LOVELY B & B This is a very nice little B & B in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley wine country. It’s a great location from which to explore the area. The Inn itself is pleasantly hosted by Mike & Roselyn. The rooms are large and«well appointed.» Point, point, point. :) Breakfast is also excellent. So far, we’ve always had fruit plus either French toast, a pancake or an omelette. Warning to coffee lovers, like me: the earliest breakfast is 8:30 and coffee is not available prior to that time. There is none, for example, in the room.

We just returned from a week-end at the House and it was fantastic, no complaints. Mike and Roselyn were great host/hostess. Both breakfasts were near perfect. The only minor negative comment I would make is the coffee and that came down to personal taste. We’re somewhat Starbuck’s French Roast snobs. We really loved their«Greeter Cat». Well, he’s really not their cat. He’s the neighbors cat, but he sure is friendly. All in all, we’d recommend the R.R. Thompson House and I’m pretty sure we’ll be back someday.

I’ll preface this by saying that my husband and I have never stayed at a bed and breakfast before, so consider that when you see the 5 stars, but I must say I can’t imagine we could have had a better experience anywhere else. The innkeepers, Rosalyn and Mike, keep a lovely bed and breakfast in a perfect location for touring Willamette Valley. We stayed in the Lavender Room which was HUGE and felt very private(something we didn’t expect from a B&B). The bed was very comfortable, the room décor was quaint, and the room had multiple sitting areas for lounging between wine tastings. Additionally we had a huge jacuzzi tub and separate standing shower plus two sinks — very luxurious compared to the hotels we had been staying at earlier on our vacation. In terms of location, Carlton is only about 3 blocks in total, and has just a few restaurants, and the Thompson House is pretty much at the center of it all. Stay two nights and walk to Cana’s Feast and Cuvee — you’ll have the best meals! Driving to the wineries was a breeze, and it was lovely to wake up to a delicious home cooked breakfast every morning. We had a fantastic time, and if we ever find ourselves in Willamette Valley again, we’ll definitely be staying at the Thompson House.

We randomly found this B&B while traveling driving down the coast from Seattle. We had never stayed in a B&B before. This was the perfect experience. Mike and Roselyn are the nicest couple. We stayed in the lavender room which was lovely. The breakfast(the omlette) was killer. They had great recommendations for dinner both nights we were there(Cuvee and Cana’s Feast). Highly recommended.
