This company is great. Lee came to our home when the latch on our front door jammed and we were trapped. He had it fixed in 20 minutes and then he fixed the latch on our sliding door. His rates are very reasonable and his work is great! Thanks Lee

When my front door locked failed, I called these guys, largely based on Unilocal reviews and I like supporting local businesses. They came to my house the next day (per my request). They disassembled, fixed and oiled my lock, spending approximately 45 minutes at the house. The charge was not cheap, as others have suggested. I paid around $ 100. A brand new lock, identical to my current assembly, would cost just shy of $ 400. Given the age of my lock, I think I would have opted to change the entire lock if I knew the repair was 25% the cost of a brand new lock. I’m not blaming the business. I’m blaming myself for failing to ask the important questions. The fixed lock seems to be working fine, but I am wondering how long it will function.
UPDATE: I want to make sure I am clear. I think these guys did great work, in a timely fashion. Very professional. If the repair holds up for a long time, great. If it malfunctions again, I’ll use this same business to replace the existing lock with a new one.

Friendly staff and they work quick. I got 2 regular keys and a program remote for under $ 55! Saved me from getting ripped off at a car dealer. Highly recommend this place.

I called Carlsbad Lock & Key and Lee opened up the shop for me, made a key from the two broken pieces I had and waited for me in the shop until I came back to confirm that the key did in fact work.

Craig came out to install a key pad lock! He was totally professional! completed the job quickly and very neat! Was kind to help me understand how to use it and also assisted me with adding a code! Very caring, would use them again! Thanks Craig!

This place is so amazing the owners that run the place are so helpful and very honest. they take their time and they go out of their way. I locked my keys in my car in the parking lot and the owner spent a good hour and a half to two hours helping me. He completely went out of his way googled the answers to help me get my trunk open saved the day I didn’t have to call AAA and didn’t take a penny from me what a great guy thanks Craig you guys are the best.

After writing a negative review, I received a response from the owners of Carlsbad Village Lock and Key stating that they hope my experience next time would be better. I went back a couple weeks later to get keys copied and give the customer service another chance — it was tremendously better. The woman that works there (that gave me an attitude before) was very friendly towards me and even made conversation with me while copying my keys. I was very impressed and hope the positive atmosphere keeps up because I love to support small businesses in Carlsbad Village.

I have depended on Carlsbad Village Lock & Key for over 10 years. First time was when my son locked the instructions and combo in my father’s safe and we had no way of getting it out. It was a super old safe and Carlsbad Village Lock & Key spent 2 days researching the original manufacture and getting a combo for us. That is service!

Excellent service! I made an appointment to have two doors rekeyed and a total of five keys made. The locksmith was perfectly on time and he worked very expeditously, with a purpose. I was impressed by how quickly he rekeyed the locks. When I made the appointment they said it would take no more than 40 minutes but it only took 20 minutes. The price of $ 95 seemed fair. Superb.

We used Carlsbad Village Lock & Key again this morning and it just reminded me of what GREAT customer service is. I don’t know why I didn’t give them 5 stars on my first review but this AM, Lee certainly earned it.
This visit, my Mother-​in-​Law needed her locks changed after her caretaker left unexpectedly. We called them yesterday evening and we had an appointment set up for 9:30 the following morning. Lee got there a bit earlier than me and called me to let me know he had arrived. He was patient and waited until I arrived even though her new caretaker said it was ok to start without me.
We had 7 locks changed and he did his job so efficiently and professionally. My 84 year old MIL does not like change so he caught on real quick that he needed to be as invisible as possible and went along with the story that we were just «oiling the locks». He even suggested that we move everything to one master lock and give the care giver a separate key that can be easily removed from the master set with minimal expense. This will eliminate us changing all the locks again in the event of her leaving. I really appreciated that and when I called the hubby to give him the news, he was appreciative as well.
Seriously, if you’re looking for a trustworthy locksmith, look no further. Carlsbad Village Lock & Key are the best around and we’ll use them exclusively — you should too!
