I have had both Dessarae and Rachel cut and dye (ombré) my hair. Both did a phenomenal job. I showed them a picture of the coloring I wanted and they both hit the nail on the head. They really listened when I asked for adjustments to my haircut and also made it super easy to maintain my style at home (I’m really lazy when it comes to styling my hair myself).

Val is amazing. She is always in a friendly good mood, while being very professional at the same time. She keeps her station clean and comfortable. She does my hair and my daughters hair. I have recommend several people to her, that now are hooked and are recommending Val to their friends. Don’t miss out on the chance to get a great haircut or style from Val. The Parlor itself is really cute and clean. There is free parking which is great. I would recommend Val anytime!

Yes yes yes! Come here! I’m pretty new to the Burbank area and wanted to find a salon that would be reliable and have stylists that were somewhat young so they would understand the style I was going for with my hair. The Parlor was incredible! I walked out with exactly what I wanted and paid a price that I’d say is typical for the service I had done. My only complaint would be parking, as I parked on the street with a 2 hour parking limit and received a ticket for being there fifteen minutes over the limit. That was completely my fault, but just giving a heads up to those new to the area!

I have been twice now, the first time was awesome! And today I went back after a failed highlight job. I tried to go somewhere in a different state to save money, dumb mistake! I had horrible platinum, chunky highlights then I went back to the same lady to see if she could correct her mistake and that left me with tones down darker streaks. Not flattering, and it just looked sad and flat. I went to Val today to see if she could brighten it up to make it not so gross (I have my sister’s wedding in a week) and she killed it, in a good way! A few simple highlights and my hair looks brighter and definitely not streaky or chunky. I learned my lesson, definitely worth every penny to go to someone you know will do a good job. Only going to Parlor from now on!

This place is amazing! They are a group of girls that really have a passion for what they do! I highly recommend for anyone looking for a good place to get a cut, color, style, of any hair type. I have very curly hair and it is incredibly frizzy. Rachel was able to work with it, cut it just the way I like, and recommended some anti-​frizz products that work great! Thank you Rachel! Love the drinks and comfy lounge area, if you have to wait! Awesome shop!

Dessarae does an amazing job. She’s friendly and great a figuring out what you want. She always goes above and beyond to make sure you have a good experience and to answer any questions. The salon itself is very cute, in a nice area and there’s a drink cart! It’s a little expensive so I can’t go as often as I’d like but it’s definitely worth it.

I hadn’t cut my hair in a long time so when I was in need of help and change I looked to someone or something I can trust — Unilocal!Parlor came up with the most reviews and an average high in their ratings. As I read the reviews, the name Dessarae came up as an awesome stylist and one who understands when you describe something to. So, I made an appointment with her and waited. I got there and described how I wanted my hair with a few pictures. She washed my hair and I got a short but nice neck massage — I wish it was longer :) When we finished with my hair — I was so happy! It was so light, bouncy and just fun! Can’t wait till my next visit. And not to mention, they have drinks and not just soda and water … hehe! Thank you!!!

Can’t recommend this place enough. Just got my second cut from Dessarae and both times have been exactly what I wanted.
My first trip was to fix a literal disaster. After asking for a trim at a place in Glendale I was missing a 5 inch chunk from the side of my head. It was so, so bad. Dessarae not only fixed it she made it look awesome. Second cut today, looks even better. I only wish I would have found them sooner. My hair is super thick, wavy and I always ask for stylists to give me a cut that I can style curly, straight and somewhere in between when I’m lazy.
Their salon is cute and easy to find. Oh and there is tons and tons of street parking. In LA it is so nice to go to a hair appointment not cursing and stressing from spending 20 minutes finding and fitting into a street spot. Also offers online booking which is a really nice perk.

Dessarae hooked me UP! I needed a haircut and stylist who is trustworthy — that’s exactly what I got. She has a longterm client in me that’s for sure. She really took her time with my hair in its texture and the way that it falls in my face. She didn’t push any products on me at all even though I’m a SUPER lazy hair wearer hahaha she totally customized my cut to fit my lifestyle and I totally love it. I’m sure the other girls are great too! Def a cute location that delivers the goods!

20+ years ago I stopped having my hair cut by salons after many bad experiences by multiple salons. I said fuck it and my perfectionist ways + desperate times made me figure out how to cut my own hair. I refused to keep paying for shitty service, lack of listening skills, with an outcome that continually made my 20 something self look like a 60 year old mom jean wearin monkey.
I had gotten to a point where my hair had gotten fairly long (middle of my back) and I decided I wanted to cut it into a precision cut angled bob. I’ve cut my hair many times from long to short before but this I could not do myself — even as a perfectionist. I searched endlessly for a salon with glowing reviews because I was nervous. Parlor came up and I randomly picked Dessarae who is a sweetheart!
She cut it shorter than I originally wanted, but the cut was great! Most importantly she cut my hair with how it lays which is HUGE and not all stylists do that. She also cut my straight bangs perfectly which is difficult because I have fine hair (a ton of it) and cowlicks so it takes skill to cut well.
I will definitely go back to Dessarae for my next trim!
TIP: Bring in a photo to your cut exactly how you want it.

I had my very first coloring experience by Dessarae and it was lovely! First of all, the space is impeccably adorable and inviting. Vintage furniture and thoughtful details galore and an array of snacks and drinks too!
Dessarae took time to consult me on the color, walk me through the process, and present me with all of my options. Once colored, she even offered to do touch-​ups after if I wasn’t totally happy with the look. I most appreciated her asking me about how I wear my hair daily, and if there were any small details about the cut that weren’t quite what I wanted. For example, I told her I often want to pull my hair up in a half-​ponytail, and she was able to figure out that it was because a few of my layers were hitting my neck in the wrong spot, making wearing it down a bit uncomfortable. It was clear she wanted me to have a look and style that was manageable and fit with my daily life!
Will definitely be back :)

I agree with Samantha (which is how I found this salon in the first place, after reading her review), Rachel is fantastic at dying red hair!!! And will probably have tons of redheads visiting her now.
I am a little biased probably because I went to school with her, so knowing someone I can trust certaintly helps. This not only made for a great reunion, but I also have now found my new local salon!
I came in needing a root touch up instead of an overall color, Rachel color matched perfectly! The vibe of the salon is calm, unlike many hectic salons that stress you out. Just a few people in the room, and drinks are provided.
For me, and for you it will be like visiting an old friend. Go visit Rachel!

I’ve just moved to Burbank from all the way on the East Coast. I hadn’t had my hair cut and colored since before Thanksgiving, so it was time. I was pleasantly surprised that I found a salon only about 4 blocks from my apartment, and even more surprised that the reviews on Unilocal were great.
I booked my appointment with Rachel who was a really fun stylist and made me feel absolutely like I was her biggest concern for the day. I have very fine hair and also dye it red. As anyone who has red hair knows, getting a red to look the way you want it to is VERY difficult. I’ve always asked for the same thing, but somehow have gotten between pink and dark purple and sometimes it doesn’t look red at all, just plain brown. I say that because Rachel gave me THE BEST RED I’VE EVER HAD. The cut as well, something always so complicated for me with my super fine hair, was great. I’ve been walking down the street like Jan Brady ever since, swingin mah locks.
I will DEFINITELY be coming back to Parlor.

Rachel. Rachel. Rachel. That’s the best advice I can give you and your hair. Rachel is the BEST — she has done my ombré for a year now and it looks amazing each and every time. Her cuts are quick and perfect and she doesn’t tell you you have to chop off a million inches of hair when you just want half an inch. She is so adorable and friendly — it’s kind of like visiting an old friend whenever I see her… An old friend who is amazing at cuts & color. The salon itself is so cozy and relaxing. There are drinks, snacks and great magazines. What more could you want?

A friend recommended Parlor after an unfortunate horrible cut.
But Valerie totally rescued my hair! My only expectation was to help my hair look decent but she exceeded that by millions. My new cut is so epic that I just wash my hair and let air dry –which is heaven to a lazy gal like me. She left me looking and feeling AMAZING!
I wish I would’ve known about them before the awful tragedy (haha) but now that I’ve found them I’m always coming back.

I should start off by mentioning that I have a very full head of unruly, curly hair on the shorter side. The hair-​stress trinity. Haircuts are always an ordeal for me. I’ve bopped around town from stylist to stylist, but I am SO happy after having visited Dessarae!
I showed her a few pictures of styles that I liked, but I didn’t have a clear vision of what I wanted (she was incredibly patient with me!), so I finally just told her to do whatever she thought would work best on me and she worked her magic! She was able to camouflage the roundness of my face with some gorgeous layers, and let’s be real, she corrected a bit of a hack job that I received at a previous salon…
I felt like she was meticulous with both the cutting and styling. She also gave me great tips for blow drying/​styling that I’ve been using since.
The salon itself is really lovely, with thoughtful décor and complimentary beverages. I can’t recommend The Parlor and Dessarae enough. I will definitely be back soon!

DESSARAE is the best! Without a single doubt.
My hair has never been touched by such an amazing stylist until I met Dessarae! She is amazing, sweet, and a total professional at what she does. I’ve never trusted anyone as much as I do her, she’s got great style and is extremely meticulous with her work. So far Des has CUT, DYED, STYLED, and PERMED my hair, and i’ve absolutely loved all the results every-​single-​time!

What can I say? I love Val. When she started up this salon, I followed her, and now even though I have moved, I still feel that it’s very worth it to drive to Burbank from West LA.
My cut and color have always been exactly what I’ve asked for, and I’ve always managed to get an appointment when I need it. The salon is relaxing, and there are always drinks (e.g., coffee, tea, water, soda, wine, and beer) as well as small treats like chocolate while you wait. I believe there is only street parking, but that is no problem as I’ve always been able to park right in front of the salon (no meters, either).
My only complaint? It’s not closer to my home :)

This is a stylish, cute salon on Magnolia Blvd. that I’ve been going to for the past year or so– Dessarae has never disappointed with my haircuts and is always very friendly and pays attention to what look you’re after. I love the hip décor in the salon (beautifully restored vintage cabinets, large mirrors, pretty wallpaper, couches with colorful throw pillows, a fun bar cart…) and the complimentary drinks and treats upon entering. It really is like an inviting parlor.
The salon is a bit off the main drag of Magnolia, near Victory Blvd., which is great for ample street parking and a peaceful feel. I usually go in with a few pictures of cuts I like and Dessarae is able to replicate these. She pays attention to detail and is able to swiftly execute the look I’m going for in about an hour (there’s nothing worse than being in a salon for hours because of an inexperienced stylist!). A women’s haircut costs $ 75, which seems to be the going rate for a quality cut by an expert and is well worth it. You can easily pick from open dates with your desired stylist on their website and book an appointment right then (they will then confirm it via email/​text).
If you’ve ever had a bad experience with another stylist and want to somewhere where you can be reassured they know what they’re doing and will give you an awesome hair experience, this is the place!

Both my sisters got their hair cut here and loved it and so decided to give it a shot. I called and asked if they had an available time and told me to come in as soon as I can. It was a tuesday, so they weren’t busy. I was able to get my cut done around 2pm. with no appointment needed.
The girl who cut my hair was Val (I think?). She asked how I wanted my hair to look and how short. I told her I wanted long layers with a v-​cut and for my shortest layer to be a couple inches below my shoulders. She first gave me a hair rinse which included an amazing scalp massage… I loved the type of shampoo and conditioner they used as well. Smelt very lovely. I then proceeded to her station and she then, began her cut.
I must admit, I was a bit shock on how short she cut it. It wasn’t long layers at all. She just basically cut off 6 inches of my hair. My hair beforehand was super long… probably reached my lower back. And so it was a bit of an adjustment Cuz I still wanted my hair not too short. I just kind of shrugged it off and told myself it’ll grow out quick.
My sister had decided to try something new with my new hair and wanted to curl it. I actually liked how it looked curled with my cut. It gave a beachy look to it. Although the cut wasn’t what I intended, I wound up loving it. I would def. come back to see Val to do my hair.
Place is small but has a very vintage look to it. Very comfortable and smells pretty nice. They serve beverages and other things. Street parking is also available.
