V.I.P. Tailor

Dropped a dress off for a simple hem two weeks ago, called yesterday to see if it was done and if I could pick up one day early, they said it wasn’t done but promised they would finish it that day and call me as soon as it was done. I didn’t receive a call, so decided to go pick it up the next day at 1pm (when it was supposed to be done). Drive all the way there, and it’s not done. Have to wait until 5pm for it to be finished, and then they charge me $ 48 for 10 minutes of poorly done hem. Next time I’ll safety pin it and save myself the 2 hours driving and parking. Poor communication and late delivery, for a $ 12 hem I might live with it but not for $ 50

They messed up my brown blazer 3 times. I needed it sized and fitted, then it was too small. Returned it and they charged me to make it bigger. So they did and now it’s even bigger than before. I asked what the hell is their problem. Then they took it back and will do it free of charge. Still waiting. Hopefully it comes out right this time. But I will defff never return

If I could give no stars I would. My friend and I went in. He had brand new suits, needed a simple hemming on the pants. Two suits. They made the marks on the right leg of each pant on the inside part. We figured everything was fine, grab lunch and he gets a voicemail saying there’s an emergency. We go back and there’s a very deliberate cut mark, made with a Scissor Or razor, on the left leg of the pants an inch above the chalk mark. I asked what happened, that the pants were fine when we left. They said it was there. They didn’t charge him but they definitely damaged his pants for no reason. We had to see if the store would accept the return. I would never go there again.

I brought two suits in for some alterations. These suits are amazing! Great job! I highly recommend them!

Terrible, terrible, terrible. I’ll start out by first saying, I can sew and use a sewing machine. I came in with a dress that needed to be sewed on the seam, thread came loose and just needed a quick fix. I would do it myself but I am busy and willing to pay for convenience. The man gave me this whole thing that he would need to take it all apart including the zipper and that it was too much work. Really? It’s a a quick fix, he then quoted me $ 20 for the small fix. Really!!! He kept saying it was too much work, i told him it’s easy i can do it but I’m busy i run a business, have kids etc… he pretty much refused to provide the service that the business is there for. He told me go hand sew it myself .They gave me a hard time the last time to have a dress hemmed. NEVER AGAIN. Worst customer service. So bad it earned my fist Unilocal review. Please don’t start a business you can provide service for. So many actual tailors out there.

I really like this place. Not the cheapest place to get work done, but I have had them do a number of suits as well as True Religion jeans and I have no complaints. They do a better job than most on the True Religion jeans as well, because they maintain the original cuff. I know that it is more painstaking to accomplish this.

I had a pair of pants hemmed here — a very simple procedure. I wore them several times, had them dry cleaned once, and the hem came out. I called and very politely asked if they would fix them at no cost, since I have never had another pair of pants that the hem didn’t last, especially after one dry cleaning. They refused to do it and were actually rather rude. I can assure you that I was very polite and did not get aggressive or stern at any point. The call ended with them hanging up on me.
Don’t ever go here.

Needing basic business attire in a pinch, I bought a suit at Jos. A Bank across the street (some would say that was my first mistake), and the salesman suggested that I take the pants to this shop at the Burlington Mall for hemming. He said he had been referring people here «for years» and had «never had a problem.» I strolled over to the mall expecting to become a small part of this track record of excellence.
I walked in to speak with the husband and wife running this place. To their credit, they were able to take care of the pant alteration relatively quickly. They charged $ 20 for doing it within the hour, versus $ 15 for doing it within a few days. The former price is to be expected for rapid service, though the latter seems a bit high for the area. But it’s in the mall, so perhaps that inflates the price.
The man who took my measurements was professional enough. He’s not going to win conversationalist of the year, but he took the measurements properly, albeit with a no-​nonsense attitude. Again to his credit, he also noted (correctly, as it turned out) that the pants sold by the salesman were too big, as the waist bunched a bit. But we can get to that problem in a Jos. A Bank review.
He took care of the pant hemming, and they were ready for pickup at the time promised. Here’s where things started going downhill. When I walked in to pick up the pants I realized that the stitching had not been removed from the suit jacket pockets — I had forgotten to mention it earlier. I asked if he could take care of that for me; after all, I had just used his services and it takes almost no time. He looked at his wife — a person who has seemingly inspired fear and loathing among my fellow reviewers — and spoke in a rapid fire staccato in a highly animated tone. Alas, their conversation was in a different language, and is thus lost to the ages. When it concluded after about 15 seconds, he turns to me and says «$ 20.» I actually laughed and said, «Really? To pull out the stitching?» He nodded vigorously. Knowing that this task would take less than a minute with a tailor’s stitch remover, and mindful of the fact that I was already overpaying for a simple procedure, I told him to forget it. Still in disbelief, I paid for the hemming, irritated to have given him even this limited business. Shortly thereafter, I brought my jacket to a tailor in downtown Reading (Magic Cleaners, incidentally), and the kind woman there did it for free. I insisted on paying her for it, of course, but it just goes to show you the difference in service.
So in short, V.I.P. Tailors, you can pat yourself on the back. In an attempt to gouge me you have instead assured that I will never use your services again. I would advise prospective customers to use these folks only if they are in a time crunch, because they seem reliable even if their fees are exorbitant. Otherwise, I would look elsewhere. Not only are the people gruff, they seem to have little regard for building customer relationships.

Beware. .. if you have a service establishment in a high-​traffic mall just outside Lord and Taylor, you have little need for word-​of-​mouth referrals nor do you have an incentive to provide quality service.
Right out of the box, Mom and Pop have a (conveniently?) limited command of the English language. So any attempt at a discussion beyond the basic ‘how long do you want them” and «when do you need them» is frustrating.
I had two identical pairs of slacks that had the same imperfection in the seat. Mom’s first response was «there’s nothing wrong». Rather than going somewhere else, I pushed back because my pride tells me that I’m not imagining this. Pop joins the fray. She then recommends a «fix» ($ 15 per item) that, in the end (no pun intended) did absolutely nothing. When I picked them up, I went going through the same discussion with the same response — — «there’s nothing wrong.»
To be fair, they were part of two suits. Hemming and sleeves were OK and they delivered on time. But I don’t recommend using them for anything else.

A good tailor is a staple that everyone needs to have, and this place is awesome. I go to them for all of my tailoring needs and they do everything well.
They have:
–Practically remade a fugly bridesmaid dress that was 4 sizes too big in time for the wedding
–Tailored 2 pairs of pants in 1 hour
–Mended a bunch of sweaters that ripped at the seams
–Taken in the straps on an embroidered linen sundress
–Hemmed countless dress pants
The tailoring is always flawless, the price is always right, they’re always super fast and they are very, very nice.

I went in there to get the sleeves shortened on a coat I bought at Macy’s. She quoted me $ 38. I told her that Macy’s quoted me $ 25 but I’d pay $ 32 if she could be it done sooner. She said $ 38 and waved me off and turned her back on me.
