Our commercial service department is always prepared to respond to emergencies and can replace broken plate glass or repair all types of storefront doors and windows.

History

Established in 1982.

Tommy’s Glass Service Inc. is still in its original location in heart of Salinas. This Glass shop has been serving the greater central coast for over 60 years. Many of our customers are the grand children of clients that have been coming to this location for their glass needs since the 1950’s.

Tommy’s Glass was founded by Tommy and his wife Wilma. They purchased the business from the previous owner that retired due to his failing health. Tommy a long time resident of Salinas had been in the glass business for many years working at another local glass company. He made great sacrifices to acquire this well established business and continue the valued service to this community.

Tommy and Wilma and their three children with the help of their friendly staff built the old company into a successful and respected local business. The youngest member of the family Lisa spent her summers working in the office and after she graduated from college worked full time running the office.

Tommy’s Glass Service provides excellent work, responsive customer service and fair pricing. The owner, Robert, is a skilled craftsman in addition to being personable and smart. His crew is equally talented, and have demonstrated that many times from repairing closet doors, to custom work in our bathroom, to installation of double-​hung windows throughout our home. We would never dream of using any other glass service. The new message though is that they also are humanitarians, who believe that going the extra mile to help someone in need is the right thing to do, with little regard for how much money they might collect. This was demonstrated to me just today (on a Saturday), with the happy result that an ill person is now safer and more comfortable, and Tommy’s Glass Service now has two committed future customers. Thank you, Robert.

After receiving and accepting a quote on 10÷8÷15 I waited 2 mos for the windows to be installed. Job completed on 12÷9÷15.
This was after phone and emails asking what is taking so long and if they were not interested in doing the job please let me know so I can find someone who actually wanted to do the job.
The owner, Robert Haas, of Tommy’s Glass gave me a quote, I signed it and returned it to him. The windows were installed and then I was presented with a bill that was an additional $ 500.00. Wow! I called and spoke w/​Robert, who just wanted to argue with me.
I paid the quoted amount and have had a very upsetting day to say the least. As a senior citizen this kind of business practice is more than upsetting and extremely hard on my health.

After contacting Tommy’s Glass and asking if they serviced Monterey (which they said they did) I asked the lady that answered if they could come by to measure for some glass shelves I needed installed at my home here in Monterey. She said that they were going to charge me $ 85 Just to come by and measure and show me some samples. $ 85? If my memory serves me right the last 5 times I needed glass or mirror jobs done at my home the companies I used always sent a rep out free of charge to measure ect. Has this changed? Well no after speaking with 2 other local companies one of which is located in salinas where Tommys glass is located neither one charges for that service. Hey Tommy’s Glass Get some «class» the mindset that you don’t lift a finger unless your paid first is not the trademark of a good business. I do not recomend this business unless you want to be charged for every little thing they can dream up to charge you for.

I recently contacted Tommy’s Glass to inquire about a custom job to add a glass door to one end of my kitchen. The opening is not a standard size so a big box store solution will not work. The owner, Robert, was eager to help and we are planning to proceed with a customized solution with a look appropriate to the kitchen. Robert is very knowledgeable and I am looking forward to the finished project. So far I am absolutely satisfied and pleased with my interaction to date with Tommy’s Glass.

I needed some smaller glass work done and I was unsure where to go. A coworker told me that he had recently had custom glass work done by Tommy’s in his bathrooms when he remodeled. He said that the shower doors had to made custom and had some challenging design features. In the end, they doors came out beautifully. My coworker told me that I should go to Tommy’s for any of my glass needs. I went to get some pieces of glass to protect the tops of some furniture. Even though, it was a small job, Robert at Tommy’s took good care of me and had my glass ready for pick up very quickly after I called with the dimensions. I will definitely be calling him when I need any glass work done.

If you’re looking for pretension and a flim-​flam job keep going. If you want honest advice and solid, quality work then you’ve found it. Robert (the owner of Tommy’s Glass) is a straight shooter that will keep his word and stand behind his work. It’s not often that you find that old-​school pride in a job well done, but that’s what you’ll get. Can’t recommend them highly enough — no BS and you’ll be satisfied.

I had a hard time finding a local independent glass business to come out and replace a window in my own independent business. After asking some friends, I called Tommy’s Glass in Salinas.
Robert, the owner, asked for dimensions over the phone, then gave me a good quote. The next morning, he arrived with the glass pre-​cut, installed it in about an hour and billed what he quoted. Then looking around, he gave me some pointers on some basic shop modifications I could perform to help with the flow of work, then seeing me working on the floor next to a scooter, he offered to build me a custom lift platform that could adapt to my current automotive lifts to ease access to my motorbike service needs. Awesome!
I’ve since learned he does much more than standard glass work, a true craftsman of many skills and talents. I think he’s a man I can call on for expert repairs and service on other things too, and I’ll call him first as those needs arise.
Call him up, give him a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

I have had Tommy’s Glass Service do work for me two times. I was VERY pleased with both jobs. The first job was just a simple broken window (double pane glass). The owner, Robert, came to my house to measure for a perfect fit. A few days later, a worker installed it. I was so pleased with the work and service, when I needed a big job, Tommy’s was the first place I called.
The second job was my beautiful French doors. Robert came out again and gave me some great ideas and suggestions. The work was done professionally and quickly. I couldn’t be happier!
It’s so nice to work with a small, family-​owned, local business where I can get great service and quality at a competitive price.

Needed Screens for old windows and Tommy’s Glass made custom to fit screen. I called in and they came out the same day and measured what was needed. Returned the next day with screens that fit perfectly and looked much nicer than the originals. They were courteous and professional. And very reasonably priced compared to other shops I called. I will call again for the new windows needed.

After we called the shop they sent someone out within a half an hour. Anthony the guy that came out to install the new window was really friendly and came out and got the job done quick. He was professional and did a great job at cleaning up and making it look like the window was never broken!
