Specialties
Specializing in house-made pastas and breads. Rustic Italian fare with a new twist.
History
Established in 1999.
Delio Susi, in anticipation of his restaurant’s tenth anniversary, refined both his restaurant’s menu as well as its interior design, to great success. Losing none of his Abruzzi roots, the food is clean but clearly Italian, and a little rustic.
The warm and inviting room makes the same statement. Drawing on his architectural background, Susi plays with simple organic materials, like square slate tiles and tabletops, and brown leather tufted banquettes. The use of brick plus copper fixtures contribute to the Italian country/casual feel that serves food and wine to match. Wooden floors and European style open windows for the summer add to this ambience.
And red lamps that hang in bright contrast with the earthy tones during the day, shed a sexy flattering nighttime glow.
Amelia’s Trattoria offers a personal and authentic dining experience using top local ingredients infused with the heart of its Italian chef.
Meet the Business Owner
Delio S.
Business Owner
Delio Susi, Jr. wears the hat of an engineer as his moniker. But he has the mind of an architect and the heart of an Italian chef. And his appetite, skill, and love of good food have made Amelia’s Trattoria in Cambridge a hidden gem that will celebrate its tenth anniversary in December 2009.
But it’s the Trattoria, which began as an homage to his mother Amelia — who taught him from the heart and from the start — that has become Delio’s passion and an off-the-beaten path destination for good Italian food. As a chef, he is known for his deft hand with gnocchi, creating meltingly lush little pillows, and other handmade pastas, as well as his great skill with meat — and anything he makes with braised short ribs is worth ordering.
