Best Western Plus Capitola By-The-Sea Inn & Suites

This place was clean, friendly staff, nice pool and hot tub, lots of towels in the room, good selection at breakfast — we had no complaints! We really enjoyed our stay and will stay here again when we come into town!

This is a nice place to stay, although a good little walk into town we found this place perfect on a recent stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK, we went down the street to the many coffee shops for breakfast.

They make a real effort to keep the place nice. It is upgraded regularly, the rooms are clean and well appointed. Good location, walking distance to restaurants, etc. The staff is very nice and never fail to treat us well. Very professional and well run property. We recommend them, if you are looking for a clean good place to stay that is not to expensive.

Just spent 4 days and 3 nights in Capitola for our vacation and booked our rooms with this hotel again. The best customer service ever. They’ve recently remodeled and the place is in excellent condition. Steve helped me to book the rooms over the phone and was able to give us a good deal on a King size bed with whirlpool room. These rooms are on the first floor and I usually like to have a room on the third floor to rule out the noise factor, but I was pleasantly surprised. We were also on the side that is closest to the mall garbage cans and delivery area. If you don’t want to contend with those noises ask for a different room. Cristina was there when we checked in and was very helpful when our room keys didn’t work initially. Blake is there on the morning shift and spent time talking with my husband about sports, especially the Warriors! Got a very restful sleep and was a perfect home base for all of our adventures during the day. I highly recommend this hotel!

It wasn’t the best experience I had when I stayed at this Best Western.
They had loud construction, noisy neighbor upstairs, and dogs in the hotel!
The construction around this property was really loud. When I was about to check-​in, I knew that it wasn’t going to be pretty. It woke me up in the morning because it was hella loud.
Also, during nighttime, the upstairs neighbor was noisy… It’s like sasquatch lived up there! You could literally hear every step with a boom.
Finally, there were dogs in the hotel. If you see dogs in your hotel, assume that dogs have been in your sheets.
Stay away from this Best Western!

Had a great visit at this Hotel this week. Wished we would have stayed longer. All of the staff was extremely friendly. The room was very clean and well appointed. Loved how close we were to everything, This was our 1^st time in Capitola, but will make it a point to come out much more often and I would not pick any other place to stay but here. Thank you!

In town for our son’s wedding. This place is affordable, clean and has very friendly service. They are a great find in Capitola.

This hotel is Our fave Go to Hotel! Very convenient location, it has everything around it that we want.
First of all Capitola is Great in the summer time, it has a beach and cute restaurants by the beach.
Then the hotel we stay at, has a movie theatre next door, little shops, eateries, and also a wonderful foot massage place we love. Also a shopping mall nearby!
This hotel is hard to get and also pricey on certain times so you gotta check.
It’s best to go on a non holiday no events time which is hard. Totally recommend !

Stayed the weekend of Nov 20 of this year. After a long tedious drive from northern California, we arrived very late at night. No problem, our room was ready. Rooms are nice, clean, spacious with mini fridges. Lights have the auto set option, which we loved. The staff was awesome and the hotel offered a very good continental breakfast with a cozy dining room. The reasons for the 3 stars only: the beds and pillows were like sleeping on marshmallows, no support at all, we tossed and turned all night, woke up with body aches & headaches. The other reason is our room faced the alley behind the mini mall, way too much noise from trucks making early morning deliveries, and general traffic from 41^st street.

All I can say is wow. This place is clean, clean, clean. Room is very comfortable. I fell into the mattress and slept like a baby. Blake, your man up front is cheerful, and personable. Plenty of off street parking. Affordable… Definitely much better than anything I have experienced while traveling in the past. We needed a place to stay for a couple days while our house was treated for termites. I don’t want to go back home.

I give it a 4 Bc of location. Close to everything I love. The mall, the beach, the mountains, shopping shopping shopping and food places. It’s also in the center of where I need to be for work. I’m minutes away from the Majority of my work sites in any direction.
For it weren’t for the location I’d probably give it a 3 maybe a 2 only because for some reason my doorway smells like pee and my room carpet feels kinda sticky on my feet. The carpets are pretty worn and stained throughout the facility. One bed in my room has like an old oil stain on it which is prob clean but still looks dirty. Furniture is pretty dated too. I wish there was an office chair in my room. I’m having trouble doing work in like a sitting chair I have to drag from the wall to the front of the desk. Just not an ideal working situation.
Also I’m In a room right outside the housekeeping laundry facility and so the hallway is very loud and crowded with housekeeping carts all along the wall. In the mornings I can hear the housekeeping outside in the halls as if they were in my room. Walls are thin or they are just super loud.
So with all that said I’d still stay here only Bc of its location. Maybe next time I’ll ask to be in the opposite side of the hotel in an upgraded room and see how that goes.

I was in the area and decided to crash here for the night to go biking in the morning and my stay here was perfect! Literally down the street from the beach, staff provided excellent customer service, room was very clean and very spacious with a king size bed and comfortable sheets, bike friendly, and provided oatmeal, eggs, and Seattle’s best coffee for breakfast! Definitely will be staying here again!

This hotel was a great choice, although the choices were somewhat limited in Capitola and Santa Cruz. We reserved a king suite for 250 clams a night over the Labor Day weekend, and we couldn’t have asked for a better location. We strolled to Capitola Village for the beach and restaurants and the Begonia Festival a couple times a day, no problem. There is a Whole Foods a couple blocks away from the hotel, a SaveMart supermarket next door (use the stone path through the bushes as a shortcut!), as well as a plethora of eateries within walking distance.
Our suite had a king bed, two bedside tables, sitting chair, and a chaise in one «room», and the other contained a sofa bed, coffee table, side table, desk, chair, and refrigerator and microwave. On top of that, there was a sink, as well as a closet next to the room door. The bathroom was a full bath and had another sink.
The swimming pool was great and there is a small jacuzzi and several lounge chairs, and two tables with chairs. It is open 10 am to 10 pm. The staff is nice about offering extra towels (as well as for chit chat).
So… We were in room 127. We had a noise machine and didn’t mind the room location too much, but be forewarned that it is directly across from the pool (guests were very respectful of quiet hours though), next door to the guest laundry facility, and across the hall from the stairs and one of the exits. We didn’t hear any noise from the guest next door, but there was some MAJOR thumping coming from upstairs. The pipes and appliances also contributed their fair share to the cacophony. So… Really enjoyed the hotel, liked the layout of the suite, but I would not recommend room 127 for light sleepers!

Great location. Great value. One mile walk to pleasure point. Lots of shopping nearby with the mall one direction and little shops the other way. A few coffee shops close too. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was just enough to get the day started and tied you over until lunch. All of the staff was super friendly.

Wow! We love this place! Just had the perfect weekend here! In town for our daughters softball tournament in Soquel and baby’s 2^nd bday at Capitola Beach. Had a two room suite with 2 queens, 1 king, 1 crib, and a queen pullout bed. 1.5 bathroom and a whirlpool tub. Mini fridge, coffee pot, and Micro in the suite. Oh let’s not forget 4 sinks! Awesome place and space for our family of 7! 5 kids and 2 adults fit perfectly! Oh the mall, SaveMart, Whole Foods, Movie Theater, and much more in walking distance. This is a perfect location. This place is clean! We all enjoyed the breakfast before we headed to softball and the beach. We also used the heated pool and spa which was clean and warm. Can’t wait to come back!

I just stayed over one night with my son and we had such a nice time. The hotel is super clean and the bed was really comfortable. When we checked in, Blake at the front desk made us feel so welcome and was super helpful. Really nice to get chocolate chip cookies when you get there! Pool was heated, and there is also a jacuzzi. The hotel is about a 6 minute or so drive to Capitola Village, which is so cute. We never had any problem with noise or with anything. We will definitely be staying there again.

The staff was very helpful booking the room. They go the extra mile if you are a repeat visitor. My family stayed in a Fireplace Mini-​Suite for President’s Day weekend. The room was clean and spacious. The controls for the gas fireplace were a little tricky, but once we got it going it made the room warmer and cozier. The room came with a huge flatscreen T.V. offering plenty of Cable T.V. channels. The WiFi was smooth.
The complimentary breakfast was simple but presented well. The staff were very attentive to refilling items. My wife and kids loved the waffle makers, cereal, baked goods, and fresh fruit. I enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches. Juice, coffee, water, tea, and hot cocoa were also available.
The hotel is 5 minutes from the beach. The 12:00pm check-​out time gave us the freedom to spend several hours at the beach in the morning then come back for a swim and showers. The pool is small, clean, and well heated. It’s 3 feet deep on the shallow end and 5 feet deep on the deep end. My kids loved it. Pool towels are available at the front desk.
The Best Western is a great value for families, situated in a really stellar location. Capitola is so much better than Santa Cruz.

Blake is the star of this facility. He is so kind and genuine. He made our stay delightful. The 3^rd floor would be best. On the 2^nd floor we could hear lots of pounding above us. The room was clean and fresh. It was great with our daughter, we could watch TV in the living room and she slept in the bedroom. There was a microwave, fridge. Breakfast is great, with breakfast sandwiches, eggs, yogurt, waffles, oatmeal, fruit. Definitely not a chintzy cereal breakfast. The pool is crystal clear salt water. I would absolutely stay here again, it was fantastic!

Fresh in every way… good bed… spacious room.
Breakfast included. Very secure. Good landscaping. Everything I wanted was there.
