with a G, don’t remember her name exactly) was soo nice when I saw her outside the exam room, and introductions were so pleasant that I thought she’d have an AMAZING «bedside manner.» The opposite was true. She had probably the worst «bedside manner» of any optometrist I’ve ever seen, despite her being nice. I know that some of the reviews here have said the same thing about these doctors, and I can only assume it’s because they have so many patients. STILL, though, you cannot hurry through an exam THAT MUCH. I’m literally not exaggerating when I give you this example:
The doctor asked me a question, and while I was answering it, she changed the subject, moving on to something else. I tried to continue telling her what I had been, but it was sort of awkward by then. She wasn’t very friendly during the exam, and just rushed through it. Is that really what you signed up to do as a doctor? Have people feel like they can’t have a dialogue with you and form even somewhat of a relationship? I don’t care if it’s Costco, I’m not a second rate patient and I don’t deserve a second rate doctor. I’m sure all these doctors are extremely competent and intelligent, they just were not very thorough with me personally. Who knows, maybe they will be with you, though I doubt it. I have been to the Target optometrist before (specifically Dr. Hsu), and it is SOO much better in every way except the price. Next time I WILL be going there. I noticed that even someone who had an appointment ended up waiting forever. I literally was so disappointed by the way the doctor shoved me out the door. Which is WEIRD because she took forever with some patients. Maybe I just had really horrible hot dog breath.

I came to Dr. Khoury because the Costco in Marina del Rey was booked and I really wanted an eye exam today, I called Burbank and they made an appointment, I was 10 minutes late and took me right away, filled out my paper work, the nurse examined my eyes and was super sweet. Right away Dr. Khoury took me in to the exam room. He was great, very thorough, professional, and he has a great personality. He had me try a sample, I put them in and they didn’t feel right, so he examined my eyes with the contacts, found the problem and gave me contacts that are perfect. I loved the fact that he went back to check. I’ve had a lot of eye problems in the past, and no doctor took the time to figure out what the issue was.

I’ve been a patient here for 3 years now (almost 4), and I’ve seen Dr. Nishimura and Dr. Rafalski. I can’t say enough good things about both optometrists. I’ve had serious eye problems since birth and these guys both figured out my complicated eyes with ease and professionalism. I’m able to wear comfortable contacts thanks to them.
Front desk girls are a little iffy. Some are nicer than others. I don’t really care about this at all, though, because the OD’s are the ones handling the real issues. Always been very accommodating with appointment times, and in one strange emergency, a walk-​in visit.
I started seeing then due to the convenience of Costco and the incredible low price of a contact lens exam for astigmatism. I now have insurance and unfortunately they are not a covered practice. I have a major sad about this, but I have to go where I can afford it, ya know? If I’m ever forced back into cash-​pay land, there’s no doubt who I’ll return to!
