I strive to deliver the highest quality construction at an affordable price. From the initial design to the final product, every detail is carefully considered and managed. I am hands-​on through all phases of construction including foundation, front and finish carpentry, plumbing, electrical, paint, tile, flooring and cabinetry.

The types of projects I typically do are kitchen and bathroom remodels, additions, and new construction. However, all size projects are welcome.

Established in 2010.

I previously worked for Bryan Martin Design/​Build in Santa Cruz, CA as a project manager for almost ten years. I returned to San Diego in 2010 to provide a better life for my child and to be closer to my family. I am now bringing my years of experience in Northern California home and am trying to establish myself as a trusted business person in the community.

I was born in San Diego and was raised in both Julian and San Marcos. I moved to Northern California during my freshman year at San Marcos High School. I studied English Literature at Sonoma State University and Construction and Energy Management at Cabrillo College. I began working in the trades in my twenties and realized that «to build» was my calling. Since then I have taken every opportunity to further educate myself on trade skills and home design. My wife passed away in 2010, leaving me the single father of a beautiful little 2 year old girl, Lily. Since my return to San Diego after being away for twenty six years, I have spent my time building my business and reaquainting myself with this beautiful city.

After recently discovering wood rot in our 2nd floor balcony, we had a few companies come out to assess the damage and quote repairs. 2 companies tried to convince us to just replace bits & pieces of the wood decking, which we knew was just going to serve as temporary ‘cosmetic’ surgery.
A good friend had recently hired Brian for some wood construction and was really happy with the work, so we gave him a call. He came over the next day to thoroughly examine the balcony and discuss different options. While he could also piecemeal parts of the deck, he suggested Trex as it would look nicer, last a lot longer — plus the cost wasn’t far off from the ‘cosmetic surgery’ option… especially if we were going to have to replace additional pieces later on.
We needed the work done fairly quickly, and Brian and team were very accommodating and flexible, working around my schedule. They arrived right on time, worked quickly and efficiently and kept me up to date on the project. They were very tidy and hauled away all of the old decking — and even left the area cleaner than they found it.
I would highly recommend these guys to anyone needing woodwork or construction. I definitely plan on using them again.

Not unlike the other reviews you’ll see– Brian and his team did an incredible job on the backyard construction of a Fence and Bocce Ball court. They were resourceful, creative and professional. 5 star guys.

I would like to first mention Brian Robbins Construction has not done work for me. This is based on what I see as his character. He was one of very few that returned my initial phone call, then the only one that gave a referral. He was unable to provide service due to schedule.

My wife and I moved into our home about 5 years ago. One of our favorite things was to sit on our 2nd floor deck and enjoy a bottle or two of wine/​champagne in the afternoon. About 9 months ago our deck started falling apart so we went in search of a contractor. (We later found out the previous owners used wood filler in the deck to pass inspection but not as a long term fix.)
After a few «used car salesmen» tried to hard close us on their estimates, Brian and Shane came out and gave us a very reasonable estimate. Brian gave us a quote and said they could start in a week and to call them if we would like to go with them.
We liked the low pressure and so Brain seemed like the obvious choice. I made the guys very aware that I work from home and spend most of that time on the phone. I told them I understand construction is noisy I can adjust, but I need the work done on time.
The guys showed up the first day right on time. The noise of the demolition was not bad so I was able to keep my office windows open most of the time. When it came time to use the saws one of them would come to my window and let me know it would be loud so I could close my window. When they were done with the saws they would knock on the window to let me know they were done so I could again open my window. Above and beyond what I expected from any contractor.
The best part if they finished about a half day early and actually made suggestions to change our design on the railings that made the deck turn out way better than we had anticipated.
As for the wife and me, we are back to afternoon cocktails on our wonderful deck.

Brian and Shane are great! Super easy to work with. They both have great ideas. I really appreciate how much time and effort they put into our project. They thought through every step — tested it out and made sure we were on the same page throughout the project. I was so happy to finally find a great team that is responsive — they called me back immediately and were willing to come to my house multiple times to discuss the project before it started. I was impressed with how fast they got through the work — I appreciate the dedication and quality craftsmanship! They did a great job of cleaning up. I love the end product — looks amazing and great quality!

Brian and Shane completely rebuilt our dry rotted upstairs deck. He is easy to work with, did a great job and is a hella nice guy too. I was very particular about using cDeck composite from Lowe’s because they look the most like natural gray wood. We bought most of the materials and worked with Brian on how to do the install. He came up with some good solutions to some tricky detail problems. The end result looks awesome. Oh and they completely cleaned up any messes every day, which to me, is the sign of a pro. Highly recommended.

Our front door needed some work. We were going to replace it but after finding out it would cost us in excess of $ 5k, we decided to see if we can find someone to fix it before we sink $ 5k into a new door. We are so glad we found Brian on Unilocal.The one day project ended up being 3 partial-​days because the weather wouldn’t cooperate. Brain showed on time, every time, he was efficient and did quality work. He went above and beyond call of duty. Our broken front door is now beautiful and looks brand new, thanks to Brian.

What a pleasure to work with this contractor. He came when he said he would and did what he said he would do. Knowing our budget, he brainstormed to come up with more economical ways to get our project done without sacrificing quality, and my neighbor says our new front gate is a «work of art.» He is new to the area and still building his business, but I recommend calling him asap because he will be swamped soon! A few months ago my mom hired Brian to rebuild her front deck with composite wood. He showed up on time and got the job done in record time. We both were so satisfied with his workmanship and care he took. He didn’t leave a big mess and worked very hard. The deck turned out great and Brian was a big help with the questions we had regarding composite wood. He is an encyclopedia of carpenter knowledge.
I am so happy with his work, I had Brian install a new hood vent in my own kitchen. Again, he was very professional and clean. I look forward to having Brian complete all my home improvement projects. I cannot say enough good things about him.
