First of all I want to add that the business name should read John’s Automotive Repairs & Body Shop.
I should have written this review two years ago. Not sure why I waited so long. About two years ago I took my Acura Legend to the Acura dealership where they gave me a quote on repairs totalling over $ 5,000. Yep I should have gotten a clue then to get another car, but I was really attached to my 94 Acura Legend. Beautiful car. ok most expensive had to do with the engine. Well, I decided to shop around and see if I could get a better deal and of course this is where John’s Automotive on Curtner (JAC) comes in. Do not confuse him with John’s Automotive on Bascom. The owner of JAC who is not named John quoted me $ 3,000 for all repairs. Wow this sounded too good to be true… it was!
After I dropped my car off he said it would be a few days… a few days passed and it wasn’t ready… one week passed… still needed more time… said something about having to send my engine out to repair the engine rings which he couldn’t do in this shop. Ok fast forward to three weeks later… yes you heard me right, three weeks later my car is finally finished. Or so I thought!
My car was smoking worse then when I first dropped it off. The squeak which he said was a bad strut on the right side was still there. I took it back and he tells me it’s smoking because of the work they did on the engine and that it should burn off. Ok what do I know about cars. I took his word for it after all he is the professional right??? Well it did get better, but only marginally, my car was still smoking black smoke and it failed the smog test. This story is so horrible… I have to laugh.
This story is true. I still have the paperwork to prove it. Considering my experience I wouldn’t trust my car to him for an oil change, much less repairs. I would not recommend his services to anyone. Did I just get unlucky. I think not. I guess the saying if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Well in this case it was. I learned a really expenseive lesson. Had I been a man would he have taken advantage. Well, I’ll never know. A true auto mechanic professional should have told me if they couldn’t do the job. Maybe he just needed the money really bad. I’ll never know that either. Has he done good mechanic jobs… well probably for some reason he’s still in business. Nonetheless based on my very expensive and frustrating experience I would not recommend John’s Automotive of Curtner.

This is not a review. This is an update. While the name John’s Automotive is still up on one of the signs, as of 2007/​2008, this business was sold and the original owner no longer resides here.
Again…NOT A REVIEW. I’m putting one star only because I don’t want to skew the current rating!

1^st off, this character is about a rocks throw from my house; hence, I am within walking distance.
I was screwed by this guy twice.
1^st time. I had a after market muffler. He said it took ~ 2 hours to diagnose the issue. He said a weld broke, and he fixed it. make a long story short, it was not the weld, but the inner part of the muffler that was broken. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I had a bad radiator. Called around and it was ~ 500 at most places. Well, Johns was under 400. Sounded like a deal. Uh, no.
I only had the radiator for 1 year. Took it to Jiffy lube across the street. low and behold, nothing but SLUDGE in my radiator. Unacceptable. He should be out of business
