Once again – nothing but praise for Auto Tec. They are friendly, helpful, knowledgable and willing to go the extra mile to help their customers make the right decision about their cars. Don treats us like family friends, not just a customer.

The «harmonic balancer» (crankshaft pulley) on my 1995 Lexus SC 400 broke after 375,000 miles. I don’t live in the Los Gatos area, so I had to rely on Unilocal,and requested a quote from AutoTec late on a Wednesday.
The next morning at 8 AM, I had a Unilocal message from Don, the owner, requesting my VIN. As soon, as I responded, I received another couple of messages, first to let me know that the part was a special order, but could be there on Friday, along with the parts and labor cost. He also said, he couldn’t work me until Monday, which was disappointing, but I didn’t have much of an alternative, and planned to rent a car for the weekend.
I dropped the car off later that day, and Ricardo checked that it was, in fact, the balancer. I signed my quote and left. The next day about 1 PM, Don called to let me know my car was ready to go! And that it was going to be $ 120 less than they quoted, as it took less labor time.
When I picked up the car, Don showed me some pictures of some damage caused by the broken balancer. Fortunately, it wasn’t a problem (a small piece of plastic housing was missing, and some nearby metal was ground down).
I drove the car home from Los Gatos last night (about 110 miles), and it ran perfectly at 85 MPH on I-​280.
Don is straightforward and easy to deal with. If I break down in Los Gatos again (I’m there each week), Auto Tec is where I’ll go. Highly recommended.

tl;dr — Honest, Friendly, Prompt.
My dealership had recommended replacing both front and rear brakes as well as changing the brake fluid. I requested a quote from Auto Tec directly from Unilocal.Don responded back within minutes, asked for some more info and my email and promptly sent me the quote. Upon visiting their shop he asked if I wanted them to do an inspection as well (the fees of which would be waived off if any service was actually needed) to verify if all services were really needed. He called me later informing me that only the rear brakes needed replacement and everything else could wait! That was a pleasant surprise — where everyone tries to upsell services here’s a shop that actually said services I myself had requested were not needed. I also requested a pickup later which he arranged for — and the conversation with Jeff who picked me up was fun all the way.
The staff is friendly, honest, prompt in their responses and I’m sure the work is top notch too. Having just moved into the neighborhood I’m glad I found Auto Tec. Needless to say I will keep coming back to them for all my car needs.

Had a really good experience with these guys. Came here because I thought a part of the bottom of my car was coming off. They gave me a fair assessment, explained to me what the problem was and told me it wasn’t necessary to replace any parts anytime soon. Gave me a good fix and prices were lower than I expected and didn’t take long at all. Seem like trustworthy guys. Would recommend. The door is confusingly marked, but if you go in the wrong one, someone will tell you.

Don and his team are awesome. My co-​worker had recommended me to them since he had some things done on his Forrester a couple of weeks back. I had inquired about the 30K Service for my WRX and Don sent me back a very detailed quote and even provided additional information about the parts they use. I was in and out within an hour and a half and enjoyed some cool conversations with Don while waiting. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend him and the team to anyone who’s looking for top notch quality service.

Auto Tec is, hands down, the best auto repair shop I’ve gone to.
Took my Mazda 3 a month ago and my car is running as good as new so thought its time to give my two cents about this place.
First of all, I have to say Don is the best! He is not only super kind and reliable, he is also professional. When I first asked for a quote for a 90k maintenance for my Mazda, he sent me a pdf with all the prices clearly outlined which I greatly appreciated because many other auto mechanic places usually do not provide a detailed quote like Don did.
Shortly after my 90k maintenance, I took my car to Auto Tec once again but this time for my brakes. Although Auto Tec couldn’t completely fix the issue, they made sure the brake system is working properly as well as providing a test drive while Don explained and educated me about the brake system.
Overall, if you are looking for an auto repair shop that is trustworthy, provides good service with decent pricing, I highly recommend Auto Tec. I know I’ll be coming back here for all my auto needs.

Definitely a trust worthy place. They never try to get more than needed out of you like most places. Don is great, he really cares about people and makes sure they get top notch service. This is the place to go.

I came to these guys to do an inspection on a private sale car purchase before buying. They were really informative, thorough, professional, and made me aware of everything. Never made me feel like they were to busy to explain things in simple terms etc. something beyond just good service. An attitude. A tone. A vibe etc etc.
Even though these guys are not very close to where I live I still come to them for everything because they earned my trust, and my faith in their business and their capabilities to get things done right only grew further as more services and work has been done on my vehicle (05 4Runner). I won’t let anyone touch my car with a wrench unless they work for this shop at this point. I guess they’ve earned a loyal customer, and earned their considerable high ratings all this time.
I’m tankful for this shop.

Great crew, would recommend them to anyone. When dealing with auto repair, honesty is very important. I’ve had my Acura here in the past and recently my Prius, and will continue to use them. Highly recommended.

I have a 2013 Prius, and I have been looking for a good place to get my car serviced and repaired when need be. My search is over. Auto Tec is a great shop! I needed a front brake job on my car after calling several places, and talking to Don at auto Tec I knew this was the place I would try.
Don is a standup guy, and not just because he didn’t have a chair. Seriously his understanding of the vehicle, knowing what needed to be done and giving a fair and accurate estimate is second to none.
I arrived at the designated time my car was taken in quickly and the service was perfect! The price exactly as quoted. While waiting for my car I got to see how other customers were being handled. Everyone was being treated with respect and having everything explained in detail. Not only did the shop explain what work was necessary, but also what was not needed and what to keep an eye on.
Trust and respect are earned. These guys earned both as well as my 5 stars.

I have been taking my cars here for 3 years (a mazda cx9, an audi a3). I take them here for everything, even simple oil changes/​tire rotations. Don is awesome, and every time I bring the car in, he gives it a good checkup. He’s also very honest and won’t push you to replace things if they are not needed (happened with the brakes a few times).
The shop is clean, they do a good work and at a good price.

Called shortly after opening, he said I could bring the car by and he would take a look as soon as they could. Ran two electrical tests and was out in less then 30. Good shop, will deffiently go back if something else comes up.

Honest folks. Initially talked to someone Friday about my issue and scheduled an appointment for Monday. Ended up dropping my car off Sunday and leaving my eyes in the drop box. Had some transmission issues and saw the reviews at this place to see if they can help out.
Called Monday to see if there was anything wrong. They were able to replicate the issue but not repair it. I told them since I was carless I had a hard time getting back there. The guy offered to pick me up but I declined since I eventually got a ride there.
Since they could not fix my issue there was no charge. I would come back again when I do have car issues again.

Had a radiator blown over the weekend. Dropped off the car, dropped the key in the door hole.
Called and talked on Monday. The car was fixed the same day.

Let’s be honest — the vast majority of us are not automotive experts. All we care about at the end of the day is the problem is fixed in a reasonable amount of time at a fair price, and being kept updated during the process.
Don made an immediate impression when I called to describe the problem my car is having and to schedule my appointment. He was friendly and took the time to fully understand my concerns. He made sure a technician came with me on a test drive to make sure they fully understood the problem I was experiencing when I dropped off my car. The promised phone call updates came when it was promised and I was kept informed of the progress of the work. Work was complete on time and within estimate I was given.
My experience with AutoTec has been nothing short of excellent. Don and Auto Tec has earned my future business.

Granted, I didn’t have anything major happening that required a whole lot.
However, that being said… every bit of my experience with Auto Tec was great.

I will definitely return! They were both incredibly friendly and down-​to-​earth and I never once felt like I was being left out of an issue or conversation — which is important to me since I don’t want to get ripped off.

Don is the man. He is an honest and fair guy who will make sure you are happy and satisfied.
