Learn To Ride VC

This course met and exceeded my expectations. A male friend of mine suggested we take the course together since I keep saying I want to purchase a bike soon. I was a little cautious as a no experienced rider as well as a female. However, I jumped right in and immediately made 10 new friends.
Day 1 of classroom until the last of the skills test on Day 2 was useful information. Our classroom instructor, Bob had a thorough knowledge of bikes and made the classroom interesting. On the range course he was joined by Jose, who was just as knowledgeable and engaged.
The small class size (12) makes for quite a bit of one on one instruction if you have specific areas that need more attention. If you are a more experienced rider, you may have to wait sometimes, but it helps build character. :) Usually those who needed additional attention were pulled off to the side and the training addressed while we continued.
It was warm on our days, so I suggest bringing a change of clothes to cool down if your classroom session is after the riding if you signed up for the one full day and 2 half days. No one wants to wear the boots ALL day long (I used flip flops)
There are helmets available if you need one and a variety of motorcycle choices. There are no surprises on the skills test. They will go over everything during the range course training. And by the end you are a top-​notch 20 mph, no traffic rider.
I can’t wait to take the intermediate course to build upon the skills learned in the beginner course on my own motorcycle.

I postponed taking this class forever. I have about 7 – 8 year riding experience, but it’s been about 15 years since I had my last bike. I decided that I would take my son and go through the course.
I’m glad I did, as there was good information for all that were in the course. The instructors keep it interesting and light. I enjoyed the class, the instructors and the time to watch my son gain more respect for riding than he would have learning on his own or from friends.
I recommend this highly if you’ve never ridden or just need to brush up.

I’m 68 and hadn’t been on a bike for for half my life. Today I went back for a «complementary» third day of training. That did the trick. Here’s what happened: early this week, I did the Two Day, but didn’t relax and was fighting the bike. I didn’t quite pass the test, despite the excellent coaching I’d had from James and Larry. Actually, they did me a favor by not issuing a certificate and sending me on my way. Before I left, Larry offered me an opportunity to do a third day and a re-​test. I jumped at it. Today, he greeted me heartily and had me join the afternoon class on the «Range.» I was welcomed back by Instructor Jose. He coached me though the exercises with relaxed and incisive comments. Coaching with few words, but clear gestures, he showed me how to improve until I «got it.» All the skill sets we’d been practicing came together smoothly. I passed the riding test with ease. This third day of training made all the difference and I had fun doing it. Thank you, Learn to Ride VC.

I want to express my tremendous respect and appreciation for James, Larry and Sabrina for a wonderful experience. I was a complete novice with a few hours of 50cc Moped experience (and am not a spring chicken). James has mastered the art of teaching while maintaining the student’s dignity and building confidence. As a flight instructor, I recognize the challenge of walking that fine line between being uncompromising on safety and still keeping the fire of exploration alive.
The curriculum is well designed and disciplined. All focused on being a safe rider Just put yourself in the hands of these talented and devoted teachers and you will do well.
Much to the bruising of my ego, i failed to meet the safety standards by the end of day two (lets just say I gently in slow-​mo laid the bike on top of myself at 2mph once or twice. School policy and James’s good judgement determined that I should call it a day and come back in the next few weeks for a complimentary retake of day 2 training and the test. I admire James for the way he handled the incidents from start to finish. I intend to complete the course and am confident with the Learn to Ride VC method, I’ll succeed.

Amazing! Absolutely worth the time, money, and experience from beginning to the very end.
I took the two day Basic Motorcycle Training Course (MTC). I had never rode prior and signed up solo without knowing anyone else in the class. I made friends with my other fellow riders quickly and easily.
Sabrina (Office Manager) — helpful, patient, and accommodating. Answered all my questions when I signed up over the phone and sent all my needed paperwork promptly.
James and Jose (our class Instructors) — both were so awesome! Different styles of classroom teaching and both were equally engaging and knowledgeable. On the actual range, I felt comfortable with their direction and appreciated their feedback. I never felt bad when they corrected what I was doing and they were really paying attention to each student. Each skill was thoroughly explained, practiced, and built upon. Breaks were given at perfect times throughout the time block.
Larry (Owner) — Great guy! Interacted with our class, answered questions, provided tips and help, and was also engaging.
Classroom — Great space. Bathroom is clean. There is coffee, water, a vending machine, and candy in the classroom, but bring your own if you feel like something different.
Range — There is a van that takes students from the airport parking lot to the Range. There are helmets you can use if you don’t have one. They will provide you with a hair net to wear under the helmet. They also have some gloves but I suggest in investing in your own. Don’t forget your sunglasses and over the ankle boots! Water and small snacks provided. The portable toilets are clean! I was able to bring a bag with me with a change of clothes (I was paranoid about getting too hot and cold, ripping something, who knows what else) and some snacks/​foods with me onsite.
Classroom and Range are in different locations
Notes:
1. Wear layers. It was cold in the classroom but hot in the practice area.
2. Breaks in the classroom locations are not long enough to leave site.
3. There is definitely enough time to pick up a fast lunch in the break between the classroom and range. For out of towners, there is a shopping center around the corner from the airport with (fast) food options on Las Posas.
4. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!
5. Bring your SPF for your face on the Range. All the skin on your body will be covered with clothes and gear, but your face (maybe neck) will still get that sun through the helmet.
6. Read your manual that they send in your email.
7. Make sure the pants you wear that are in compliance to their requirements fit you properly. There is a lot of getting on and off the bike and riding. Hiking your pants or making sure your butt isn’t showing isn’t something you should be worried about.
This was overall a top notch program. Good luck and happy (safe) riding!

Came into this class with a grand total of 10minutes on two wheels (my friends scooter!). Not only do you learn what everything you need to get started, you have a fun time as well. I took the class two weeks ago and I have my M1 and own my first bike with almost 100miles under my belt. The instructors are really great, helpful, knowledgable and entertaining. The students were all types of people that were all there to learn and have a good time. It was excellent and I can’t wait to take the advanced course!

I had never ridden a bike before coming to this class and the guys at L2R were so helpful. They went step by step and really walked you through how everything works and how do everything. They really make you feel comfortable on the bike and make sure you feel confident and comfortable the whole program. I highly recommend this class for everyone who rides! They really help to teach you everything from how to think when your riding to how to turn and shift gears. My only negatives I was bummed about are that the bikes don’t get as taken care of as they probably should so so some of the a broken and I got stuck on a bike that I didn’t like or want to ride and wasn’t comfortable on and they would t switch my bike for me (some liability or something), but I guess in the long run that’s just going to make me a better rider.

After many years I finally took this course ans so happy I did. I had never operated a motorcycle in my life but by the end of day 2, I learned swerving, swift stops, counter-​steering, and the knowledge to safely ride a motorcycle. I loved that we had a variety of instructors because each brings their own knowledge and personality to the course.
I appreciated the fact that they provided the motorcycle (I am now officially in love with the Suzuki GZ 250) as well as helmets since those are big ticket items that I can’t commit to purchasing at this point. Also, I appreciate the little details as in «please wear layers.» I was easily putting on/​taking off layers as you are inside/​outside throughout the day. I would have been so uncomfortable if I had not know this ahead of time.
I had such a great time and experience that it really makes me want to buy a motorcycle and increase my skill. I’m already wondering what the intermediate class would be like!

So I just finished the 2 day course and learned a lot from my instructors. Jose, Mark, Art and Larry were very helpful especially because I never rode before. If you listen to your instructors you’ll do just fine. I learned a lot and recommend Learn To Ride if you want your license or just take the class for fun. Once again because of these guys I’m more knowledgeable and confident to go out and ride because of them. Most importantly they want you to ride safe and stay safe. Thanks again guys

I am 65 and have never rode a motorcycle before. I always wanted a Harley and never had the opportunity until now. This course was invaluable for me!!! The basics are well taught with an emphasis on safety and technique. The training bikes were quite a bit smaller than my motorcycle, kinda like going from a toothpick to a log. I think our trainer Bob (Mr. Excellent) was quite concerned about me and my choice of bike size. I went out that Sunday afternoon employing what I learned to the best of my ability, practiced and had a great ride that excited me all the more. I could not have done this as successfully without hearing Bob’s voice in my head reiterating all the precautions and technique recommendations (Head Up… look where you are going, look ahead, watch out for trouble, not to get into it but to avoid it.). Never never could I have had that successful first ride without this training. On my Harley in the last two days I have racked up about 100 uneventful miles. Thanks guys you were great! I will see you after 3,000 to 5,000 for the intermediate course. Could not have done this without you. This training course is worth every dollar invested. Highly recommended!!!

Having always wanted to learn to ride a motorcycle, I’m glad I finally signed myself up for the course.
This past weekend was spent entirely with the Learn To Ride VC crew and fellow newbie peers, some of which became friends. I left knowledgable and newly skilled in the safety basics of this new hobby I’m taking on… but don’t worry I’ll be practicing in vacant lots for a while before I brave the roads and traffic.
This safety course is perfect for those with no experience, limited experience, backseat rider experience (me), and Vespa/​scooter experience (me again). Don’t worry if you’re 16 with parents permission or 60+, this is geared to teach everyone. I took the 2 day option but there’s also a 3 day, same amount of time and material covered just time split differently.
LTR VC provides a motorcycle to train on, a full shield helmet, and gloves (if really needed but this selection poor). It is important to have jeans/​pants, a long sleeved shirt/​jacket, ankle or higher boots, riding gloves, and sunglasses for the course. Dress in layers as it could be chilly or blazing hot at the airport in the wide open field.
The classroom section was taught by Mark, a knowledgable yet funny man who made the information stick. You review the safety handbook which they email you upon sign-​up. I read mine before and found it helpful to just use the classroom as review/​ask questions.
The fun part is the actual riding, of course! In addition to Mark, each day he had another instructor with him (different person each day) to assist with skills. They ease you into riding so you don’t even realize it but there you go. Great method for all, especially for anyone nervous.
The last portion of the last day is the skills testing. Nerves were high but it went well. Lastly the course ended with a traffic simulation… which was a wonderful way to use all our new skills while interacting with each other (traffic).
Not only do you learn valuable skills and knowledge, this course allows you to skip the DMV driving test. I’m happy to be a motorcycle endorsed rider thanks to LTR VC.

This was an outstanding learning experience. I had never ridden a motorcycle before and did not have any gear… they provide nearly everything you need (most importantly the bike). Every instructor over the two day class was kind and helpful. I cant imagine getting out on the road with only a learners permit from the DMV. When I went to purchase my first bike two weeks after taking this class I was confident enough to ride it away from the dealership with no problems at all. Besides the incredible learning experience, passing this class makes it so you do not have to do the skills test at the DMV. In fact I was able to show up at the DMV just one time after completing the class to get my Motorcycle endorsement to my license. You do have to retake the written test for your standard Car license before you can take the motorcycle knowledge test, but both of these test can be taken on the same day one right after the other. I will be recommending this class to anyone who wants to learn to ride or needs a touch up on their skill set.

I was looking for a place to refresh my riding skills and I came upon Learn2ride. I was so excited because I didn’t want to drive far to take classes. I went to the website which has all the info you will need to answer your questions. I registered and within a week I took the 2 day/​all day course. My trainers were Mark, James and Jose. They were all great at making you feel comfortable, understanding the class work and feeling good about the range which is where we did the actual riding. I am very impressed with the quality and care they provide and how eager they are to help you ride safely and correctly. If you are a first time rider or anytime rider and just need a refresher this is the place. Our class consisted of men and women, ranging from 20 yrs old to 65 yrs old. Thank you, Mark, James and Jose for making this a wonderful experience.

Great experience with LTR VC. Our class was full at 12 riders over the 4^th of July weekend. As for the staff, everyone was exceptional. I felt comfortable and that made it a lot easier to learn everything. The new Total Control curriculum was well taught and even the more experienced riders found it helpful. Only thing I wish was to have more time riding in the last 4-​way stop scenario and maybe feel a higher speed but that’s not the class’s goal so I was overall very satisfied.
It is a no-​brainer to take a safety course if you’re thinking about riding on two wheels or just want to refresh your skills.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to ride. Even of you have ridden for a while, I would imagine that going back to the basics would be beneficial. I had never ridden a motorcycle before in my life, but wanted to get one for my commute to save money on parking. At the end of the two-​day class, I feel comfortable enough to ride on surface streets (no highway riding for me yet until I get a lot more experience).
Classroom was very informative, not only teaching proper riding techniques and strategies, but the reasons behind them. Instructors were both clear, engaging speakers who obviously loved to ride and wanted to share their experiences. The range riding was fantastic. I went from never sitting on a running bike in my life to competently cruising around the range with my classmates. In two days! The instruction on the range was amazing, and the instructors themselves were patient and extremely helpful.

I cannot say enough good about this school! I took the class a couple weeks ago and it was a lot of fun. I had Corinna, Art, Rory, and one other guy, Cant remember his name but they were all great. They made me feel less nervous about learning to ride, and you could tell they genuinely cared about the safety of the group, There were a few other ladies in the group and none of us had ever been on a bike, but everyone did so well. The bike I had was a good fit, they even had two Harleys out there, the new 500’s. They had waters and refreshments for us. Oh and the bathrooms were really clean! I don’t like using public bathrooms usually, but they were clean, so thank you for that! All in all, a great time and I’ll be contacting them for the intermediate course as soon as I get my Harley 500 — No more being a passenger for this girl!

Awesome course. I learned so much from the instructors. They were all very nice and answered all the questions we had. They made me feel confident about riding a motorcycle and after the course was over I really felt like I knew what I was doing. I highly recommend this course whether you’ve been riding for years or never been on a motorcycle. Thank you Learn to Ride.

I am a 67 year old male who has not ridden a motorcycle in over 30 years. I was concerned that my age might be a problem, but it was not, I fit right in. The class had 12 students ranging from my age to a young man of 17, and included three ladies. Classroom instruction was fun and was interactive. Range instruction was longer than the classroom part, you do a number of drills a number of times and ride about 20 miles in a very controled setting each day, and was very basic, which is what I and the other students needed. I feel I gained alot of knowledge from the classroom and range sessions, and am a safer rider now. The instructors stress safe riding over and over. On the second day in the classroom you must pass a 50 question test, which I was worried about, but if you have paid attention in class it is not a problem. The lead instructor’s name was Mark and he is very good at what he does, as are the other instructors. I feel I got my money’s worth, and then some.

From first phone call, staff was helpful and informative. Very organized and reliable, called me to remind me a few days before class. Instructor was great, personable and knowledgable. He was able to individualize the instruction a little bit to offer more advanced riders and less advanced riders the support they needed. I passed the DMV written test easily after the class. I would recommend them to everyone without worry.

As a first time motorcycle driver, I was really nervous and pretty intimidated on coming to the course. Of course I have been around motorcycles and was a 100% experienced backseat rider (since my BF has 2 bikes) but I have never been solo on a motorcycle myself.
The instructor, Mark (long dark hair. looks like the lead singer of journey) was super welcoming on the first day of class room. In the classroom, you answer questions as a group and watch numerous videos after you cover certain chapters of the handbook. The second half of the day is when your out in the range actually getting motorcycle lessons riding/​driving on an actual bike. Our instructors, Mark, Dwane and Ace were super helpful on the range and provided great feedback to help us be successful and safe drivers out in the real world. Their critique really helped me for the skills test! I appreciated them for making me repeat certain exercises until I got it right because that helped me become more comfortable with repetition.
I would HiGhLY recommended this course for everyone and anyone thinking about possibly wanting their M1 license!
