Sterling Cleaners

I would give this cleaners a MINUS ZERO rating. I took a brand new Pucci dress in to be cleaned for the first time last week. After picking up the dress at Sterling, I put the dress on that night and discovered the dress had been SHRUNK and became too tight and way way too short. I called the cleaners and was told to bring the dress in. BARRY, the owner called me to say that there was NO way the dress had shrunk. Of course I had read other Unilocal reviews where Sterling Cleaners had shrunk their clothes and took NO responsibility. I told this to my husband, and he told me Sterling Cleaners had LOST four of his fine dress shirts. They gave him years ago when Barry was the owner $ 15.00 per shirt which was a joke. If you place any value on your clothing, 100% STAY AWAY FROM STERLING CLEANERS.

Not only do I love this cleaners because we have the same name but because of its superior service. I’ve tried many cleaners around this area & have found that Sterling Cleaners has the best results & most importantly, the best customer service. I highly suggest using them for any item of clothing

I’d give no stars if I could — horrible customer service. I have now had 2 shirts ruined by this dry cleaner — ripped sleeves at the cuff. That is bad enough. However, they have blamed me for it both times — implying I dropped them off that way. I doubted them the first time, but gave them the benefit of the doubt — even though the rip was almost 3″ long! As if I wouldn’t see that. So, I made a point of checking every sleeve personally before I drop it off. When they told me today that I dropped it off with the rip in it I about lost it. Your choice, take your chances if you’d like, but be prepared to talk to someone who acts like a 5-​year old when they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar — not taking responsibility for their actions.

Great costumer service excellent dry cleaning and great prices I recommend this place. They offer home delivery as well very convenient when you are low on time on a daily basis.

Most expensive dry cleaners I’ve ever been to. I wish I had known what the prices were before I got «taken to the cleaners.» $ 20 each to dry clean five suits? Ridiculous! I’ll find another and make sure I ask what the prices are before I leave something else here.

My shirt that my wife had cleaned here ended up being steam-​rolled and scorched and totally ruined as far as I was concerned. I have told her to never ever take anything else of mine to this establishment.

AVOID THIS PLACE!!! They attempt to entice you with a «25%» discount your first time, but beware, they raise the prices tenfold the next time you come! I dropped off two sets of scrubs to get dry cleaned, and the price…$ 35!!! It was not only ridiculously priced, but they failed to get my garments properly cleaned. I would TRY to understand their insane prices if the service was above and beyond, but it wasn’t. Also, when you drop off your items, they do not disclose ANY prices to you, even if you ask! That should have been my first warning sign. Honestly, there are so many other dry cleaning facilities out there that actually care about their customers, and keep their prices moderate; this NOT being one of them. I would advise everyone to stay away from this place, unless you want to overpay for mediocre service.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Two things you want in a cleaner — to get your clothes back and get them back clean. Well, they come back clean, but they don’t always come back. In the past three months they failed to return three VERY expensive shirts. Either someone has light fingers when they see a label they like, or they just don’t have good quality control. Either way, not good. Sterling has seen the last item of clothing from me.

first time here… dropped off 3 items using safeway coupon. the prices of the items are not itemized on my receipt so i am not entirely sure what each piece cost or which discount was applied to my bill but picked up my items after 4 business days for $ 24…with the coupon. i am not a regular dry cleaning person but $ 8 each is about what i expected.
lady at counter very friendly and prompt. would return if had items in the future but will ask to see the bill so i know what i am paying for.

I dropped 3 pairs of trousers off that I had just picked up from Banana Republic to get hemmed, and am very happy with the quality of the work.
They showed me to a (tid bit shabby) dressing room to try the trousers on, walked me out and the older woman who was working in front of the sewing machine came to pin the hem to the right height. They asked all the important questions, such as he height of my normal shoes, etc.
I showed up early on the day they said they would «try to have them ready by», earlier than the time stated on the pick-​up receipt, and they were pressed and ready.
I had also asked, in passing, to have the buttons reinforced, and the were. The stitching was reinforced, double stitching with very nice thread color matching. They look like a million bucks, and the price they quoted when I dropped them off was more than what they ended up charging me!

I’ve gone here several times over the years, and the service was professional and friendly. On my last visit, I wasn’t greeted, looked at or acknowledged as a human being. A surly woman grabbed my clothes, asked for my phone number, grunted and handed me a ticket and walked off. Even though this place is close to my house, like the other posters, I will drive ANYWHERE else rather than go to Sterling again.

Ridiculous prices, especially for such dismal work/​service. $ 20 for a basic hem when I came to them with measurements, $ 15 to dry clean skirts.
Every time I go in to this place (they’re literally 2 blocks from my house — you can’t possibly know how much I want them to be at least adequate for the sake of location), they mess something up, and I feel like I’m going to blow my stack. I’ve had numerous experiences where they say they’ll do something and they don’t, or they promise a time line (I don’t ask for a specific time unless it’s important) and then disappoint.
I once dropped off a work suit that I stressed was very important to have done (I dropped it off a full 5 days ahead of time and of course they told me it would be no problem to have it ready). They didn’t have it ready when they told me I could pick it up (the night before I needed to wear it). The woman told me to come back at 7:30am the day I would need to wear it. I did. When I showed up at 7:30am she told me I had told her I’d be in at 8am and the pants still had to be pressed. Holy crap.
On top of everything, their system prints out the customer’s phone number on their tickets. Because my phone number is a 415 area code, and the area code isn’t printed on the ticket (but IS in their computer system) I never know whether or not it’s true when they claim they’ve called to tell me about whatever screw up ahead of time.
I will say they’re very nice people. I almost suspect that whoever is running this place is completely inept, because it’s a mathematical impossibility that everyone working for this establishment could be this terrible at providing dry cleaning service.
I told them this last time around that I couldn’t in good conscience return if they messed up this last order. They messed up the last order. I won’t be returning.
I think the 5 star rating posted here is a fake.

If you love clothes and want them to stay in the best possible condition, take them to Sterling Cleaners. These people KNOW fabric. They are the gold standard as far as I am concerned. The woman behind the counter greeted me politely, took my clothes happily, and when I picked them up 5 days later, they looked perfect and a button had been repaired. After going to Sterling, I am not going anywhere else.

I share the sentiments of the reviewers that have come before me. It is probably not good business to announce to your customers as they enter that your prices are «very expensive». Also, it is not customary to charge different prices for different color sweaters. Apparently at this place, and no other cleaner I have ever been to, light color sweaters cost more than dark color sweaters… huh? There is also $ 2 additional for cashmere sweaters. This $ 2 additional to the already ridiculously high price. The only thing that is reasonable is laundered/​press shirts! Never again on this one. Terrible terrible.

Outrageous prices! There are plenty of other dry cleaners in Burlingame that are much better and their prices are much more decent that this place! We did have a lot of dry cleaning, about 15 pieces, but it came out to almost $ 200! We are used to paying about $ 100-​$ 110, but not almost double. A man’s shirt was $ 12.75, almost half of what my old dry cleaners would charge. They don’t give you prices when you first come in, which we thought was weird, but we thought it would be an average of NORMAL dry cleaning prices… boy were we wrong. I will never be visiting this dry cleaners again, even if it was the only one in Burlingame, I would drive all the way to a different town for better service and better prices.

I walked in the door with a pile of clothes and the woman behind the counter gave me a sour face and announced that their cleaning services are «very expensive» with a warning tone. She picked out a few of my items and actually handed them back to me telling me it would be too pricey to clean them. It was fairly offensive– how does she know what my dry cleaning budget is? I can only imagine she was profiling me due to my age. I did leave 5 shirts/​sweaters and 4 pairs of pants that they cleaned for about $ 70. The dry cleaning is decent but the attitude and service will keep me from returning.

Didn’t actually use Sterling as I was told as soon as I walked in the door «we are more expensive then other dry cleaners.» I wasn’t sure whether to be relieved that they fessed up or upset that they thought I was a cheapo. In a confused state I walked out.

The closest cleaners to my apartment. They do a good job, but you have to wait several days as they send it out to who knows where.
