Amita’s Threading Studio

Amita is friendly and genuinely cares about her customers and their brows! I personally love it when they take their time and plenty of care in threading eyebrows, and Amita is far more attentive than many other places I’ve been to before. Highly recommended! Entrance to her little studio is through UK hair on Burlingame ave. Her price is competitive and quite a good deal considering the top notch service. She works Tuesday-​Saturday! Book an appointment with her, you won’t regret it :)

Amita does a fantastic job threading eye brows! I appreciate the 20+ minutes she spends on my eye brows to make sure they are impeccable. She has a good eye for natural eye brow shapes. Definitely call Amita ahead of time to secure an appointment.

I purchased threading services through Groupon/​Living Social about a year ago and have continued seeing Amita since then. She does a great job spending at least 20 – 25 minutes working on me making sure my eyebrows are perfect. I also like that when she does my upper lip that sometimes she’ll include my lower lip and chin if needed. It’s always easy to get an appointment by text and she can usually schedule me in on my requested day and time. I highly recommend Amita!

Amita does a beautiful job on brows! She is quick and something about the way she threads is less painful than a lot of other places I have been too. Make sure to make an appointment.

Don’t why I didn’t think of writing this review before. Amita rocks! She is the first person who I let touch my eyebrows although I had been doing for facial hair for years. Every time she does a fantastic job with them. She is thorough and neat. Good with scheduling and responds on texts promptly.

This is a review coming from someone with pretty high pain tolerance. So, if you’re wimpy about getting your hair pulled out, you should read the next review.
This isn’t the first time I’ve had my eyebrows threaded but definitely a first with Amita. I recently moved to the Burlingame area and wanted to have my eyebrows threaded at a location that I could walk to. Because of all the great reviews on Unilocal about Amita, I decided to come here.
I would recommend that you call in advance to get an appointment. I called on a Thursday and got an appointment for Saturday at 4pm, which wasn’t too bad. But I would make an appointment to get a convenient time for myself (you don’t want to be stuck with an appointment during lunch time or in the middle of a day when most people are out enjoying themselves).
I got an eyebrow and upper lip threading done (Total = $ 20 for eyebrow and upper lips + tips):
To get straight to the point, here’s why I gave Amita a 5-​star rating:
— This was my least painful eyebrow threading experience. I’ve actually been to some where tears were trickling down my face as they were threading me. (Yes, it was THAT painful)
— Amita cares. She noticed that my eyebrows were slightly uneven and did her best to try and even it out in terms of angle and thickness. Plus, she didn’t rush through it all (give yourself 30 minutes with her)
— She took her time to carefully clean the surroundings of my eyebrows. This is by far the cleanest eyebrow threading session I’ve had. I left my prior eyebrow sessions with bits and pieces still noticeable on the edges and in between my brows.
— I don’t mind not having the small talks since she has a thread in her mouth and I feel paranoid about having someone chatting with me while they’re doing stuff like threading my eyebrows or cutting my hair. («Oops! I accidentally cut off a whole bunch of your hair because we were so busy chatting and laughing!»)
All in all, if you’re thinking of trying out a new place, you should consider Amita. Honestly, I was a little afraid at first (who wouldn’t be?! Eyebrows take forever to grow back when it’s done badly) but after my session, I immediately asked to be scheduled a month out.

There’s a reason Amita is a little harder to get an appointment with than most threading studios, which is the only sore spot in the threading experience here. Once you’ve locked in for your appointment it’s all uphill. Think of it as prom night for your eyebrows.
She really takes pride in her work, manicuring each brow into perfection. She threads, trims and plucks you into the perfect shape — no 10 minute rush jobs here! So allot the time (about 30 minutes) and know that you’re in good hands. As of this review the price is $ 15 for eyebrows.

The only person I go to for my eyebrows! She’s the best and only person I trust with my eyebrows. I moved to Long Beach and make sure when I go back home, I have an appointment with her. I get compliments on my eyebrows all the time and refer anyone who asks me about them to her. Make sure you call and schedule appointment ahead of time.

Amita is amazing! I’ve been her client for the past 5 years. I get compliments on my eyebrows everywhere I go!

Disappointing. Amita does good work, but it’s hard to get an appointment with her when she doesn’t call you back. I need to make an appointment as I live in SF.
Anyhoo, I popped in as I was in the area and asked if she had time, but she was having her nails done by the manicurist next door to her office and said she didn’t have time. Obviously, she had time to have a free manicure.
Not impressed by her customer service.

You best call to make an appointment because she can get busy. She doesn’t work on Mondays.
Been wanting to try this place and finally saw a LIVING SOCIAL discount ($ 10 for eyebrow and lip). She usually charges $ 15 I think. No post of her prices in her «studio»
She is located inside UK HAIR STUDIO. Walk past the hair cutting stalls and her studio is on the LEFT side at the end of the hair studio. There are nail/​shellac studios next to hers.
Amita does a thorough job on my eyebrown and upper lip. She will spend at least 30 minutes grooming, cutting, threading it. She doesnt really do small chatty talk but she gets the job done well.
PARKING is 25 cents for 30 minutes on the street.

Amita always does a great job on my eyebrows and I have not been disappointed so far. She is clean and spends a decent amount of time on me every time I go. I usually make an appointment before going but I’ve seen her accept walk-in’s.
For first timers, Amita’s space is located inside UK Salon so you just have to walk all the way to the back. Everyone there is friendly so ask if you don’t know how to get there. If Amita’s busy with a client, she also has a waiting area.
$ 15 + tip for eyebrow threading. Not open on Mondays. Metered parking on Burlingame Avenue or on the adjacent streets.

I am a big fan of threading now. I used to only get waxed and hated threading because it hurt so much. But a few months ago i got threaded from a waxer after she had waxed me instead of tweezing and it didn’t hurt at all… about the same amount of pain as tweezing. The next month I got a regular wax with no threading… and there was a MAJOR difference. Threading it totally worth it.
My BFFS come here and have been trying to convince me to come here for years. Finally I gave in. Amita is very thorough and friendly. She did a very good job on my brows which i was nervous about because i had never threaded my brows before just my lip and chin and those areas don’t need shaping like the brows do. But once I was done my brows were fantastic and she was so fast. She knows what she is doing and is good at it too. I am now a loyal customer! Can’t wait to see her next month.

I can only try to write my disappointment into this review… As you can see from my previous review, I have been a huge fan of Amita and her work. However, I’ve tried calling her for an appointment over the last three days and haven’t as much gotten a polite phone call back. I have no idea if she’s working or not (she sets her own hours) and I refuse to drop by (and risk still not getting an appointment plus waiting to talk to her).
In the past, I’ve been patient about always having to wait for her to finish with other people — it’s normal to wait at least 15 – 20 minutes beyond your appointment time and yet, I’m always on time just in case by some rare chance, she’s ready to see me at my appointment time and takes someone else instead (this has never happened).
So, this has been a full public disclosure of my lukewarm experience over the past year or so.

Unless you’re a dude who grooms his eyebrows, save yourself and pass on this review.
It has been a couple weeks since Amita threaded my eyebrows and they still have a clean edge and nice shape. No breakouts or hair bumps that can happen after waxing. I’m very happy with the results and would definitely return. $ 15 + tip.
If you park on B’game Ave., you’ll have to walk through a hair salon to get to her space in the back. I felt sort of lost, but one of the girls at the salon happily walked me. Recommended this place to a coworker who is equally happy and has decided that threading is the way to go!
