Daniel & Davis Optometry

I stumbled into this place by accident but I sure am glad i did. I’ve known I’ve needed glasses for a long while and it just so happened that my dentist and doctor are in the same office. While visiting or attempting to visit my doctor i noticed Daniel and Davis Optometry. I walked in apparently 1 min before they locked the door. Now in my store that doesnt happen. But here they let me sneak in like a ninja. The office manager that assisted me was amazing. I walked in clueless as to what insurance i had and she whipped out her Sherlock Holms hat and figured it all out. I appreciate the professionalism and courtesy. I know i found the right office for me!

This place is amazing for a ton of reasons — in no particular order.
1) They have a mini play «house». It’s great for entertaining the kids when you are picking out glasses.
2) They actually get the prescription right on the glasses! (I know. seems simple but apparently it isn’t based on past experiences)
3) Dr. Karen Love is fantastic. She returns phone calls and get this — never rushes me off the phone!
4) They start eye exams at 6 months old. And… I’m glad they do. They detected an eye issue at the visit. We couldn’t fix it that early but we could watch it. Finding it hard to believe that anything can be detected that young, I obtained a second, third and forth opinion. Everyone agreed with with Dr. Love’s assessment. The only difference was Dr. Love had a much better bedside manner than the pediatric docs at Children’s and UCSD.
5) Fast forward 5 years and my son is finally old enough for vision therapy. Felicia and the entire team is amazing! It’s expensive and not covered by insurance but it is working. And my son has a good time at the treatments.
Bottom line, this place is great for adults and kids. You won’t be disappointed going here!

Extremely pleased with the service. The employees wanted to do a good job, not just pretend. I was impressed with Melisa Collins who handled my atypical situation excellently. I wanted lenses to help me better focus when playing pool. She was very knowledgeable and patient. I got the frames I wanted within what my insurance would cover. Things didn’t go perfect, but they took care of the two issues. Overall I like the attitude of the staff.

I waited for over a half hour on each of my 3 visits to this office. They told me over the phone that my routine eye exam would take 30 – 45 minutes, so I took an appointment prior to work. I was there for almost 2 hours and was over an hour late to work. They took me in to do one test, then they sent me back to the waiting room to wait. Then someone else came out to get me to do another test and then I waited a while longer in the waiting room. This happened multiple times. Then they took me in to do the same test again, and I had to tell them I had already done this and then they found the original numbers. This office is totally disorganized, and there are a lot of people running around in circles. After an hour I was still sitting there waiting to be seen by the doctor and the receptionist asked me what I was waiting there for?!
I would not recommend this office to anyone. Very disorganized and frustrating. They will waste your time.

Very slow service! It took over 2.5 hours for simple eye exam! Glass selection not that good and overpriced. They seem more interested in selling glasses than completing exam. Prescription only had far but not reading numbers. Also, waited on phone for 5 minutes to make appointment. I don’t recommend this office. They don’t seem to care.

Pardon my novel! I have had a pretty unpleasant overall experience with this optometrist– definitely finding out the hard way that good optometrists and offices are quite hard to come by.
I had came to this optometrist back in June. My insurance through work is good, and covered a decent amount. Plus, I have awful vision, so glasses are pretty much a necessity.
Prior to booking an appointment, I had called to scope the place out and ask a few questions. My work schedule is crazy (I only get one day off, and often work 70 hour work weeks) so I informed her that my appointment would have to be scheduled before I go into work. I filled out all paperwork prior to my visit to ease the process. Although I was prepared, I still waited in the waiting room for an extended period of time, and when I was finally helped– I was basically forced into paying an extra $ 40 for an eye map test. NEVER was I told on the phone that I would have to either get my eyes dilated, or pay an extra $ 40 so they can scan my eye and take photos. I feel like that’s a pretty important thing to tell someone prior to them showing up at your office, ready to go. Not everyone can just get their eyes dilated in the middle of the afternoon, and surely we don’t all like to pay an additional $ 40 when it is not anticipated.
Moving on. I end up purchasing two frames (regular glasses, and prescription sunglasses). I think the only decent part of my whole experience was the woman selling me glasses, she was super sweet and made it enjoyable. After my HUGE purchase (I dropped nearly $ 700 on glasses, to me that’s a large investment), I am told that they will be ready within two weeks. I call after two weeks, they say one pair of glasses is ready, but we are waiting on my sunglasses– they will call when they are in. Another week passes. I call to check up on my glasses, and am then told that NEITHER of my pairs of glasses are there. I am told once again to check back. Frustrated and incredibly irritated, I call back one week later. It has now been a MONTH. I receive the opposite response. They are now saying that my sunglasses are ready, and they are waiting on my regular glasses. At this point, I am not only super upset, but very confused. I explain that I have called 4 times now, and they have told me a different story each time. What the heck, seriously! I am told that they will call me back.
One week later (5 weeks now), I call– AGAIN. The woman on the phone is likely tuned into my energy and sounds pretty flustered. However, she finally locates BOTH pairs of my glasses, saying that someone in her office had placed them in two different locations so they were hard to find. Not my problem! I just want to be able to see. Seriously. I finally pick them up. I have an astigmatism in my left eye; when I put the glasses on my vision was so severely warped that it looked like a scene from inception. I ask why it looks this way, only to be told that my eyes just need to adjust, and that it should adjust within a week. Honestly, I doubt that there was even a prescription in both of my lenses. At this point, I feel incredibly ripped off.
Fast forward to last month. New job, I now travel for work. Often. Lost my glasses in Missouri– my fault, no problem. I call to politely inquire about adding some lenses into some sweet SPY frames I bought from their recent warehouse sale. The lady on the phone is incredibly rude, and super pushy. I get it– I’m in sales, too. but you do NOT need to be so aggressive! I told her I did not like the anti-​reflective lenses because when the light hits, they look purple. She would not take no for an answer. I ended up with such a sour taste in my mouth from her horrible customer service and pushy demeanor, that I am now happy to say I have switched optometrists. What an awful experience– I hope you think twice about visiting this business. I am NOT a fan.

Dr Davis is professional and personable at same time. I travel full-​time in my RV all over the USA and always return to Dr Davis for my annual check-​up.

We’ve been going to Dr. Davis & Dr. Daniels for years, and have always been super happy with them. Great service, friendly people, very professional & knowledgeable. I highly recommend them!

Been going to him over 15 years. Very satisfied. staff is pleasant & prices are fair. My husband goes too and is very pleased.

Going here is always a pleasure and an easy visit. The ladies are so sweet and friendly. Most certainly would recommend to friends!

Fantastic optometry practice! I had an issue and the staff was so helpful at getting me in even though I was a new patient. Then Dr. Daniel was just so competent and nice. She did careful exams, fixed my eye and got me all set to come back in 3 weeks. She also gave me samples so I could get healing more quickly and a coupon for my prescription since the medicine was kind of pricey. Don’t go anywhere else — they are the best!!!

I’m a little disappointed after finding out that these guys basically get paid from certain contact lens brands to give their patients that brand. Even TRY to get a different brand and they will just ignore you. Try ordering online? Yup, they will decline your requests. I was so hyped in the beginning and now I just see that it is all a scheming lie! I will find a new optometrist in the future.
Oh and btw, the brand that they are obviously paid by to only prescribe that lens, is awful. It’s supposed to last 4 weeks and literally feels like sandpaper in the eyes after a few days.

With our eight children, my wife and I have benefited greatly over the past 18 years because of the excellent services and wise counsel that we have received from Doctors Davis, Daniels, Love, and Dukes. We have saved a LOT of money by taking their advice about surgeries and I am ready to pick up my eighth pair of lenses at the end of this week! At first I thought that the frames were a bit pricey, but I LOVE the light, easy fit and I will be getting my third set of lenses in them shortly; this turned out to be a real money saver and the most comfortable and attractive glasses that I can imagine.
The technical staff members in this office are outstanding and I really appreciate the new Optoscan equipment that makes dilation unnecessary. These well trained professionals are unswervingly polite and can discuss what they are doing in a very understandable way so that even us UN-​technical types can know what is going on!
The front office staff are easy to talk with, informative, efficient, and friendly. At this point I cannot imagine going any place else for our (large) family’s vision needs.

Dr. Daniel and Dr. Davis have followed up with us and have taken care of all our concerns. We did not write our review after coming right home. We tried to work the problem out several times. I think it boiled down to inexperience staff. After speaking with the office manager, and both Dr. Daniel and Dr. Davis we have been taken care of. Thank you for following through.

I love Doctor Dukes! She was so patient while we figured out which contact lenses were right for my purposes and she was excellent at managing my expectations. And then I got to try on as many different contact lenses as I wanted. Thank you Doctor Dukes!

I’ve been depending on this place for 17 years, and it’s always been a good experience. Now it’s less of an intimate feel after they moved to a bigger office a few years ago, but Dr. Davis is still my man! He’s been encouraging me to have lasik for years, which I find as evidence of good character since they’ll likely have me spending less money there in the future.

Our while family had been going to Dr Dukes for years. She is so great with kids and take her time with all get exams. To r people with comments about the pressure of up sales during the ordering of your glasses/​contacts, that’s what the staff is suppose to do, just say «no thank you» it works everytime!
The office is very peaceful, clean and family friendly.

Back today for my son’s annual exam. The opthalmologist was great! However, the office has definitely changed. The check in process has changed and no longer is there an option for declining the Optoscan, it’s just an either Optoscan (for $ 39) or dilation option. I do understand the importance of early detection of retinal issues, but the way the paper is worded really makes you feel like you’re a bad parent if you don’t select the Optoscan (since pediatric dilation isn’t usually performed). So, I opted for the Optoscan.
My son had a minor change in his prescription, so we did need to visit the optical store. There were many attempts to up sell items that weren’t necessary since he only wears these when he’s on the computer or doing homework, so when I declined the majority, the tone of the technician changed. I’m not a «cheapskate», but I don’t understand paying for something like «Transitions» (where the lens will darken when in the sunlight) if my son won’t be wearing them out in the sun!
I’m considering looking for another provider at this point.

I have been seeing Dr. Susan Daniel for decades, in fact clear back when she was just starting her business with her husband. I have complex health issues and my eyes are really difficult when it comes to getting a comfortable prescription what I can actually see with. Dr. Daniel is the very best I have ever come across and I highly recommend her, she really know her stuff.
