History

Established in 2009.

The studio was established by Producer/​Engineer Josh Whiting.

Josh was inspired to build his own studio while visiting Producer Ross Robinson’s home.

Watching Ross record and produce Metalcore band «Norma Jean» at his home in Venice beach was such an inspiration that

Josh decided to build a studio at his home in Van Nuys.

Owner /​Engineer /​Producer

Born in Albany New York and raised in San Diego Califorina Josh has been involved with music for over 20 years.

He has sang, played guitar for several bands. Josh began producing and recording bands after graduating from Musicians Institute in the Audio Engineering Program. He took additional courses in Live Sound and Recording at Grossmont and Cuyamaca College. Josh also gained experience working at Golden Tracks Studios and managed Master Minds Studios.

He has worked with many different types of artists and music genres including Rock, Metal, Acoustic, Rap, Hip Hop. Josh has tracked/​mixed VO, ADR and commercials. He also excels with foley and sound design.

Best recording studio! Biajani and Josh are true professionals. If you want your voice well mixed, Josh is your go to guy. The recording and mixing was great and if we had any concerns they were happy to work with us. I’d recommend Stage Red for any recording, mixing and mastering needs.

What amazing experiences I’ve had here! I have used these guys for VoiceOver projects, commercial spots, and recording songs.
Josh the engineer/​owner is very good at dialing in the tones I wanted from my guitar setup. It’s been a problem at other studios and can really stifle your creativity. They can get really your tone to translate how you want it on tape!
The rates are fair and they even cut me a break when I booked a larger time block.
I’d recommend Stage Red Studio to anyone who needs sound recordings done masterfully. Give them a try on your next project… it’s a breath of fresh air.

Stage Red Studio is a great place to come and record. They really cater to everyone from the up and coming artist, to the established industry folks. From the moment you walk into the studio, you are greeted with a smile and a hug by the amazing staff. Stage Red’s vibe is very mellow and the engineer takes his time in working with his artists to make sure he finds «that sound». Even if you just need a place to hang out for some good conversation, Stage Red Studio is the place to be!

I don’t know which I could rate best, the amazing hospitality of the staff, the dynamic energy in the service or the recording guru genius quality of their recording and production services. Along with flexible hours and a very cool rockstar demeanor this has by far been my favorite recording experience and can’t wait to go back for another album. Josh Whiting is a highly impressive individual able to work with people in multiple setting and with different musical backgrounds. I don’t know what we would’ve done with him! Thanks Stage Red!
