Sadly the store has closed. I am surprised that Kitty did not try to sell her business instead of just closing down. Another cool small business closes. Loss for the community.

Maybe I caught them at a bad time, but the jewelry was so-so, the woman was completely disorganized and odd. She asked me if I needed help as soon as I came in. When people do that, I feel like they want me to buy something or want to buy something asap. I am a jewelry fanatic and have no desire to come back here eventhough it is close to home. I read other posters reviews before writing and I am so shocked that my experience was so different…

I’m a boy; an aversion to jewelry shopping is coded into the male Y chromosome. So why is it I absolutely love coming to this place? It could be the totally amazing woman who runs this teeny little storefront. She makes stories about the world of jewelry sales more riveting than an episode of Lost. I have rarely met someone who was so passionate about their trade, or someone who seemed so genuinely happy about making their customers happy and not able making a sale. Her store is tangibly a labor of love. It might also be that Kitty Haas has one of the most interesting, unique, and eclectic collections of jewelry in Boston. You won’t find any cheapy over-priced garbage here. Boys this is a SAFE shopping experience and a great place get your lady something nice, where you’ll get plenty of personal attention to help you select something that will make your very lady happy(and trick her into thinking you’re a better shopper than you are). Seriously, Boston get your shit together and check this place out!

I have dealt with Kitty for about 25 years buying gifts, and having her source coustom pieces for my wife. She has alway brought me great value, unique ideas and a joyful spirit. I cannot say better.

This place is great. They have a range of jewelry ranging from costumey stuff, gorgeous ambers, moonstone, lots of silver… it’s an eclectic mess of awesome. Their prices range from cheap to moderately expensive, as some pieces are antiques. I’ve seen one or two diamond pieces when I’ve stopped to browse, but not too many. But really, who wants diamonds anyway? It’s a very tiny store, packed to the gills with stuff, so don’t expect to rush in and find something immediately. You should be patient and thorough and no doubt you’ll find something awesome. The owner is a sweetheart. A few years ago a large box of jewelry was stolen from the store, so I really feel like everyone should be going there to buy their unique, fun, classy, jewelry.

I’ve had closets bigger than this store yet they pack a surprising selection of bling into the space. Stock includes gorgeous semi-precious stones/gems: turquoise, moonstone, amethyst, amber etc in simple, elegant sterling silver settings. They also carry some ethnic pieces and higher end jewels opals, emeralds, sapphires and rubies in both gold and silver. The guy who worked here was awesome. He didn’t care if I palmed anything, said«holy shit» more than once in the conversation and gave me a discount for being part«Oriental» and joked that if I was full it would have been bigger. I came out with two lovely pieces that are wearable enough for the everyday yet unique and beautiful for a fair price. I would have liked if they would have cleaned them or included a detarnishing cloth as the silver was starting to grey. But when I got home some toothpaste did the trick.

I visited Kitty Haas recently to see if I could find some nice yet unusual earrings for my upcoming wedding. I already bought a hand-made tiara and necklace, but hadn’t found a pair of earrings yet which I felt fit my style and matched the other jewelry I just bought. I found it at Kitty Haas! The store is in the Porter Exchange Building(with the Gap, Bally’s Fitness, Lesley College, etc.) and is TINY. But the proprietor, a friendly, talkative, helpful Kitty Haas, made it worthwhile. When I walked in, she actually was having trouble with the laptop she just purchased, and being a computer geek and web developer, I helped her with some on-site 10-minute pro-bono work! The jewelry selection is top notch quality, from all over the world — and ranges from amethysts to rainbow moonstones, amber to onyx. I purchased a pair of beautiful rainbow moonstone drop earrings, and I can’t wait to wear them on my special day. Kitty Haas has been in business for over sixty years, and while the store could use some fancying up(difficult given its size) and occasional polishing of the jewelry, I would recommend stopping by to see if she has something which would catch your eye. I would be surprised if she didn’t.
