La Costa Dental Care

He used a dental instrument to pick the porcelain off crowns, and then told me they needed replacement. I have been harassed by La Costa Dental Care for this review.

I’ve been coming here for years and I would never go anywhere else! The entire staff is awesome! Very kind and helpful every single time I come in.

This place it totally incompetent. I have dentist’s in my family and grew up around the industry, we needed a new place when we moved to California. They are constantly trying to oversell you on things you dont need, lying about what would be covered, and then billing you incorrectly. TJ the hygienist tried to sell me on «deep cleaning» then found out he was able to get the cleaning job done without doing deep, and was telling me how grateful I should be that he was able to clean them, no TJ, thats your job… dont act like a hero for showing up for work.
They just told my wife all her work would be covered no problem, then we get a bill for $ 376 a few days later. Oh, and by the way we found out we had a $ 70 credit from last time that they had been sitting on for over 6 months. The front desk person, who has no idea whats going on half the time just mentioned it on a whim. Thank you to the whole office for representing the worst of the medical industry!

The BEST Dentist and Front Office I have ever found!!! I should know, I have been to over 19 dentists growing up, 10 tooth extractions, 29 fillings, 5 Crowns, etc. My previous dentist, was the dentist for the President of the United States; and Dr Dimaccio is even better imo. He expertly removed all of my amalgam, ZERO pain. He provided me stunning cosmetic veneers, which I constantly get compliments on. He replaced the substandard work from previous dentists and at an amazing price. He was gentle, efficient, timely, caring and his work is top notch. I can’t recommend Dr Dimaccio any higher. I have referred half a dozen of Dentist Shy friends to Dr D; and he amazed them too.
Another KEY point, is his front office. Gina is an equal expert in navigating the insurance issues, logistics and timing. Before I found La Costa Dental Care; I had suffered as much pain by ignorant Office managers as I did at the hands of mediocre dentists. Gina is your advocate and an absolute ROCK STAR!!! Gina is always available to explain, help me navigate and understand the work, the insurance and how to make it work. She’s a GODDESS. Jodi is fantastic with friendly reminders and updates.
EVERY experience I have had over the 5 years has been amazing. I refer them without reservation. If you HATED the dentist, know what real dental pain is; you will LOVE Dr D, as his dentistry is PAIN FREE and AWESOME!!!

First off… it makes me very nervous to be at the dentist office. BUT. I can say i was very comfortable here at La Costa Dental Care. SO comfortable that all my kids go to this office. Dana is my Dental Hygienist quick and painless. AWESOME STAFF… They kept me well informed. Jodi… You’re awesome too. Go see them and they will take care of you. JON.

If I could give them a 10 star I would. I just had my Mercury filling redone with the new composites! It was quick, painless, and my teeth look absolutely beautiful! As soon as I walked into the office, the front desk manager, Gina Hirata, exceeded with customer care! She was extremely friendly, her smile lights up a room, and a lot of fun to be around. There was hardly any waiting time, they were very quick, and the staff was very on top of things. Dr. DiMaccio is very compassionate and very thorough and comforting. I had TMJ and he relieved it with his own technique that was very quick and easy. It felt like family there and I’ll always go to them for all my dental needs! Love them!

If you are looking for a dental office who has a complete lack of respect of your time, this is the place. Sat in the waiting room for 35 min until finally the lady at the front desk said it would be another 15−20min.
I should have known this is the kind of service you would get here when I tried to get a call back from the office manager prior. I left her a message and actually had to call her back.
If you like wasting your time, and to feel totally not respected go ahead and schedule your first appointment.

My family and I have all been patients of Dr. DiMaccio since we moved to Carlsbad in 1999. He and his staff are the BEST! From accommodating scheduling to the professional care, we are always in good hands. We have had many emergencies in the past after hours and Dr. DiMaccio was always there for us. I am very grateful to him for helping us during those trying times.
Gina manages the office and makes handling our insurance claims a breeze. The dental staff are all professionals as well, making sure the patients are well assisted and comfortable during their visit to the office.
If you want to be treated like family in a professional, no pressure atmosphere, this is the place for you.

I have been going to Dr. DiMaccio for over ten years. Painless injections, he makes me feel very comfortable, excellent staff in the office. I could not ask for more.

I recommend Dr. John DiMaccio after being in sever pain for almost three days many other dental offices could not help me. Upon entering the building I was greeted by his staff warmly. I was quickly taken into a room and painlessly numbed so he could see what he was dealing with. He helped me to manage the pain I was referred to another amazing endo by the front office. Later I went back for cleanings, BJ is great he gets the job done and makes you feel very comfortable. I was then seen by Dr. DiMaccio for a follow up, he wanted to check in on how I was doing and make a plan for what to do next. I recommend him to anyone His staff are professional and very personal, the work is beyond quality and everything is painless. If you are looking for a good professional dentist to go to he is definitely who you want to see. He sets the bar high for other professionals in the area and I will continue to go there. 5 Stars all the way Doctor D!

I was recommended to this place by my insurance when i first moved here. HUGE MISTAKE! The first time i came here for a regular cleaning and checkup the hygenist didnt even clean my teeth and get the plaque off he just quickly polished them. I also was recommended a night guard so they gave me this square thing to put in the front of my mouth that clicks on and i went back because i couldnt close my mouth wearing this. They then gave me what i thought was another night guard but after like a week i had chewed up the flimsy invisalign retainer they had mistakenly given me!!! So i went back AGAIN and they made me a THIRD night guard and the visit before this one they made the mold and i had a regular checkup but the doctor was «too busy» to look at my teeth so he was going to see me when i went to pick up my night guard. When i went AGAIN to pick up my night guard i waited in the chair for like 15 minutes before the doctor could look at my night guard. All he did was ask me if it felt ok and i left. He didnt even look at my teeth like he was supposed to!!! not to mention the staff behind the desk are probably the dumbest people and mine as well be a bagger at vons down in the other plaza. TOO MANY MISTAKES! too much appointments and bad quality appointments! finding a new dentist who is competent! dont go here!

Best dental experience ever!!! Staff is wonderful, the assistance are polite and attentive. My daughter wants to comeback. I took my daughter in for a check up, she had a small filling to do. Audriana was scared, she didn’t even know she had already had the injection. … pain free… 1 filling later, no tears, relaxed and done in 20 minutes. I recommend Dr DiMaccio to all my friends and family.

I needed a last second appointment and I came across La Costa Dental Care online. I picked them based on other Unilocal reviews and I was not disappointed. They were able to move around their schedule to accommodate mine. I got a cleaning and it was one of the best I ever had, my teeth felt amazing. After I was done the bill was a little more then expected due to other services I was given but they went ahead and honored my phone quote. I am moving to La Jolla but will definitely keep coming back to see them.

I took my daughter to Dr. DiMaccio, she was very scared.
He did a root canal on her and she never felt a thing.
I have read all the reviews. I strongly suggest you don’t let the
Words of others keep you from coming here. The staff is great

I hate to write anything negative about anyone, but I really feel like people should be warned. This dentist was recommended to me when I moved into the area and I am sad that it didn’t work out. I just want to warn others that I did not have a good experience at this dentist. For one, the staff was unprofessional. The hygienist could not get the x-​rays done correctly, and had to retake them over and over and over. My experience with Dr. Diamaccio was not any better. I was not comfortable with him and I had to go back to his office on two separate instances to have him fix things that should have been handled at my first apt. I was also given a mouth guard that has since screwed up my bite and chipped my front tooth. I am in the process of looking for a new dentist…

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Dimaccio at La Costa Dental Care since I was 16 (I am almost 29 now) and I love him! His staff is also really great and provides great customer service! The office manager Gina is also really nice.
He also is very gentle and you NEVER feel the needle when he numbs you (he does this genius thing where he shakes your lip… he’s the only dentist I have ever seen do it).
What is also really cool is I noticed they have a basket of toys behind the desk and when I asked what that was the receptionist explained to me that it is for little kids who visit the dentist for the first time so they aren’t afraid to come back! So I thought that was really neat.
I recommend Dr. Dimaccio to everyone: family, co-​workers, friends, etc and everyone I send loves him!
