Marquis Tree Service

Second job with Marquis at our home in Burlington, MA. We removed three ~70′ pines and one ~70′ cherry. The crane truck crew, captained by Marlon, was incredible. Best-​in-​class equipment, great teamwork/​communication, extreme precision, and willingness to work well into the evening (having arrived at ~2P from another job) to finish the job. Can’t say enough good things about the crew. Christie, who schedules the jobs and communicates with customers by phone, is very nice to work with despite being extremely busy juggling all of the customer demand. Please don’t hesitate to proactively call her to get your job scheduled. Peter Collins, who estimates jobs in our area, is professional and knowledgeable. All in all, you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not having Marquis Tree Service at least provide a quote for your next job in the greater Burlington area.

Great service. They were on time, finished early and did a nice job cleaning up before they left. They took down 5 tall pine trees in a few hours. Team was professional and polite and made sure they checked in with me when they arrived and before they left. Would use again if the need arises.

Really nice crew. Works fast and efficiently. Guy running the crane is amazing. Thought bunch of trees will have collateral damage from 4 huge pines that had to be removed. Nope. Not even a broken branch on any of them. So happy about that.
They left the property nice and clean.

They showed up on time, completed the walk through & off to work they went. They pruned up about ten of our over-​sized oak trees and the yard looks manageable again. Everything went into the chipper and they left the yard cleaner than when they arrived. I can’t say enough good things about the crew that came to our house other than they were great! Yes we did quote others, they were the cheapest & Yes we would hire Marquis Tree Service again.

Marquise does fantastic work I didn’t even know they were here they were so quiet and yet after they were done I didn’t know they had left the yard was so clean I didn’t even realize they had been here yes I would hire them again and again.

Just had the pleasure of watching 4 incredibly talented men cut down two huge trees using a massive cane on my property. They did an amazing job. On time. On budget and without incident. Excellent work. Highly recommend.

Used them at the beginning of 2014. Had a few big pine-​trees I needed to get rid of (including stump grinding). They did a great job for a decent price.

We have used Marquis for several jobs (including total removal of a dangerous 100 year old tree). Each time they have done a fabulous job. There estimates were very reasonable and much lower than competitors. I’m not sure why there are so many bad reviews on here, but I have been quite satisfied and plan on using them in the future.

Just not good. Came out to do work on my parents house. Charged SICK money, did half the work, then talked my Dad into cutting 2 more trees that were just fine. Total Bill? $ 3,000. Estimate? 1,200. Total ripoffs and ruined tree they cut.

I had the nice pleasure of meeting one of the service guys. I can’t believe how unprofessional someone can be out on the road, talk about almost run me over!!! You really shouldn’t be driving around in a company vehicle with the name clearly on the side of the truck and act like a crazy unprofessional human being. Seriously have a little class and learn how to work with the public. I will certainly not be calling them anytime soon for landscaping work and tree service.
I would advise others to seek out a buisness who can be professional and know how to speak with others.

Marquis is one of the most efficient, professional, and responsible organizations I’ve worked with in recent memory. We were clearing out some old and dead trees and shrubs and they kept me in the loop from the start about what I’d like to have done, etc. They were able to saw off some branches of a maple tree I could use for firewood and the cleanup was spotless. They was trouble with a small ash tree that was on the border with a neighbor and entangled with some fence. John the owner was good enough to return my call and said he’d take care of it even after the finished the initial job. Great company, sad they’re not the norm for others!

I’ve had Marquis Tree take down some very large trees on my property on two different occasions. Both times the crew was extremely courteous and very professional. For both jobs, John Marquis did the quote on the spot and had some useful advice on which trees to take down (or not). There was never any pressure to cut down any trees as some of the other posts suggest. These guys also have some of the best (and biggest) tree cranes and equipment you’ve ever seen that make it easy to reach trees far away from your driveway. I highly recommend these guys.

I have to give Marquis 5 stars as the work they did for my house was exceptional. Some old reviews i think were dated as they are very good at what they do. John, the owner was responsive and quotes were reasonable. The crew who did the removal of three big trees were very skillful with a huge crane which makes the job look easy and very reliable, clean afterwards. The stump grinding crew were excellent as well. My neighbor stopped by and was impressed with the equipments and the job they did. Highly recommended!

I took the morning off of work to be here for the estimate. I saw they guy pull up in his truck, fill out paperwork, talk on the phone and then drive off.
he had the balls to say I wasn’t home. um, I was sitting next to an open window by the open door, completely visible, with 2 cars in the driveway.
can I bill YOU for my missed time at work???

The main things I want to point out are that Marquis Tree did good tree work for a competitive price, however, they were not able to adequately clean up all of the debris that fell during the job, due to muddy (snowy, cold, wet) January post-​storm conditions.
I did not want the job done in poor weather, but felt pressured into scheduling the job for a couple of days after a series of snowstorms. This was largely because there was a dangling limb that was of some concern. The contract’s are time based, so the working conditions are a factor, as well as what you want done during that time.
The tree work itself seems very good; the crew member (Derek) that did the climbing and cutting was very friendly and I believe he did quality work. The price was quite acceptable; about low mid-​range of the estimates I received.
The reason I give three stars and not more is the clean-​up that was left, and the reason why it came to be that way; a scheduling misunderstanding that lead to the job being done in the mud. The overall work was four or five star worthy though, had the weather conditions not hampered the clean-​up effort.
In summary, Marquis Tree does good tree work at a competitive price, based on my experience. One might also want to consider the weather conditions for the job, specifically how it can affect a final clean-​up of the fallen debris.

Just had Marquis take down several trees in our yard, two of them quite tall. They showed up on time, as promised, did a great job, and cleaned up completely. No complaints. Nothing but compliments. The guys were very pleasant and chatty during their breaks. I learned a lot about their business and have a new-​found respect for the profession.

Found this company online. They were terrific. Arrived on time and were professional, friendly and took care with our property. They quickly and easily removed two very large pine trees from the back corner of our yard — not an easy task. We have no more trees in our yard so won’t need other work but I would recommend them to anyone. Price was reasonable based on other quotes we had for the work. Scheduling was a bit tricky but it wasn’t emergency work.

I cannot believe some of the bad reviews here for Marquis. I hardly think that Marquis tree goes knocking on doors to cut trees in everyone’s yard, but I’m sure if I owned a company and someone needed trees to be taken down I might be ‘pro-​active’ too.
We had a few trees (non-​native invasive species that did not let anything else grow) removed from our yard last year. We had several companies drop by to give us quotes. The owner John came by on the scheduled date, on time, to give us a quote. He was very professional and personable and the quote was emailed shortly after. They came on time on the scheduled day, completed the work and cleaned up all the debris. There were no surprises. We had a lot of work done last year and Marquis stood out as one of the best companies.

Today they removed two trees from my yard. I obtained several bids and they were certainly on the reasonable end of the price range. On the scheduled day they arrived on time, were professional and courteous, did what was quoted, and cleaned up. I’m very pleased.

Marquis Tree and landscaping seems to be a very alarming organization. We have lost 9 full growth trees, in the past 3 years, in our neighborhood and Marquis is one of two landscapers involved in cutting the trees. Even when not cutting full growth trees their usual approach is to level an entire lot, leaving very few trees at all.
I do not know if Marquis is a quality organization or not, but Marquis is very pro-​active about finding jobs and I feel that they sometimes pressure people, especially seniors, into having trees cut.
There are a lot of smaller enviromentally responsible landscapers out there, I would like to encourage people use them in an attempt to encourage Marquis to be more responsible about our enviroment.
