This is a fine place for the fancy rolls drowned in chili sauce, eel sauce, etc., if you like that sort of thing. The spicy tuna roll and the house hand roll were spicy, salty and pretty tasty. But I wouldn’t recommend this place for actual sushi. I ordered a three-piece sushi meal and made the mistake of eating what looked like red snapper or maybe halibut. It was slimy, bitter and fishy, with an almost moldy aroma. I told the wait staff that the fish tasted spoiled and asked for the check. They were very quick and kind in dealing with it and gave me a discount on my bill. But they told me that the fish was tilapia — a very cheap, bottom-feeding fish often farmed in China that is just not supposed to be used for sushi. I’m a huge sushi fan. I can appreciate both the simple and purist sushi and the crazy, fried, jalapeño-studded stuff. But I’ve never even heard of anyone using tilapia, and there’s a very good reason why. I’m not bashing the place, as the service was fine and the rest of the food was alright. If not for the tilapia, I’d give it a solid 3 stars. I’m just really confused as to where they got the idea to serve tilapia sushi, and why they thought that’d be cool.

Great Sushi. My personal favorites are the Spicy Baked Tuna and Tempura Crunch roll. I usually take it to go, I’ve only ever had one incident where they forgot to give me the sauce that goes with the tempura, making it less enjoyable, but it was an honest mistake I’m sure. In the few time of dined in, I have been pleased. The waiters are very sweet and attentive– they stop by the tables often to make sure everything is all right, I also love the apples and peanut butter they bring you with check– very cute! The only complaints I have are that they are a little bit overpriced and don’t have forks readily available to eat with. Since I have a weird phobia of unfinished wood, holding chopsticks gives me goosebumps and makes me cringe, but I can look past it since it’s not really their fault. Great food, great service and cute interior. 5⁄5

This is our standard go to sushi place and the food is always great — but today the service was terrible. They had two new waitresses who messes up everyone’s orders, barely understood directions and were generally pretty useless. Until the manager guy showed up and literally took over the restaurant fixing everyone’s orders. He comped the two items the waiters forgot and was very pleasant and courteous. Also — the bathrooms don’t have paper towels. The place has been going down hill for a while — I hope they don’t fold on account of bad management and lax staff.

Decided to give this place a try. Man this place is awesome. A little pricy but so worth it! Usually just order handrolls and these handrolls have been the best I’ve tried in SCV

Sushi is great. I’m a regular at this place. Service is somewhat good… sometimes they’ll make you wait 20 – 40 mins for your food and that’s after you have waited 45mins — 1 hour just to be seated. It’s worth the wait.

Cane here for my anniversary. Hadn’t been here in over 5 years, but it was great. The service and food. We are so used to the crappy AYCE places, that this was refreshing

This location is a lot better than the Newhall one. The portions are decent and quality of fish is pretty good. Average prices. Definitely need to hire more wait staff because the ones they have now are young and constantly flustered. I dislike that they charge extra for sauce though. I understand if you need a TON but just one extra? Really?

Always great sushi! Helped me cater a party, provide assistance in selecting the appropriate amount of food and helping decide on options for people who prefer baked/tempura rolls. Even threw in some delicious appitizers. Wonderful experience.

recently went back for lunch with my sister. we were both very weary as the last time we came we had an awful experience. I don’t know what the sushi chef’s name is but he’s definitely a veteran as i’ve seen him there for years, and of course he did not disappoint. he was quick and everything tasted wonderfully. i wish i could recall the chef’s name who ruined our experience there… but i am very happy that my sister and i gave love sushi another shot. i just hope that the next time we stop by we don’t have the other guy as our sushi chef. also, the wait staff is usually not that attentive, but this time they were on point the entire time.

Just got done eating my salmon hand skin rolls and some calamari tempura roll. The hand roll wasn’t what I was wanting and expected. The salmon skins weren’t crispy and they put too much rice. Now, the calamari tempura rolls were better. The place is nice though, good music and they have beer and wine. Cool little spot to enjoy some sushi and beer.

We have been going to Love Sushi for over 10 years. Always fresh, always a wait but always worth it. Staff is always rotating but the chefs are always the same. We spend the same amount as the all you eat spot across the street but there’s no comparison. Id rather less rice and more fish anyways. 5 Stars Love Sushi.

So I wanted to buy a gift certificate for my friends who just had a baby and«love» this place. Although my friend took me there once and I wouldn’t recommend it. It certainly is in no way authentic sushi, and many of their options are fried or drowned in sauce, which shows how poor the quality of their sushi is. But I live in West L.A., and there’s no way I’m driving out to Canyon Country to pick it up. So I ask the person on the phone if they can mail it to me. The guy on the phone doesn’t even have the discretion to cover up the mouthpiece when he tells his manager that this«mother-f**ker» on the phone is asking if they can mail a gift certificate. Really!!! Was that such an outrageous request? Needless to say, I didn’t wait for the answer. Come here if you like bad sushi and bad customer service. This place just lost $ 100!

It took 20 mins to place a simple to go order in over the phone because the woman who answered barely spoke English. So needless to say our order was completely wrong and part of it was missing!!! Will not be returning! Poor service Even poor“er” food!!!

The sushi was average, however, the waiters were great. We usually visit love sushi on Lyons, but we decided to give this one a shot due to its close proximity to our home. Fire roll, spicy tuna tempura, and dragon roll were good; however, the Valencia roll was terrible. I won’t recommend the place just yet… will give it another shot.

Awesome sushi. Awesome place. Reasonable prices. Will be coming here more often. Asked the chef to hook me up with some sashimi and went the extra mile. Check out my picture I posted. Come Unilocal stop telling me my review is short.

Sushi is my favorite and this place truly didn’t live up to my craving. I came with my cousins and I didn’t think a simple thing was appetizing. The miso soup tastes like it was sitting at the bottom of the pot. All our sushi looked messy and thrown together, even though it took forever to come out. We even ordered Bulgogi, which didn’t come out until long after we had finished and it was completely tasteless. Overall, this place was not appetizing to me, even the place itself is not aesthetically pleasing.

Service is slow every time. I’ve been to a place 4x more packed than theirs is(on their busiest night) and manage to get in and out in half the time. Sushi quality is excellent. The one time I’ve ordered takeout(medium sushi plate) they cut the sashimi pieces in half length wise and they were thinner than if I’d dined in(they reduced the portion by more than half on a 20 dollar plate). Imagine paying 20 bucks and getting less than half what you paid for. I consider this theft. I shall get the money back from them by stiffing them in tips in the future.

This is the first sushi place I was at without my fiancé so I guess that’s why it wasn’t that great just kidding, once again they don’t have pink lemonade BUT I had a new roll I’ve never had the Hawaiian crunch roll delicious. We waited a little while to get our food but it was a friendly atmosphere & clean. Definitely would go there again.

When it comes to sushi, it is either good, or it’s not. It’s hard to mess up a spicy tuna roll — I had mine in soy paper and it was fine. A generous amount of tuna, though, no fresh cucumber inside the roll. That’s a staple in a spicy tuna roll in my opinion. I ordered two pieces of salmon sushi. The bloodline was still attached — usually a sign of incompetence or the owners trying to add weight to their product and not have so much waste. As Alton Brown would say, not good eats. I know Bento style dinner is usually a no no in sushi joints, but I had an inkling for a nice piece of grilled salmon. Bad mistake. I’m certain they microwaved the fish, bloodline still attached, and all. The sauce for the salmon and the dressings or the salad both came straight out of a processed bottle from Sysco, and the soup was not hot. Cleanliness and maintaining a sanitary establishment were not high priorities here. The server was helpful enough and took my salmon plate off the check. Sushi chef’s were efficient and kind. In short, this is not one of the few sushi places I have been to that are good. They are well below mediocre and I will not be returning.
