History

Established in 1990.

Licensed since 1990 has allowed me generations of exposure to water proofing challenges. Exposure to many companies and high level building projects has provided a complete rounded view of what properties face and staying in front of potential disasters. Settling in the Santa Cruz County, where I was born, has allowed me to bring home the professional services of which has been developed at high levels in the Industry. Now we are here to focus on OUR community and establish ourselves as the première choice of roofing and building services in the (831) area.

You get out of life what you put into it! INTEGRITY is who I am and you will learn this right away with me. I take all of my goals and hobbies seriously and train hard for both. A successful Business is a reflection of who we are as a character in my personal life! I have a love of my life, Lisa, and am a father of 2 brilliant children, Son– Addison (a local Tattoo artist) and Daughter– Ashley (an undergrad from UCSC in Bio-​Nano technology). Surfing is foremost my passion but Rock Climbing fills the gaps where no swells are present. I love the art of staying present in crises situations, whether in 15ft plus surf or 400 ft on a vertical wall. At one point not too long ago I played competitive golf and worked as a Head Coach in sports Psychology. I take everything I choose to do very seriously and will not lie, cheat or manipulate my way through life to move ahead.

All we can take to our grave is our Honor and Integrity and reputation.

I recently had an attic fan replaced and needed the surrounding area checked and sealed. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and helpful. Don came out within a day or two of my call. He checked the entire roof, reported on it’s condition and gave me what I feel is a fair price for the repair. The repair was done promptly and Don kept in email contact with me throughout the process. I will definitely use their services again!

This is a high service organization and very customer oriented. We contacted H2o for help with a leak in an outdoor space during the peak time of the rainy season; no one else would even answer their phone, or else told us to call back next summer. Donald came out very quickly to assess the situation. His men came out promptly and did the work required at the agreed upon price, which we thought we very fair. Since then, we had them do come chimney work which was also excellent. In both cases, their crew was profession and competent. Donald was responsive and reachable. I highly recommend them and will use them again in the future as needed.

H2o was exceptional. They work cleanly and efficiently and they’re all good guys. After the first day I knew I was in good hands, they were all business. I also knew the job would cost more after seeing dry rot, etc… but knowing I had contractors who knew what they were doing helped take the sting out of what I believed would be a higher job total. The job was done to perfection, so difficult to find in our world today. So again, thank you very much, Don.

We were impressed with all aspects of the work from getting the quote, to paying for it, and getting the roof done in a timely fashion between rain storms. I want to enthusiastically and unconditionally recommend Don and H2oProofing’s work! I am the original owner of a 29-​year old home that had a complicated concrete tile roof. We have been having water leakage problems of varying degrees for many years, and I’ve hired multiple roofers to try to fix the problems with no success.
When I had Don out to give a quote, he immediately impressed me with his experience, problem-​solving abilities, and dedication to correcting the underlying problems. He talked in clear terms about repair vs. re-​roof (both benefits and costs) and I felt comfortable extending the discussion to consider changing from concrete tile to composite shingles. Throughout the planning process, Don answered all my questions and I felt very comfortable that he and his team were fully capable of implementing whatever I wanted to do. Ultimately, I decided to go with a fancy shingle, anticipating that I might get solar in the future.
The team started out immediately after Labor Day. They did a fantastic job pulling the old roof, doing so with great care around the house and leaving our worksite very clean every evening. With the roof off, there was some fairly extensive dry rot due to the original design. The replacement carpentry work, quite complex because of our roof shape, was done expertly. The new shingles looked fantastic (I had been very concerned about the change in appearance, but it looks better than the tile!). They finished up with extensive trim painting which looks great, and new gutters with leaf shields.
Throughout the process Don was always readily available. If I had questions about something that was going on, I always got quick response. His team was dedicated to doing quality work as well.
Since the job was completed, we experienced a good amount of rain this year, and there hasn’t been a drip or water problem, old or new anywhere in the entire house. My top goal was to find somebody who would do what it takes to get it right the first time, and I was lucky that Don and his team made that happen. I recommend H2o Proofing without reservation, for an A+ roofing job.

We’d been putting off fixing a leak on one of the faces of our roof. In anticipation of this year’s El Nino, we decided to be proactive. We called various roofers and H2O gave us the best quote.
Don came over as soon as he was able, to assess the roof’s condition, and got his crew over within a week — they only work when it’s dry.
The work was completed in 2 ¼ days by the crew and was performed thoroughly. Needless to say, the leaks are gone and our peace of mind is here to stay.
Tip: Reach out to Don as soon as you can, he is very busy (as are all roofers, in this season).

We had the company give us a quote to repair some major dry rot damage and a complicated roof ventilation system on a house we were planning to purchase. Their initial inspection helped us to document the needed repairs as we worked with the seller on the price. After the close, they installed a great solution. Throughout the project they sent photos to keep us up to date with the progress. We were delighted that the same company could coordinate all of the work that needed to be performed; and, they even installed the rain barrels we had picked up at Costco to work with our new gutters. It is hard to express the sense of relief we feel in knowing that we are prepared for the rain!

I will recommend anyone looking for roofing related services to use Don and his company H2O Proofing. I do not recommend people easily and Don has certainly earned the recommendation due to his outstanding service as well as quality of work.
1– Expert knowledge and solution oriented approach– when replacing the roof for my Santa Cruz House I selected H2O proofing after obtaining multiple bids. I went with Don because he took time to understand my needs and explained options and their impact on the longevity of the roof. There was no high pressure sales pitch, but a thoughtful conversation around solutions for my need.
2– Easy to work with during the project– Don kept me well informed of project time line and necessary adjustments due to unforeseen circumstances (weather). Informed me of the progress on regular basis and uploaded pictures to share on Dropbox. Communicated for need in change order promptly as they discovered dry rot on the roof during the work.
3– Follow up after the project completion– After the installation was complete, Don followed up to check in and see if the job was done to my satisfaction. He was happy to take care of any small matters I brought to his attention.

Our garage needed a new roof. Three layers of old roofing had to be removed and almost half the rafter tails had to be repaired due to termite damage before the new roof and gutters could be installed. Don and his crew were knowledgeable, efficient and professional. The clean-​up was excellent. All around a great experience. Highly recommended!

Don Cox and his crew replaced our large roof and all of the skylights without any issues whatsoever. He is very communicative and explained all of the reasons behind his suggestions to us, and respectfully listened to make sure that the final product is exactly what we wanted.
Our complex project required Don to work with our contractor and architect, which he did extremely well, often offering suggestions to those professionals, who obviously respected his opinion.
His crew were on time, worked well and cleanly. When access to our small street was blocked by the truck delivering roofing materials, Don sent an email to the neighbors explaining the situation and making sure there were no issues going forth. He even called the utility company when the garbage truck collapsed our service box on the street, going above and beyond what was necessary. At least none of the neighbors had to deal with it, and Don made sure the potential car damaging obstacle was well identified and roped off before anyone had an issue.
I have no reservation about recommending Don Cox and H2O Proofing Services.

A couple of weeks ago Don and his crew installed a new roof for us and replaced an old bubble skylight with a UV-​filtering glass one. The roof and skylight look amazing. My husband and I are very pleased. The men worked really hard, completing the project in the time frame Don had promised. I appreciated that Jaime, the foreman, speaks excellent English, so communication was never a problem.
The reason we chose Don in the first place is that he offered creative solutions to a couple of problem areas where the main roof joins the roof over our back deck and adjoining outbuilding. Both solutions look good (Don provided a bunch of photographs of the completed roof for us) – we’re waiting for the next rain so that we can witness whether Don managed to fully address the issues. I’ll update my review then – fingers crossed!

So it finally rained last week and then our roof started leaking. We looked around and gave Don a call. He was able to come out that day and provide us with a quote and time to get the roof repaired. Fast forward to the workday. The crew arrived on time and ready to go. Totally professional and good guys. They did the work and informed us of options and issues along the way.
The roof is repaired and ready to go. Don sent along photos of before during and after repair with is great.
Cant say enough good stuff out our experience with H2o!

Sometimes the true value and quality of a contractor is measured by how problems are addressed. And every once in awhile, for any company, anything that could go wrong does go wrong. From weather delays, to material nuances, to unexpected site conditions to you name it. It all happened on my house. Don Cox was wonderful every step of the way. He kept me informed of problems but more importantly solutions. He was more than fair. He met important deadlines and jumped through many hoops to do so. I would not hesitate to use H2O Proofing services again and recommend him highly for his integrity, professionalism, and knowledge.

Don told me my attic space would be cooler once the new roofing materials I picked out were installed by him… Honestly, I did not believe him…” it’s the the ‘ol sales pitch”, I was thinking… Well…just the other day, I went up in the attic (we use it for storage) …and it was not a sweat box… but a very cool feeling up there !!! We needed a very old solar panel removed from our roof that was causing leaks in our home. Don and his crew removed the solar panel and fixed the roof, as well as repaired the damage the leak had made inside the house. Everything was done in less than a day and the work all looks great. They cleaned everything up and even cleaned out our gutters, re-​nailed all the vent flashings and painted all exposed metal (which wasn’t in the proposal and at no extra charge!).
I would definitely call them again if we need any additional repairs.

I had a leak in my roof and chimney cap.
I was extremely impressed with the service provided by Don and his company. The quote beat out the competitors and the work was done in a timely fashion. There were additional problems identified that were missed by other companies only because of the thoroughness of the evaluation. Don did not stop working until the project was complete and was respectful of my house and my neighbors.
I highly recommend Don and H20 Proofing services. Should I ever have problems with a leaky roof or chimney again, I will call H20 Proofing immediately without reservation.
