Solplicity

The best part of Unilocal is that it gives business owners a chance to fix what’s wrong. After my previous review, I was contacted by Agnes, who was our liaison moving forward. From that point on, we got regular updates. When we had questions or concerns, they were responded to in a timely fashion.
It’s important to know that there are a LOT of moving parts in this who solar equation: Solplicity, which finds clients and facilitates the whole process. The other major player is the solar servicing company, which actually installs the solar and deals with the city and county. Solplicity gets the HERO paperwork done, which is where our project originally bogged down. After signing up in April and hoping to have the panels up by June, we had a delay and essentially restarted in July. The process took 4 months from there, for a total time of 7 months. Once the ball got rolling, the parties involved were able to keep the momentum going. I expect issues to pop up during construction, and these were handled professionally by Solar Service Center and Solplicity. And Solplicity made things right with me with regards to the delay. If I had to do it again, I would go with Solplicity again.

At first, I was so upset and disappointed of the whole experience. Promised service
By early May but then finally done in Oct. created damages inside out of the house on several places. There are still two big holes on the dry wall now. Talked to many people but no one actually comes to fix it. Lack of communication and many confusions of who’s the ultimate party to deal with.
But last week a rep contacted me back after they saw my negative review feedback, and wanted to help reimburse some of the SCE bills to make it good. I appreciate that, better than nothing. But i am still awaiting for techs to fix my wall.
Don’t have their first bill yet. Will see what happens later.

I do not Recommend this company at all. My rep is James Manning. He seemed like he was on top of everything in the beginning, but as the process proceeded I did not even hear from him. It’s been 3 most now no Solar. The two times I have had to call customer service I was informed of a snag in the paperwork. Fixed the paperwork… there mix-​up not mine. Then didn’t hear anything for two more weeks called customer service only to find out my rep needs to contact me to re-​write contract and reduce systems??? WTF!!! Hello… do I really have to be calling to check status… Isn’t that what your reps are for??? Still have not heard from anyone and I sure am not going to be hearing about reducing my system!!!
Very very very poor customer service and definitely do not keep to their contract terms. Looks like I need to relay my contract to my attorney to see about filing lawsuit!!!
Highly do not recommend!!! Should have stuck to my gut and went with Peterson Dean.

This has been a complete nightmare with this company. It started off great with Ms. Morgan who sold us the program and then started going down hill fast. The people lie and they act as if you are stupid. We signed paperwork months and months ago. Had panels installed months ago, still waiting for the service to be turned on.
We keep calling Shane for days no response. We just found out yesterday from SDGE that the company has failed to follow procedures and have skipped many steps. If we didn’t all we would have never know, that this process was going nowhere. While we were on the phone with SDGE we get a call from Start Energy telling us that one of the panels isn’t giving a proper reading and must be changed bringing us back to step 1. They have been monitoring these panels for weeks and weeks, now they show an issue.
I ask you to save yourself and your blood pressure. Go elsewhere I don’t know where to send you but don’t get tangled in this nightmare. Constant run-​around with this company. Run, run and never look back. This looks like this might be 30 year commitment from Hell.

We chose to go solar with Solplicity after meeting with a couple of different companies. What I liked about this one was that our rep came over a few times to explain everything first to me and then my boyfriend and then my dad… Yes we were those people… Regardless, we weren’t rushed into signing and we were given their customer support phone number after the first meeting so I could call whenever I had any questions. Everyone has been very nice. I’m excited to break free of SCE’s high tiers!

We just had our system installed after years of consideration. We are so happy with the outstanding service we’ve received through this company. Our Star Energy representative, James Manning, gave knowledgeable answers to each and every «what if» situation I threw at him! I’m SO glad we waited until now. We have the newest cutting edge solar panels on our roof, and thanks to the federally sponsored program in California… WE DIDN’T HAVE TO PAY ONE DIME! Saving the planet, and our money… Nice! :-)) If you have good credit, and a solid roof… Do it!

I had James Sullivan, Energy Consultant come to my Mission Viejo home yesterday to present Star Energy Partners Solar. James was very helpful by providing me with the rising cost of energy pricing from SDGE and how the program that his company offers can save me money. He was very knowledgeable and was not high pressure like so many other sales people. I am seriously considering going with Star Energy Partners Solar.

We waited a long time to go solar and I was a bit worried about it. The panels look awesome — candidly I was surprised by how good they actually looked and the install was a lost faster and easier than I expected. Our rep Kelly was fantastic. Just helpful and she keep us in the loop all the time and was easy to get a hold of when we needed to. Now we expect to save about $ 100 a month. That’s the best part!

These people are the absolute best. I had researched other solar companies, and various solar options (buy, lease, etc.), but this company stood well out from the pack. Their sales people are low key, but their follow-​up was superb, on answering my stream of questions. And they laid out the options very clearly, with spread-​sheets on payback for every choice (for example, on whether to use American-​made panels or foreign-​supplied ones).
We chose not to buy or lease but instead did a PPA (Purchase Power Agreement), which means the company builds and owns the solar system on our roof, and we agree to buy the solar power produced there. Not only is this simpler for us (and provides the best pay-​back), but it means the company takes care of absolutely everything for 20 year life of the system (maintenance, repairs, insurance, permits, installation, and finance). Our system should supply about 80 percent of our needs (during the summer we’ll wind our meter backward, and build up credit with our utility, So. Cal. Edison, drawing on that credit in winter). And Star Energy has a strong incentive to keeping the system running optimally over the years, because the more it produces, the more we buy from them instead of Edison. (In fact, Star Energy switched our solar panels to a newer-​generation more efficient model just before the installation phase, at no extra cost to us.)
The people at Star Energy are the most responsive of any home improvement or construction company I’ve ever dealt with — whether by phone or email or interfacing me with others (city permit offices, installers, So Cal Edison, etc.) It’s a fairly long process, about six months, but Star Energy makes it clear sailing all the way. By the end, I felt they were not only dedicated professionals, but new friends. I never got passed around from one department to another — each person answering the phone could handle my questions directly. My next door neighbor is now going with Star Energy, and has had the same experience.

I am so happy I chose to go Solar with this company. I have had the panels up for a few months and I cant wait to save some money in the summer months coming up. The process took a few months but it was worth the wait. I had updates sent to me and anytime i had a question I just called the customer support line. Every time I called the customer support line I spoke to someone right away, no hold music… even at 7 pm!

Greg was my rep and an awesome guy. Reliable. Helpful. Not pushy. Going solar is a bit complex. He made it about as easy as it could be.

The entire team at Star Energy was amazing and professional. From the initial person who sold us the idea of solar energy, to the gentlemen who came to work on our stucco in the rain, to make sure it looked right, to Shane Robbins who has helped answer any and all questions regarding the process. I am a confident and excited Star Energy customer!

Our panels are up and look great!!! We are already saving hundreds. I am looking forward to summer when the A/​C is running like crazy and I won’t be worrying about the high cost!!! Very professional and knowledgeable team of people.

Jerk door to door salesmen banging on our door crazy instead of using the door bell in an elderly community. Didn’t identify themselves. Used a Southern California Edison electricity bill to mislead old residents that they are affiliated with Edison. When I asked them questions, they fussed their answers and told me to take it easy and didn’t leave after we asked them to leave. They left after we yelled at them and told them we’ll report them.
Solar is a great technology but employing dishonest sales people to scam people (especially old people in their 70s that may not be technological savvy) is wrong. It gives a preview of how this company conducts business. Hopefully this company will see this review and replace the jerks with better employees.

My neighbor just got solar panels on his roof and told us about Star. I didn’t know too much about solar at first, but I sure learned a lot really fast. A young man (Jeremy) came to our house and talked to my husband and I for about an hour. He was great. We were really impressed with how he answered all our questions, even the tough ones about what other companies are doing.
If you’re thinking about solar, just know it’s not a quick process. It took us a couple months. But this is why I can’t emphasize enough that someone like Jeremy was a pleasure to work with through it all!
We are so happy that we talked to him because every penny we can save now is huge to us. This is a big game changer on our bill. We pretty much are saving a $ 200 a month now. I recommend Star because this experience was so worth it to us.
