Dr. Pearson specializes in family medicine and primary care sports medicine. He cares for patients of all ages and generalized medical conditions with emphasis on preventive medicine. He has an excellent track record in helping people to lose weight and maintaining their function longer into their lives. As an osteopathic physician, he is also skilled in osteopathic manipulative therapy, hence he is an excellent choice for patients with neck or back issues. Dr. Pearson is most definitely NOT your typical physician! He takes the time required to help patients understand their bodies and their conditions, thoroughly explaining treatment options to them. He was a past national award winner for Excellence in Patient Education. Furthermore, he believes that patients should not be afraid to go to the doctor. He uses his background as a clown and a magician to keep this patients at ease, infusing humor into medical explanations to make them more interesting and help patients retain that information. His practice’s motto, «Funny Doctor, Serious Medicine,» aptly summarizes the office, making him a good choice for children as well as adults. He believes that the world would be a much better/happier place if everyone had at least one joke and learned how to tell it well. Along those lines, be sure to bring a joke with you!
History
Established in 2000.
Dr. Pearson has practiced in San Diego county since 1988. He was a co-founder of the Industrial & Sports Medical Center, in San Marcos, through the 1990’s. He maintained solo practice at Medicine-in-Motion for 14 years in San Marcos before joining the Graybill Medical Group and moving into their Carlsbad office in January 2015. He is the solo practitioner there with the assistance of a physician assistant to cover the practice on Thursday afternoons, when he is off.

Raised in New Jersey, Dr. Pearson graduated from Gettysburg College, in Pennsylvania, and received his Osteopathic medical degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Missouri, in 1983. He returned to the NYC metropolitan region to complete a rotating internship and residency program. Dr. Pearson earned his board certification in 1986 from the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice and practiced in northern New Jersey until moving to San Diego in 1988.
He served on the Board of Editors of Patient Care and Medical Economics magazines, regularly contributing articles to these journals devoted to primary care physicians. Dr. Pearson also holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor for several Osteopathic medical colleges. He also mentors medical students from the UCSD Medical School, as well as physician assistant and nurse practitioner students.
Dr. Pearson is a proud member of the Academy of Magical Arts (The Magic Castle), in Hollywood.
