Leader Of The Pack!

Jane is a reliable and excellent dog sitter. I have two pugs and have entrusted her with their care on multiple occasions. She has accommodated me several times with taking them into her home even at the last minute when I have to leave town (something I hate to do often because I’m so attached to my dogs). I usually have her take them to her home when I’m away so that they will always have someone around when I am gone. It is not easy to find a service like Leader of the Pack who will do this kind of service. There are other services like kenneling places or daycare places out there with multiple dogs being watched at the same time, but I want this kind of individualized service for my dogs. If you are someone who considers your dogs to be like your children, this is the kind of service that would be right for you.
She did a thorough evaluation the first time she met them by coming to my home and observing my pugs and playing with them in my presence. She took careful notes on their feeding times and habits. She provided me with references of her clients when requested and they all had very positive things to say about her. On one occasion, she took one of them in to my vet (with my permission) because she was having trouble with a recurrent ear infection when I was gone.
Jane is conscientious and has always been prompt when picking up my dogs. I trust her with my dogs as a private sitter. She cares very well for my pugs and they appear to enjoy her company when I’m away. She even had her husband make a little video with music of them for me to enjoy watching when they were playing. They seemed to be having a great time. I would recommend her to care for your dog or other pets without hesitation.

So now that I’ve received a HOSTILE private message from Jane and she’s called in reinforcements to bump up her rating, I thought I should post a little update. So I have to clarify, since I didn’t in my original review, I was calling Jane to find out if she offered private boarding, NOT group day care or walking. IF she had let me get a word in edgewise before hanging up on me, she would have known that and I would have said thanks anyway and been on my way.
I appreciate that Jane doesn’t take unpredictable dogs into her multi-​dog environment. I NEVER would expect anyone to put any other dogs at risk because I’m the adoptive mom of a formerly abused rescue who came with some baggage. i FULLY understood what I was getting into when I adopted him, and I was merely looking for another dog lover to watch my two dogs in a private setting and I looked in the wrong place. But I don’t think that gives her the right to treat people the way I was treated and I think her behavior speaks volumes about her character. And I think that in a business that is so rooted in service and care, character is a perfectly reasonable thing for me to base my review on.
No, thankfully I havent used her services. But i did have a customer experience with her «business» and I believe that gives me the right to comment on that experience. Now I seriously considered posting her hostile message to me on here (believe me, it’s juicy), but clearly, she has a fan base that hasnt seen that side of her, so I’ll hope that I caught her on a really bad day and got the brunt of a bipolar moment. So I’ll just leave it at this, though I got the one hate mail from her, I got TWO separate emails from other people who have had similar experiences with her, thanking me for speaking up.

I wouldn’t trust my dogs to anyone else! Jane has taken care of my two dogs a few times when I have been away on vacation. Jane is reliable and loving — she has fun with the pets. She always takes them out for walks and to the dog park. She stays with them at home for a while to keep them happy when you are away. I have seen her at the dog park with some dogs who are harder to handle, and she is amazing in her ability to manage all types of dogs whether shy or aggressive.
Jane also boards pets and I have seen their «hotel». She has transformed her garage into a comfortable and large area for the dogs, and they have a door to the backyard. When one dog had trouble, she slept in the hotel to keep it company.
Jane also takes care of cats, rats, spiders, snakes and all animals. You can leave your pets in her care and not worry at all — she is so trustworthy.
I read the earlier review and I have to question it – this does not sound accurate and Jane would not have handled the situation this way. But everyone can go on Unilocal and say their piece.

Jane is at the very beginning stages of being a dog walker. If your pet is old, then she might be the right person for you. But, if your pet has normal energy levels, Jane is not the right solution — she does not have the expertise to deal with normal dogs.
Additionally, there were several times where she showed up 3 – 4 hours past the time we agreed to. This is not acceptable for pets when they are used to a certain schedule. Even once, she didn’t show up and claimed she came by.

PS — in Jane’ s response she says her house «is a far drive for me»…but I lived in San Mateo… the exact area on her website? Odd. don’t you think?
