One of the best rustic-style bakeries I have ever been to(and I have been to many). Great variety of yummy cakes and baked goods, baked right there, super fresh. The coffee was good(quality French roast and Kona, espresso drinks) but no light or medium roasts(like a tasty Guat or Ethiopian) to crush it. I did not eat here — next time. Cute setting. Owner operated.

Very helpful and friendly, with great espresso. We arrived as they were closing, but they still took the time to make our drinks and give us a great orientation to the town, with recommendations for dinner and local wines to enjoy. The coffee tasted great, and the staff were very open and kind.

Best Bagel of my life!!! I will be back. What an adorable little café. The owner even mentioned the bagel was freshly made, and at 1:45pm in the afternoon, that’s impressive. Love this place.

Average coffee house in a little town. Some of the pastries looked a a day two old so we skipped them coffee was decent though.

I haven’t eaten anything from here. I’ve only had their juice and coffee. Both were just okay. I ordered the veggie juice, but it was very sweet like there was orange juice or apples added to it; which I hate. I don’t like my juice super sweet, so that’s why I ordered the veggie one. None of the ingredients(other than carrot) had sugar in them, so it was weird that it was so sweet. The soy latte was too strong. They only have two sizes for drinks: regular and large. I’m not sure how many shots go in the large, but there should only be two. It was so strong that it seemed like it had 3 or 4. The espresso flavor itself was not great either. It tasted low quality. I also found it interesting that their breakfast burritos were pre-made and in the cooler. I certainly would not want to spend $ 8 on a pre-heated egg meal. The service was also REALLY slow. They need at least one more person working so they have a barista on the machine at all times. It’s a coffee shop, that’s a must. I was a barista at one time, so I know how it works. There was a line out the door, and the one lady working the register seemed frantic because she was also making the drinks by herself. I was just visiting, so it’s highly unlikely I’ll be back. However, even if I do go back, I probably won’t be coming to this place.

I’ve been here several times since I live a block away. Customer service was lacking 2 out of the three times I visited. Food is okay, not worth the price. Coffee is good. Pastries are good too, just pricey.

A great local place to hang around and enjoy a great espresso or cup of coffee. They offer a great variety of delicious pastries and sandwiches. The patio is nice to sit outside in the shade on a sunny day — chess boards, newspapers are available. Great place to relax!

Moldy pastries?! I picked up coffee and some frosted pastries for a construction crew. It wasn’t until we dug in that we saw the green fuzz growing in multiple places. I’ve always stopped here when in Carmel Valley because the coffee was good and the angry foreign guy working the counter seemed more like a cute novelty than an insult. I’ll probably find myself here again but I doubt I’ll order any baked goods.

At the Wild Goose Café, everything is organic, and no sugar is added to the berries OR the crust of the best pie EVER! Organic coffee compliment this or any of the fresh-baked pastries. They even have breakfast and lunch offerings. Nice Place!

First let me agree with Sara, Martin can be a grump at times but if you talk to him and engage him he comes around quick. The bar coffee drinks rock pastry goods are fresh and delicious making the trip and occasional attitude worth accommodating. If you want a donut and gas station coffee head up the street otherwise I recommend the Morning Glory Muffin a Late and hearing some local chatter!

When the co owner Martin is behind the counter I walk out. Some people have no business being in the food service industry, and he falls into that class. I could go on in detail, but let’s just say I’m glad I don’t have to work for him, or be served by him. I stand by my choice. I really can’t figure out why he is there, or why his wife Roxanne allows him behind the counter at all!. A lot of locals set up camp here for hours. I’m on the grab n go schedule. A decent croissant n cappuccino for me. The scones tend to be under baked but toast up nicely at home. The bakers turn out a lot of product, and I hope they will keep this cute little coffee shop afloat. I’ll take a box of pastries to morning meetings, and they always get gobbled up by the crew.

There aren’t a lot of options for lunch on Monday in the village, so I decided to try this little spot. The inside is quaint and a bit dark, but lots of charm. I was not greeted… at all. The young girl behind the counter finally looked at me, without a smile, and asked for my order. I ordered a turkey sandwich to go with mixed greens, tomato and Dijon mustard. As I waited for my sandwich to be made, I noticed a man in glasses behind the counter. I saw him scratch his nose with one hand and then proceed to wipe the entirety of his runny nose with his other. If this wasn’t bad enough, he then reached into the case with unclean and bare hands for a customers pastry. My to go order was not brought to me. I just happened to hear the young girl say«to go sandwich». When I got the sandwich, the bread was fairly fresh. There was a bit of turkey and the«greens» was actually one piece of lettuce. I love to support local restaurants, but this place will NEVER get my business again. Just because you are the only coffee house in town doesn’t mean you can sell a bad product. Next time I want a sandwich, I will walk down to the deli/liquor store

I’ve been in here twice now — on two separate occasions when visiting Carmel. Wild Goose Bakery Café is a darling little coffee shop that serves up decent sandwiches, homemade pastries, tea, coffee, and freshly made juices. I’ve had their juice in the past and it was solid. I was glad to have a fresh healthy breakfast option in the area. I remember definitely being quite impressed with the look of their pastry selection at the time. I stopped in here recently this past weekend and though I was tempted to get one of their pastries — I stuck to a simple Chamomile tea. Their pastry selection on this trip — looked a little lackluster. I wonder if the good stuff goes earlier on in the morning? I enjoy the pleasant vibe here and I’ve had a decent experience on both visits. That being said, if you’re looking for a place with an extensive tea and coffee selection with drool-worthy savory and baked goods — I’d recommend stopping elsewhere in the area. Trust.

Nice little coffee shop with a cosy interior look. I went on a late Saturday afternoon and it was quite empty which is great. Coffee based beverages were pretty strong and portions are really huge. Nice place to hang out.

I loved this place. They had great coffee, really good pastries and they serve breakfast too. The service was slow which is the only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars. A good cup of coffee matched with a jolt of sugar from a properly made sticky bun does make one introspective and I’ve been thinking perhaps I need to reevaluate my five star criteria… but I digress. I don’t rate anything that had been over rated or doesn’t deserve a rating. It’s a small place that serves food made by folks who love to cook. I will definitely come back.

I’m going to lead right off with, «This place is excellent.» I love the breakfast burrito… simple and satisfying… their croissants come from the best croissant joint in Monterey, so no complaints there! Just one thing. Why is the owner so dang grumpy? Sir! I love the gentle French music you have streaming out of the speakers. I’m sorry you lost your lady love in Paris or whatever the heck happened that made you this way. I would be kind and ask and maybe even make an attempt to soothe your savage soul but I can’t! You’re scary! That said, this place is independently owned, great coffee, nice mellow spot for writers, delicious little Sammies on mini-baguettes make this place sing. Now that you know the owner is not a morning person, you won’t take it personal. Don’t. Just enjoy. (and PS, everyone else who works here has always been lovely)

Friendly small town service, stopped in to grab some things before we hit the road. The croissant was a little too hard on the outside at the outer edges, but the middle was superb and loved the contrast each bite. Really buttery too, which I LOVE. Fantastic execution. The cranberry muffin was not nearly as good as I would’ve hoped, but my friend thought it was a pretty solid muffin. It was just too mushy inside for me and would’ve been better if it were a little fluffier, since the crust or outside of the muffin was top notch and delicious. The coffee is self serve and the interior of the place is cute and unique. Owner is extremely friendly and helpful as well. Just wish the food were a shade better, but decent option if you’re randomly out in these parts.
