Tuniss Computers

My husband and I just had cameras installed all over our house using this company. The first day they were installed we found a stolen car with individuals stealing property over the Thanskgiving weekend. We contacted the police and they wanted copies of the video. Tuniss has been very unhelpful in helping us get video to the police. We just got the cameras and are not familiar with how to use them. They gave us software to open the files, which does NOT work. No Sam, who installed the cameras will not return our calls, of course, because he has our money. The cops go to court tomorrow to put this guy in jail. They need this video and this company is NONRESPONSIVE and very unhelpful.

I brought a laptop down to Tuniss that had been infected with a particularly nasty piece of malware that had eluded all of the usual fixes. The registry was modified and I was beyond pleased with the job they did cleaning up the PC, one I had spent a great deal of time on and got nowhere on.
The last time I brought a computer down to Tuniss there was more of a delay on getting the computer looked at and I had the impression that there had been staffing changes. That said, if (when?) I need assistance in the future I’ll go to Tuniss before anywhere else to see if they can help.

I feel really bad to write a bad review because these are nice guys at Tunis and I don’t want to cost them their livelihood. But the reality is, its important that they either reform their actions and people should know that currently there are problems with their work.
I went in to get an external hard drive. My macbook pro 2011 was running slowly. I had a deadline the following week and I thought I should take all of my data off, to make more room on the computer, perhaps this would speed it up even just a little. So I went to Tunis and the man behind the counter said it won’t make a difference. He said they could take a look at it and asked me what were the issues. I said I wasn’t really sure why it would be slow. I suggested maybe the fan was not cooling the computer because sometimes it would get hot pretty fast. He listened to it, and he said it sounded fine, but just in case I hired him to clean out the fan.
So, he then told me that my laptop could possibly take more RAM, and he could check once he opens up the laptop to clean the fan. So, I said, yes, please call me, because if that is possible it would surely speed up my computer. So far everything they said showed that they knew what they were doing.
He called me and said it could take up to 8 gigs and it only had four. I later checked the notes of my previous repair guy, who wasn’t available that day. In his notes he says that it already had 8 gigs of RAM.
They called me back in because something happened when they took out my RAM and replaced it with their RAM, and the computer was in a weird loop and it would not start, just tons of numbers and letters. When I got there the boss was there. It seemed the man who I spoke with first was his student. The boss guided him through a couple of tests to see what was wrong, and he told me that it was the RAM. Well thats funny because there had been nothing wrong with the RAM before he pulled it out and installed his RAm. And it was now clear that the man working on my computer was not capable of diagnosing the issues, and only the boss was.
He also said there was no difference between the model in 2011 and today, that it would be the same. But in 2011 there are major differences in RAM capacity in macbook pros. I knew this, but he seemed to be speaking from dealing with mac very rarely.
The point is, my deadline has passed, and I lost my contract. After they destroyed my computer, I called my friend the technician who had been too busy that day to help me, and he called them to find out what happened. He spoke with the man who had first started to work on my laptop. After he got off the phone, he told me it was like speaking to someone who didn’t understand even the basics of computer science, just someone who kind of knew a few tricks but clearly had destroyed my computer. I quickly went to the shop and picked up my computer. My friend is now trying to get my data off the computer but so far whatever they did is making that difficult. There was no way I was leaving that computer with them.
A few of my friends who know computers told me to take them to small claims court, but I don’t want to take people to court. I want that they just fix their actions. If the main boss is the only one who really is skilled enough to work on computers, he should hire other people who can too.
My computer was working it was just slow and I wanted to just check to see if legitimately there was something that could be done to speed it up. If there was not, okay fine no big deal. I would continue working it would just be slow. Now not only am I unable to meet that deadline, but I have to buy a new computer. I don’t have that kind of money. They seem like okay guys but they just don’t know enough about how computers work to run a shop. One of the guys seems like he has the degree in computer science and the other guys are his friends or family who work there.
I feel bad to give a bad review. From reading the other reviews it sounds, to me, like its their friends writing a review after each person writes a bad review. So its possible they will do the same again after I write this. Thats okay, let them keep their business. But fix their actions and make sure not to let the other guys work on the computer, because my computer is destroyed. They are nice guys, but this is not enough.

We go to install security systems including cameras and alarms. He has the joyful spirit, and he keeps singing while we are working just to have fun. He appreciates my circumstances because I’m a high school junior… He is just awesome

Two stars because they tried. However, after 6 (six!) return trips they failed to even diagnose/​fix problem. Cmptr would, at random times, restart itself. This is a cmptr they themselves built for me. Once they replaced fan. That fan when started up at home almost immed made strange noise. my guess is they only oiled up existing fan. they replaced that fan with actual new one. take it home, same self restart prob. How about replacing OS? OK. THAT didn’t work either. Finally, «maybe you need new cmptr». Well it ain’t gonna be a Tuniss-​built one.

it is the best computer place in town!

Love this computer shop, located in the heart of Burlingame. It is quite a bizzy area, but rest assured tuniss will take care of you. I got a nasty virus on my computer. Not to mention I have A LOT of data. They were able to keep a lot of my program files intact, and were able to save all of my data without problem. They even spotted other issues with my comp, and were able to address them on the spot. Definitely come here for all my computer issues. Thanks guys and keep up the great work.

I had been through a lot of computer hacks in my years, and none of them were worth a S**t. I was recommended to Tuniss several years ago.
Sam has built for me a few computers at a reasonable cost and they have always served me well. I have read some of the negative reviews and I can only say that they don’t reflect any experience that I have had with Tuniss. No, Sam and I are not close friends and I have nothing to gain by writing this review and Sam won’t even know who wrote this. All I can tell you is that Sam and Tuniss Computer has never failed to deliver what they said they would.

I’ve had two repair jobs done in the last year.
One laptop repair was done well, but the final price was increased 15% beyond the estimate w/​o my consent. poor form.
The other desktop was replaced with one of their builds and the data transferred
Price was reasonable but I still cannot find any of my data on the computer. I will have to spend a yet to be determined amount to have my data reinstalled so that it can be used. All in all not the best value. Not the most service oriented folk, The best thing about them is that they are close by, but I can’t say I trust the work.
If they were just more service oriented, I could see using them more…

NEVER AGAIN! I took my laptop into Tuniss to remove a virus, just as I had 3 times before… They remove the virus and charge me 125.00.
Well, this time they removed my Microsoft Office (without my knowledge) and then told me to reinstall it from my cd’s (which I misplaced when I moved 3 times in the last 3 years) So now I can’t even read and of my documents that was done on Microsoft Office (which was almost ALL of them). So, I’m out about 300.00 there. Then they misplaced my power cord and tired to give me someone elses that didn’t even fit my laptop. So, that costs another 85.00.
So…all in all. I paid 125.00 to remove the virus (which they did)…about 300.00 for Microsoft Office…85.00 for a new power cord. The more I talk about it with friends and local business owners I’m finding out that interesting things happen alot at Tuniss.
**BE SURE TO TAG OR MARK ALL YOUR THINGS WITH YOUR INFO ON IT IF YOU TAKE ANYTHING THERE. AND BACK UP… BACK UP… AND BACK UP.
I will be contacting BBB and any other consumer advocacy I can find to listen…

i have gone to tunnis4 times.
*my client recommend them. i then walked in and my laptop needed a simple fix– they did not charge me for it.
*once when they came into my business to fix the computer.
* they sold me a computer a couple years ago.
* finally last week when my computer would not start they had it up and running «almost new» by the end of the day. (thanks george)
i can not say enough for this company that rescued my business many times. they are smart fair and fast!

Check this out;
I go to find out what’s wrong with my pc. They say it’s the graphics card, they put a new one in. Get home, same issue. After many parts and being told this and that (still didn’t work right as it turns out it was something completely different, too long to write here),
I go to another place. They are amazed how much I was charged for a 3 year old card ($ 89.00). I then decided to call Tunis Computer later that day to see if they have a card in stock that would work with my pc. George said yes and then continued on to try and sell me the exact same, 3 year old card for 89.00. When I stated to him that the same 3 year old card is for sale online for 40.00, George said that «oh we must have a old price» I then told George that he had sold me that same exact card for 89.00. George then said; «I don’t think I was here then, what do you want an apology?» that was it. Unless the staff turnover for Tunis is monthly, It could have only been 1 of three or so people that are working there. We as customers can only assume that the staff are all on the same page with the owner and the goods they are selling and their prices. :(
(One would think a computer store would have more reviews, well that’s assuming their customers have working computers long enough to post a review)

You are a fool to shop here. Even if you are a long time dedicated customer as I «was» you can not trust them to be giving you a fair and honest deal. ((do your research before you buy here if you absolutely

We’ve been using Tuniss for all sorts of home-​office computer needs since 2002. We keep coming back because:
– they do the simple stuff quickly, reliably and at a good price
– they conduct themselves very professionally and competently when jobs don’t turn out to be so simple after all. They explain where the snarls are. They tell us what different solutions are possible, and how much each one will cost; how long it will take, and how fully/​partially it will address our needs.
– they’re proud of their reputation. They’ve stayed on some tricky jobs, on a fixed-​price basis, way past the point that they were making money. They just wanted to solve it properly. We appreciate that.
We’ve got full value from them every time, and in a few cases, getting care from Tuniss has been an amazing bargain. If you’ve got a realistic sense of what can and can’t be done with your (ailing) computer, you’ll be very happy with the work that Tuniss provides.

I found out about this place about 2 years ago after meeting the owner and his cousin by accident in a sushi bar! He was a very cool guy…
Two days ago my laptop stopped turning on. I didnt know if the problem was really bad or just the power cord, I didnt have a way to test it. First place I thought of was Tuniss, so off I went…
Sam the owner wasn’t there but I met Derrick (sp?) who helped diagnose my laptop in a jiffy while he was juggling two other people and the computers he was trying to fix.
I got lucky, it was just the power cord. I was in and out of there quick. Luckily I didnt have to deal with checking my machine in, waiting, etc…, still, I have to appreciate Derrick and the store for helping me out in the manner they did.

Met him through a personal friend of mine. I purchased my computer and most accessories from him. Both Sam and Eric are knowledgable, helpful in repairs, advice, etc.

We were not at all happy with the «non service» that we got at Tuniss computers. When the owner wanted to sell us something, he was charming, but when we brought our computer in for service, we left with more problems than we had before we entrusted our computer to them. The response we got when we went back for help was a little shrug of the shoulder and the smallest «sorry» that you have ever heard. We were leaving town in just a couple of days, and they could not fit us into their busy schedule to solve the problems that they had created on our computer.

Tuniss did everything they could to try to revive my laptop. It was like watching a scene from the TV show «ER». But in the end they could not get it to work. They did not charge me for all this effort, because they said they charge only for repaired machines and all this was included in the «diagnostics». I will definitely go back and gladly pay for it the next time.
